Café Stephanie is a true gem in Newport :) Great atmosphere, fun staff and DELICIOUS food! We came for breakfast two mornings in a row — Derek was our waiter and was a delight to banter with — the coffee mugs were always full, the scones yummy and the eight different menu items that the four of us tried were all devoured with gusto. We live on the northern Oregon coast and will recommend this place to everyone headed south. Thanks for adding great memories to our Newport weekend getaway!

This place was an nice breakfast/brunch spot. Our server was sweet but it felt awkward when she excitedly suggested I order bacon with my crepes when I am a vegetarian… I felt like I was disappointing her. The crepes were delicious, but they could have been better with something salty as the server suggested… perhaps some potatoes/hash browns. The appearance of this place should be kept up a little better(declutter!) since it is in a cute little area of town!

First impression: good atmosphere, attentive staff, one even asked me how I liked my chai and it was delicious so he showed me the powdered Oregon Chai they use and told me where to find it at Cash n Carry. I stopped in to pick some up and read the ingredients, it has milk in it. I had ordered myself and my mom two chai lattes with almond milk. I even asked the waiter what milk alternative they had and specified almond milk. I phoned back to the restaurant to make them aware that they are serving a milk product to people that request milk alternative and the employee was not even slightly interested in this information and seemed annoyed I even called. When I asked him if that was all he had to say, he told me to call back after 3pm and speak to a manager. They close at 3pm. Needless to say, I won’t be going back and I spend a fair amount of time in Newport, since I have family living there. I also write reviews on eating establishments for the local paper. It was my day off while in there but I think I will give this review as a freebie. BEWARE: If you have a milk allergy, Café Stephanie does not alert customers that they serve milk products to customers who request a milk alternative.

This place is awesome! It’s hard to describe in terms that don’t seem to contradict each other. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy but the taste and service are larger than life. If you want breakfast you must at least once give this little gem a chance!

We have been in several times and although the service is great, the food is underwhelming at most. Ordered Potato Tornado and the potatoes were basically greasy microwaved red potatoes. The eggs were floating in oil. My husband ordered corned beef and eggs. Greasy corned beef with greasy red potatoes and eggs floating in oil. Ordered a Tuna Melt the other day and it was a failed attempt. Watery albacore tuna with a piece of old bacon, pressed in a panini grill. Way too much pickle juice and then more salty Dijon. I had a stomach ache and only ate ½ of my sandwich. Served with a bag of salty potato chips. My husband ordered a Chicken Caeser salad. It was RUBBER chicken! Seems like every time we go there the food is like this, which is too bad since we have tried to like it. It could be really special.

THE place in Newport for breakfast. Exceptional home-cooked food using the best ingredients. Excellent coffee and really pleasant service. Not very big so might have a challenge getting in sometimes but worth a wait. Located underneath the Nye Beach sign.

Café Stephanie is a little deli along the main drag of Newport’s Nye Beach neighborhood. It provides a good contrast to the seafood and chowder joints that are so typical and ubiquitous along the coast. It’s a small, kinda cramped venue that still manages to seat about 20 at a few tables and bar counter facing the street. There’s nothing fancy about the place. The food is good. Not outstanding or anything. But solid, with a nice selection of a salads and sandwichs with fresh breads, baked goods, and some outstanding quiche. And service that’s very local; friendly and attentive. If your looking for something other than deep fried food. Something fresh and delicious. Café Stephanie is a great choice.

Very friendly service! Foodwise, I think they might have just been having an off day — but nothing we ordered was quite right, and my Cobb salad was all wrong: tired greens, incinerated bacon, past-its-prime avocado(and not much of it). I know several people who LOVE this place so I’ll try it again sometime, and hope to give a better review next time.

This place is a family favorite for their simple, very tasty breakfasts and lunches. Scones are perfect, loved every quiche I’ve had there and the salads are fresh. They make very good espresso drinks as well. We end up at the counter quite a bit, as the space fills up quickly. Wanted to give them a shout out for offering to work with one in our party’s particular diet. We sadly did not end up eating there this time, but only because I was out-voted. Just a nod to the great service we always get here. Thanks!

Surprisingly great food despite their identity crisis… diner? Café? There’s table service and you’ll be treated to lovely homemade scones right out of something hot! I got a cappuccino(dry and decent), French toast that’s made with real French baguette and a side of sausages. My guy got pancakes and bacon. The food was, in general, great quality. The downer is the open and hectic kitchen. Maybe there’s been a recent upswing and they’re learning how to accommodate all the Unilocalers but it was unappealing for our experience.

You know, maybe it’s because I’m spoiled but I just wasn’t all that impressed with this place. What was great: 1. The service: wow, seriously friendly people. Super helpful, too. What didn’t impress me: 1. The food. I mean, it’s just not FANTASTIC. It’s good, solid, totally eatable, but it’s not something I would wait in line for(which we did).

Breakfast was really good. We shared a quiche(sausage, sun-dried tomato and spinach), an order of bacon and an order of fried potatoes. Our coffees each came with blueberry scones. The quiches are all crustless. Nice to save the calories and the carbs. Our quiche was nice and soft, albeit a bit much cheese that gave it a stretchy texture. Still tasted great. The bacon was 4 generous thick slices, fried perfectly. The potatoes were cubed and pan fried and topped with grilled onion and red bell pepper. Quite nice. Coffee was plentiful, though it cools off fast as the cups are very wide at the top. Scones were soft and tasty. Not overly sweet. We’d eat here again and maybe try an omelette.

Nice little place next to the beach on Newport, OR. Stepped in while stopping for breakfast during our road trip on US101. You get free scones with breakfast! I am a picky non-select-egg dishes(omelette, scrambled, etc) vegetarian, so breakfast is always tricky for me. But they had nice pancakes(it’s hard to go wrong with them). My friends were able to customize their breakfast and there was also quiches which looked interesting. The wait staff was super friendly, and it was just a plain relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend this for a nice bite when in Newport.

Salmon chowder by far is one of the best I’ve ever had, of any chowder. Service was excellent & everyone is funny & nice. Great coffee. We loved how small & intimate it is. I had the French dip. It was great. Husband had the salmon BLT. He loved it. We will come back. The people make this place!

Stopped here for breakfast on our way up the coast, based on reviews the«co-pilot» found on his phone. Coffee was decent, and we all enjoyed the piping-hot scones(we drew three cranberry-orange ones, and one blueberry scone). The hot cocoa was straight, weak Swiss Miss, so zero points for making their own cocoa. Most of us ordered blueberry pancakes; one of us ordered the Potato Tornado, which he said was pretty good. The blueberry pancakes were two six-inch plain pancakes with a spoonful of blueberry compote between them, which was all right. The blueberry compote wasn’t cloyingly sweet, which served in its favor. But no blueberry syrup or compote was served to dress the pancakes; we got single-serving pitchers of maple-flavored syrup, and I don’t think it was real maple syrup. Artificial maple syrup is just not a forgivable offense for a boutique coffee shop in a trendy, touristy neighborhood. And I’m sorry, but two six-inch pancakes? That’s IT? I might expect a mere two pancakes if I’d ordered a *side* of pancakes, but if I’m ordering pancakes as an entrée, dammit, I want at least double that.

This right here solidifies why i LOVE Unilocal. I was visited for the week and as we were approaching newport, i hopped on Unilocal to find a cute little bfast spot. I stumbled upon café stephanie and its great reviews and couldn’t pass this place up! Adorable little place. yes LITTLE! awesome outdoor seating and great service! The banana bread french toast was to.die.for! It was topped with powdered sugar and peacans(YUM). Great quishes and scones WOW! The breakfast burrito was great and the fresh juice was the perfect drink to wash all the yumminess down. GOHERE, i repeat STOP in for bfast! it’s a must– my fav spot along the entire coast!
