We came here for dim sum and both the pork and shrimp sui mai were good. Another dim sum dish they had that you normally can’t find at other places are the puffed pastries with pork fillings(looked and tasted like Vietnamese pâté chaud) and that was great. We also ordered another Vietnamese dish, banh cuon, off regular menu and that was good as anywhere else that I had. The only dish that wasn’t right was the Chinese broccoli, as it was over-cooked. Service was a little slow, probably because they had a huge group ahead of us. It was a drive from Norfolk, but if were in the area again, I would definitely stop by again. By the way, I saw only one high chair in the restaurant. The two ladies running the front of the restaurants were nice and friendly.

Great service and great Phở! We had the pork steam buns, shu mi, dumplings, and phở#17! Food was great, best we have had outside of DC and San Francisco. People could not have been nicer. We will be back!

Classical music background is enough to bring me back. We enjoyed Bun salads and some fried dumplings. Definitely worth a return visit!

This restaurant is my family’s go-to spot for phở and bubble tea. The owners are really nice, and their food is always good. They make all of their food from scratch, and I know for certain that their bubble teas are made from real fruits/ingredients instead of powders. The owner one time brought out the durian fruit they use for their teas. I usually get their B2, chicken peanut noodles. Although when I went last night, the chicken seemed a bit tough. I tried some of my mom’s seafood soup broth, and it was as good as always. Great place for food and bubble tea!

I was pleased to find put that there was a restaurant on the Peninsula that served Dim Sum. My husband and I ordered several dishes… each priced at $ 3.50. The Dim Sum was decent. I was more pleased with the service. The waitress and owner were so friendly and accommodating. The location is a little sketchy but I look forward to trying the Phở next time since I’ve heard such great things about it. Although not the best Dim Sum I’ve ever had, we left extremely full and happy!

So coming to Williamsburg/Virginia Beach area for the third time and still love the beach. As always, we’re always looking for the best phở joint in the area. We’ve tried Phở 79 and Phở 83 but we found this place when we were looking for chinese groceries(across the street). We came back to try the phở and it’s okay. It’s tasty and large portioned but not necessarily authentic Vietnamese — their spring rolls are the chinese dim sum spring rolls and not the vietnamese type. Service here is better than Phở 79&83. Will probably be back if I’m ever visiting in the area again since you can kill 2 birds with one stone — ethnic groceries and phở!

Hands down, the BEST Phở in Hampton Roads. My family and I have gone here for the past year and a half and we won’t go anywhere else. Phở 79 doesn’t even compare as far as taste and price. The location isn’t much, but it’s pleasant inside and the waitstaff is always wonderful! Their No. 1, which is Phở with everything(brisket, eye of round, tripe, tendon and meatball, is absolutely delicious and the small is almost too much for one person. They offer dim sum and roast duck as well. Soooo good!

Alway a great place to go with the family, the owner is there and personable. The food is great. Don’t get intimidated by the location. Venture across the street to get fabulous ethic ingredients.

Sketchy neighborhood. We came in about 2pm on a Saturday. Ordered the phở, shu mai, steamed dumplings and buns. The phở noodles were awful, chewy and they stuck together. The broth was weak at best, maybe they forgot to add fish sauce? Will come back for dim sum since they are tasty and really the only ones offering it.

I’ve been here a couple of times, phở is pretty average. It’s not my go to phở place in the area(that award goes to Phở 79 on Jefferson), but it’s not bad either. They also have dim sum and roast duck. They require you to order a minimum of 3 dim sum dishes which is kind of weird. I’ve never seen a dim sum place require a minimum amount of dishes ordered. Growing up, my family went to get dim sum at least twice a month, so I’ve eaten a LOT of dim sum. The dim sum is average. Some of it tastes frozen. But it’s the only place in Newport News that sells it. And it’s overpriced for what they give you. It’s about 25 bucks for a whole duck, 13 for a half duck, and 7 for a quarter duck. Again, it’s the only place in Newport News that sells Cantonese style roast duck. The duck is a little too dry. Portion size is decent. I’m not a fan of the sauce they include. It’s sweet and kind of weirdly chunky. But if you have a craving for roast duck, and you don’t want to drive 2 and a half hours to NOVA for some, this will work.

Their dim sum menu is really affordable and mostly $ 3.50 per dish(which are pretty good sizes!!) I love the lady who owns it(she’s always the waitress and hostess & her husband cooks in the kitchen)

Spring rolls weren’t bad but the duck and beef wasn’t up to par with any Vietnamese food I’ve had…

We went here for Dim Sum one day and I could not possibly be happier that we found this place. It is a tiny restaurant tucked into a little shopping center, which makes it a little tricky to find. It is worth the hunt. The food was all fantastic. We ordered seven items and a couple of drinks. Everything was brought out very quickly, and the prices are reasonable($ 3.50 per item) for the amount of food that you get. Realistically we could have ordered half as many items as we did, but we wanted a variety of foods. That’s the whole«fun» of Dim Sum… My favorite item has got to be the lo mein, but it’s a close call between that and the spare ribs. I realistically could reorder the entire meal right now and have everything a second time. Have not yet sampled the Vietnamese dishes here, but I will update my review when I do.

This restaurant has a bit of a split personality issue. On the one hand, it tries to cater to the Chinese palate by offering dim sum. On the other hand, it’s full on VIetnamese. So which is it? Well, they need to figure that out if they want to get higher ratings on Unilocal. My friend and I tried both their dim sum and Vietnamese offerings. Our verdict? Skip the dim sum and stick with the Vietnamese. Their dim sum is really not that good. It’s slightly over-priced at $ 3.50 a dish. Most of their dishes felt like it came from the supermarket frozen goods section as opposed to something handmade at the back of the kitchen. And the portions are, well, not very large. Now if this is the only trick in town, I guess you’re out of luck. Now the Vietnamese dishes are a whole different thing. We ordered the vermicelli with grilled pork. For slightly under $ 10, the portion was pretty large. We split it amongst two people. The pork was well marinated and delicious. Everything else tasted fresh as well.

Their Dim Sum is fresh simply delicious although the restaurant name is tagged to Phở. Dim Sum is home made by the lady owner who is from China. Must try the rice flour rolls(best in town), grilled shrimp chives cake, roast pork lo-mien(«al dente»)! My wife and I are Dim-Sum lovers and have eaten at many Dim Sum places. The highlighted dishes above are still some of the best! Our weekly haunt.

I have ordered a few times since my last review and decided to update my rating. They explained to me that you warm the meatballs up with the broth(on the stove) to give them a better taste. I tried it and it worked like a charm. The broth and meatballs were delicious, just be sure not to heat them for too long or they can get mushy. Very yummy.

I enjoy dining at Bamboo one. I like their dim sum selection. Steam bun with the BBQ pork is the best! Makes me think of my uncle, because he use to make something like this. It’s a small place but the food is great. My friend recommend this spot, and I’m so glad I went there. The service is excellent. She’s on point and works efficiently. I love their durian bubble tea with the jelly. And they have duck. I’m not a big fan of duck but my family is and they love it. I can’t wait to go back and tried the other dishes. Great food.

Boy have I certainly missed real dim sum and Vietnamese cuisine. It has been a very long time since I had Dim Sum as good as I had back home in the Milpitas/San Jose, CA. I got the M-3: Egg noodle with wonton and roast pork, and the salt and pepper calamari dim sum selection. It was awesome. The only pearl tea that I cared for was the Taro flavored one. I had the Vietnamese iced coffee which I always enjoy, and it tasted great here. The service is not pushy, but personable and seem to match your glance if you feel the need for extra napkins. I took some friends here after my husband and I visited, and they tried out the chicken feet dim sum; so of course being a fan of Andrew Zimmern on Bizarre Foods, I had to give it a go. Plus it smelled amazing! Overall, for such a small and obscure looking restaurant, in an even sketchier looking place, this was a winner for me. As I’m writing this review, I’m craving some of their dim sum now!

The phở is great. not a strong msg taste. its clean and not a lot of oil in the soup. The dimsum on the other hand, it’s a hit or miss. The dumplings are all very oily, but the soupy buns are great. Garlic shrimp is fried and delicious. The building looks run down but the inside is nice and cozy.

I’ve been a couple of times since my original review, and I feel like this place deserves at least a 4. I’ve still only gotten phở here since that’s my motivator for going to any Vietnamese restaurant. The phở alone is worthy of a 4.5– it’s a mini step behind Phở 79 in flavor, a full step behind in presentation, but on par or above for the amount of noodly goodness! The staff also deserve mention for always being polite and FAST. I will again stress that it’s not in the safest of neighborhoods. When I went a couple of days ago, I had a loiterer ask me for money on my way in. When you need some phở on the«phly» and are cruisin’ down Warwick in Newport, pull off at Colony and give Bamboo a visit. Just make sure you lock your doors and don’t leave any valueables out in the open.
