While the art was superb and they had some beautiful jewelry that was reasonably priced, the condescending manner of the lady working there dissuaded me from making any purchase. I am 20 but was with a few younger cousins and my 13 year old sister, who were all well behaved. She was curt, rude, and obviously irritated with our presence. My younger sister and I were going to buy earrings but there is other galleries with nice jewelry to chose from.

The are numerous art galleries in the historic Bayfront section of Newport and I might have visited them all today. I stopped counting at eight, but don’t worry, I won’t be reviewing all of them. It is only worth mentioning those I really enjoyed. Earthworks was definitely near the top of the heap. Lovely location at the west end of the shopping zone with a solid mix of glass art, wall art and jewelry(including Holly Yashi). I ended up making my major purchases at another gallery, but I would certainly return here.

Earthworks is a fine arts and crafts gallery with a second, original location in Yachats.(A location in Lincoln City has been closed.) It is in the top echelon of arts and crafts galleries in Oregon and, indeed, in the nation, because the galleries in Oregon are second to none. Earthworks carries arts and crafts in many media but, as its name suggests, the emphasis is on pottery and glass. It also carries wall art in many styles, most original and some original prints(as distinguished from copies and reproductions); plus abstract sculptures, handcrafted furniture, jewelry and other items. In my review of the Lawrence Gallery, I proposed a scale of prices for artworks, gaged for those of us with moderate incomes, as follows: inexpensive, under $ 75; moderate, between $ 75 and $ 200; pricey, between $ 200 and $ 1,000; and expensive, over $ 1,000. Earthworks carries arts and crafts in every range and much of it, regardless of price, is not only original but lovely.
