I dunno, food has been going downhill lately, the soup is getting watered down but the sandwiches are still good. They have free ice cream!

I’ve eaten here twice, via delivery to my work. The vegetarian option was completely lackluster the first time I got a boxed lunch. Today, we ordered again, I requested a Caesar Salad, NO chicken!(exactly how it looked on the order form) and wouldn’t you know it, my order had more chicken on it than any restaurant I think I’ve seen. And it was shredded and all over the salad. So, I got cold foccacia bread with some kind of oil on it. Thoroughly unimpressed.

I teally love the food at Jason’s deli but do yourself a favor and don’t use the to go line!!! They only have one person working the register(when working) and nothing gets done. They are almost always under manned for lunch and it takes too much time. Sad really.

I have been to the restaurant in Hampton several times and quite like i. But I live in Newport News, so I decided to give the one on Jefferson a try. I will not go back. The problem was not the food, which was good, but the service. I read other rviews that also complained about the service. I even spoke with the manager about it; he thanked me for pointing out the problem employee but did not speak to her while I was there. The employee was disinterested, unwelcoming, lazy and rude. No reason to patronize an establishment that employs people who cannot competently do their jobs with a friendly and helpful attitude.

First time to try after a friends recommendation… I no longer have that friend. Ordered the chicken panini. Should of just took off my shoe and gnawed on it. The bread was desert dry as was the chicken, as was the service. Never again.

Only reason they got that second star was for the free ice cream. Rude, dismissive staff. Bland food. Croissant was way flakier and drier than one should ever be. Toothpick shoved too far into the sandwich to be visible and I almost bit it! Steamed vegetables smell horrible. And lastly, take it from me who grew up in Louisiana and frequented New Orleans — these guys wouldn’t know a good muffuletta if it bit them in the backside! Overpriced. Avoid this place!

I’ve never sat in and ate dinner etc. we usually call in advance and have food catered/delivered to the office and each time we’ve called in and had food catered they came and set it up placed everything nice in orderly. great customer service food fresh I won’t complain I highly recommend this to anyone who’s having large staff meetings.

The manager here is really great, the place is always super clean(whoever fixes the salad bar has to have OCD, in a good way!)I’ve always received awesome service. The only thing that knocked them down a notch for me is that one day a few weeks ago, when the parking lot was empty, I called about getting something delivered across the parking lot to me because I can’t leave my store. There’s a $ 25 minimum and a $ 7 fee that they refused to waive. So I simply bought lunch elsewhere, and will continue to do so unless I am able to leave my store.

My hubby says it is the guy panera. But I love the salad bar and the huge potatoes. Free ice cream.

This was my first time at this location and I wasa little disappointed. I ordered the Beefeater which is a favorite but it wasn’t good here. It seemed like the French roll hadn’t been baked long enough to hold up the integrity of the sandwich well enough. It was really flimsy. it’s better when they are harder. The meat still tasted good but the all in all it wasn’t very good. The southside locations are usually good though.

Love love love this place! Clean and the food is delicious! Manager was friendly on our visit today and he even let us sample the corn beef and pastrami before we placed our order. The salad bar was the best many options to choose from and the sandwich portions were insanely huge! Two thumbs up for this classic deli with a modern twist! Affordable and well worth the money! They even give you free ice cream!

Great lunch stop. Food is always right, fruit was fresh(in January!) and everything was super clean. The staff is super nice, and the managers don’t hide out in a back office. They’re up front making sure everyone I taken care of.

Came here twice while my in laws were in town. It’s got your basic sandwiches. On the side of your sandwich is a mountain of potato chips unless you state otherwise. Very bland food. Skimpy on the avocado for a sandwich featuring avocado. The organic salad bar is good. I think that would be the only reason to return. Healthy options for diabetics and possibly other dietary restrictions. I also have to say the ordering process is confusing and overwhelming for new people. However they have a kiosk just for salad bar peeps.

The staff here is very friendly– always open and honest about the different menu options. The salad bar has a good variety and I haven’t had a bad sandwich yet. Pretty quick service, too. I try and come here each time I visit Newport News.

As you can tell, I was impressed by Jason’s at first. Unfortunately, that didn’t last much longer. I stopped in one afternoon with a friend(~4PM?) and ordered my usual: the Chicago Club. Immediately after we ordered, a family of 4 came in behind us and placed an order. We sat down, and they sat down at the table directly behind me(even though the place was empty). After they brought my sandwich out, I noticed something strange about it. Where the bread was cut, I sat something red/purpleish that normally wasn’t part of the sandwich. Then I noticed the little girl behind me(who ordered after us) was eating a PB&J sandwich. It seemed as if the person making my sandwich had made the PB&J first(as it was easier to make), then used the same knife to cut my sandwich. I’m severely allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, though I had eaten at Jason’s a few times without any issues so I didn’t mention it this time. Still, that doesn’t excuse what they did. The manager apologized and remade my sandwich for me, but I’m not sure if I’ll be returning any time soon.

Since I live in the land of «Subway» I was happy to see a Jason’s Deli during my visit in Newport News. Jason’s was a stable for lunch when I lived in Dallas, Texas. It was conveniently located from my cousin’s home in Newport News and easy for a variety of grab to go meals for a young«career» couple with a one and a half year old and a new baby on the way! My cousin grabbed some sandwiches, pastas and various items for dinner one night. I tried the Ham & Hard Salami Muffaletta as I am from Louisiana but live in S. California and wanted to experience a little back home cuisine. Although pretty close — no cigar. It was dry and served on a poppy seed bun and I like mine poppy seedless! The next time I met a cousin for lunch and had the club sandwich and chicken pot pie soup — the soup was incredible and the club was fresh and big enough for two. All in all I love Jason’s Deli as it is consistent on both food and service. In addition, the food is always fresh and portions are plentiful.
