I love the sandwiches that come from here! They taste delicious! And everything is always super clean! However, the customer service is not up to speed. It’s horrendous. I am lactose intolerant. I asked for my sandwich to be made without cheese and they handed me a sandwich with cheese on it. I asked for it to be removed and the lady asked the manager how to make it without cheese! How hard can it be to make a sandwich without cheese… you do just that make it without cheese! And whenever else I have been in there they have never been friendly on the register side.

I love their subs. Freshly prepared with additional fixins if you like. The only downfall is every time I go in here, the employees are always having very personal conversations so loudly that the patrons can hear everything. It’s not professional.

The place was clean and quiet and the woman taking my order was friendly. The subs weren’t anything I will be going back for. I got an Italian and it was soggy and left a lot to be desired. I know I won’t get a good Italian hoagie like I got when I was in nj/pa, but this soggy disaster was So disappointing.

I’m not really a big subs fan, but after today’s visit, I may have just converted to a regular! I walked in and the restaurant was conveniently located in a central part of Newport News. There was ample parking spots. The interior was very welcoming and super clean. The staff were superb! What caught my attention were 5 things that have solidified my pleasant experience. And they were: — Cleanliness — Customer Service(Crystal — cashier was superb; great sales person and enthusiastic about her job and making sure that I had a pleasant visit; I would say 80% of my pleasant experience was contributed by her eagerness and friendliness). — Visuals of each Sandwich(after reading the menu a while, it was quite overwhelming and I couldnt make up my mind; so many options/variety/selection, I couldnt narrow it down… that was till I saw their VISUAL display of each sub. OMG, that helped tremendously. For a first timer, I was clueless but glad I had some visual guidance). — Speed of Service & Menu Variety(although everything was put together and warmed up, it was relatively fast; they had a huge selection of items to choose from). — Interior Decoration(the white/red wall tiles, the firefighter props here and there and who can forget the SODA machine that has like 120+ soda flavors, ahhhh!!! They had my Dr. Pepper Cherry Vanilla, you know how hard it is to find that nowadays?) Needless to say, I will be returning at least once a week and make this my regular stop! Thank you Firehouse for making my experience a great one! Crystal, girl, you rocked! Hope to be serviced by her every time I go. If not, I’ll protest outside of Firehouse chanting«We want, Crystal! We Want, Crystal!»

Everybody goes to Subway but have you tried Firehouse Subs? This place has amazing subs! My favorite is the veggie sub. I eat a mostly vegetarian diet and sometimes when I eat out I feel like I am left out because lets face it, its a meat-eating world. When I have the veggie sub at Firehouse, its full of great, fresh, grilled, veggies and melted cheese and seasoned to perfection. It is scrumptious! You can eat in or take out. I’ve done both. The place is clean and roomy and there is a lot of interesting fire-fighter memorabilia to check out. The staff is friendly and fast and the price is right. This has become my favorite fast food destination! Please try these subs. You will not be disappointed!

Definitely a great sandwich shop! I usually always get the beef and cheddar brisket, which is absolutely amazing, but they all look great. Food is ready pretty quickly and I’ve never had a negative experience with an employee. Between here and subway, firehouse wins every time, no contest.

Forget that Subway and Quiznos garbage, this is one of the best hoagie shops in town. Excellent selection of hot sauces!

Firehouse is probably my favorite sand which shop for a good foot long. The smoked cheddar brisket is amazing. The staff is always friendly but you might wait alittle bit if they are busy. All the other subs are good to but the meatballs are the best as they claim stick to the other ones.

First off, this is not the more gooderness of Rosalitas, Vinnie’s or Joe and Mimma’s sammich wise. And it is not the awfulness of Subway(When I eat at Subway, I think of Gloria Grahame in It’s a Wonderful Life, where she is crossing the street, gets honked at, and she says«this old dress? I only wear this when I do not care how I look» …when I eat at Subway, I do not care about what I am eating. It’s just cheap bulk…) Place was clean. There is an active person cleaning off tables as they are cleared. I ordered a Roast Beef and Cheese sub, and the XYL ordered a Turkey club. Both sammich’s were well made(no famous BK thumb holes in the top of them). A very enjoyable experience. I need to rethink my sammich choices. When I do not have the time for Rosalita’s et al, I need to drive past all of the awful Subway’s and find a Firehouse. It is a little pricey here, but the food is good, and the folks here seem genuinely thankful for our being there. Recommended.

Friendly, helpful staff… hot, fresh ingredients brought out to your table… an active duty military discount… what’s not to love? The smoked turkey sub was fantastic, and I lucked out by showing up early on a Saturday, so no lines. Service was speedy(I got my sandwich in about 5 min). Highly recommend!

I’m compelled to write this review mainly for my adoration for their King’s Hawaiian Pork & Slaw that they have on special right now, even though I’ve tried their other sandwiches as well. That being said, I simply LOVE the King’s Hawaiian Pork & Slaw sandwich. It is the perfect combination of sweet & spicy. Generous portions of tasty pulled pork on a sweet Hawaiian bun(YUM) with amazing spicy coleslaw. I wouldn’t change a thing about this sandwich. Seriously. I love Firehouse Subs. One thing to keep in mind is that they have online ordering available, so that definitely cuts down on wait time. They can get especially busy during mealtimes(lunch/dinner hour). Pros: Delicious, quality ingredients. Lots of variety. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. They also have one of those cool Coca-Cola Freestyle machines that you can customize your drink choices. Cons: As mentioned before, the wait times can be really long(20 – 30 mins just for one sandwich), and the seating area is really cramped. Oh, and if you live more than 15 minutes away or so, you’re better off dining-in rather than taking your sandwich to-go, because they can get soggy fast.

Had lunch here for the first time. The servers were nice. Everyone greets you as you walk in. The cashier guy was helpful and knowledgable of the menu as well. I asked if the number ten was good and he said yeah it was his favorite. He also told me the ingredients as well which I liked a lot because I didn’t have to ask what’s in it. I got it with light bbq sauce. I definitely think it’s a tad bit better and more flavorful than subway.

Firehouse has great subs — I really expected ‘just another sub shop’, but was happily surprised. The menu’s straightforward but has many options with which to customize your sandwich. The meats are somewhat«shredded» instead of flat slices, and taste freshly cut instead of prepared slices.(The double-meat option is definitely a hefty sandwich.) The staff is friendly and patient, and each sub is made and brought to you by one person. The atmosphere is nice and bright, heavy on red, white, and black, with plenty of fireman themes mixed in. I look forward to returning.
