Well, I really liked this place. I picked up coffee from here on the mornings when I worked weekends. The staff was friendly and I loved the atmosphere. The coffee was strong and delicious. I waited for it to get built and then finally open, but now it seems to be closed. There is a sign on the door that says«Temporarily Closed — We Are Expanding to Serve You Better» but nothing saying how long or if/when they will re-open. I was in there only a few days before the closed sign went up and I did notice they reduced their hours greatly and were not open on Sundays anymore but nothing saying they were closing up shop. The website doesn’t have any mention of it and their Facebook page has disappeared. Strange!

I heared it is closed! Found a comment on the Facebook page. Sorry to hear that… as usual the Facebook page is closed/locked/blocked now. Same happens to the Steinhaus Restaurant! A few days out of the blue it is closed. Even half of the staff wasn’t informed. Says a lot! Oh well… some will never learn.

The will not give you ice water. The quiche was pretty good but usually I like it with ice water.

Great brunch spot. The bacon quiche was delicious. Generously portioned and had a good serving of bacon. If you like bacon and cheese, this will hit the spot.

Great interior! I went here the other day for the first time to grab a coffee and pastry. We were greeted when we came in the door and directed to the menu. It was pretty quiet inside with only a couple other people. The restaurant was very clean, well-lit, and had a contemporary design. I chose to order an iced americano and blackberry danish. They were having issues with their credit card machine so it took a few minutes to process my order. The server expressed her frustration with the cook and asked for help. She then asked me if I had another card to use and I told her no. Luckily the cook helped her and got my order processed. I hope they work out their kinks after a being open a while and learn to be a bit quieter about their frustrations in front of customers. The americano was delicious and had a rich flavor. The danish was also good and seemed homemade and fresh. I enjoyed the quiet ambiance and ample window views onto Monmouth. I would like to return for lunch sometime as well. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and they also have a nice beer and wine list. I’m happy to see another local restaurant in the Levee area!

I can only gave this place a 4 because I can’t speak to their entire offering– I just got a salad. This is my first time in and my first impression is, WOW, this place is phenomenal. Super clean and cool interior– food options look delicious with healthy options. The salads is good– I had them out bacon on it :) I will definitely be back and would recommend that friends come check this place out.

Great ambience, very cool on the inside. Have to get themselves together from and ordering and service standpoint… friendly, but not at all efficient. Coffee was good. Had Carabellos been open, prefer their coffee. Ordered the chocolate croissant… disappointed, tasted like something I would have gotten from a chain. Overall I think this place will be a good addition to the neighborhood… but they need to fix a few things.

Decided to try this place out this am. Moved here from SoCal so expectations are pretty high. It’s a very cool vibe and the coffee is really good. I ordered a organic vanilla yogurt parfait and it was a nice size, however they gave me a teeny cup of granola(store bought) and so I asked if could please have another. Sure for a price. I think that giving me .3 worth of granola, should have been an easy give, but that’s ok. The pastries(chocolate and regular croissant were ok. I believe once they get the kinks out of being new, they might do well. Hope so :)

Descent place to grab sandwich+soup/salad type of thing. The industrial decoration is pleasant and casual, it might indeed feel a bit like in a factory. I enjoyed a potato soup with challah bread croutons and a salad. I was super excited about the potato pancakes with sour cream, however if you come from Poland, like me, it will not be exactly what you wish for. It is close enough to make you nostalgic and I give them credit for that. The sandwiches did not amaze me, but were very proper and satisfying. The service was prompt and nice and it looks like they had a lot of good pastries(did not try that time). They had some good German beer on tap, which was very appreciated on the hot summer evening. One complaint: the food menu is hand written on a small board far away from the counter, which was odd… This could be improved. Glad to see this place in Newport!

If I could take my one star away I would. I read about this place in the local newspaper and could not wait to try it out. As I entered on a Sunday around 11:45 A.M. there were three employees standing around. None of them greeted me which was surprising considering there was not a soul in the establishment except for the three employees. I looked at the menu and stepped up to the counter to finally receive a reaction out of the employees. I asked about the soup of the day of which they had to go and look to only tell me that at 11:45 A.M. on a Sunday that there was only one bowl left. I inquired about the potato soup that was on the menu of which that day they did not have any at all. Needless to say I left and went to Mitchell’s Fish Market on the Levee. I am not sure if I will try this place again as customer service is very important to me and they were not very customer friendly.

Tried it for lunch today. The food was very tasty. I had the Black Forest sandwich($ 6.50) and it was full of toppings and flavor. The soup of the day was goulash which I also enjoyed very much. We really wanted to try to potato pancake and the potato soup, but were told they were out of both today. Disappointing. For dessert, I tried the vanilla iced coffee and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was a great pick-me-up and was priced very reasonably($ 2.30 for a large.) The croissant was just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. The service was a little slow, but I’ll attribute that to it being a new place and working the kinks out.

I’m really excited to have this addition to Newport. It adds a lot of «class» to the restaurant /coffee scene. While I’ve only been in during the morning hours, what little I have tried has made me that much more eager to drop in at lunch or at dinner. The espresso drinks have always been great, and the breakfast snacks are awesome as well. There location on Monmouth is perfect for me as well, as it is easy to grab a cup or some breakfast on the way into downtown Cincinnati. I love the décor as well. Often times when you invite someone out for coffee(a regular occurrence for me), it stinks to have to worry about the scenery in spite of the quality of the coffee or the food — not so with this place. It’s modern, trendy, and looks very nice.

Amazing espresso! One of the best in the city! The croissants were just ok but the coffee totally makes it worth the 20 min drive from Independence. Very open and bright with simple but creative decorations. We will be back for sure.

A friend had her birthday dinner at Factory last week, she wanted to try after hearing the café had a european feel to it. Factory is located in the heart of Newport at the corner of Monmouth & Fifth St. When you walk in its, an open airy space with big windows allowing a lot of light into the space. You sit where you like, we picked a large table in the back and reviewed the menu. At Factory you order at the counter and they bring it to you. They’re open all day serving coffee, espresso, quiches, baked goods and for lunch/dinner have sandwiches, soups and bar. They have a variety of craft beers on tap and wine. We ordered a few drinks sat back at the table, while figuring out what we wanted for dinner. They serve beer in the respective brewery glass. I had a New Belgium Fat Tire and another had West6IPA, another picked German beer. Several members of the group picked soup, which is homemade one ordered chicken noodle and another roasted red pepper. The soup is an amazing value at $ 3, the chicken noodle was very thick, full of chicken and veggies, really the serving of that soup alone warranted $ 5 I went with a reuben, I asked them to make a turkey reuben and they were happy, too. The birthday girl picked turkey sandwich. All of our food was brought to us within minutes of ordering. Friends boyfriend then picked out a selection of baked goods for dessert, which everyone enjoyed. The team is very friendly, happy to talk about their food, prepare just for you. Factory reminded me of Northstar Café in Columbus. The only item we were a little concerned about was the beer & wine prices. My Fat Tire was $ 6.50, the West 6 was $ 6.50, I’ve had both at other locations for $ 4 – 5 and wine was $ 9. Thanks Factory team and welcome addition to Newport!

Went for lunch on a week day about a week ago. So, I’m like the pickiest eater ever. So when I order a sandwich I typically want it without 90% of the ingredients it is supposed to come with. So, I put in my order but when it was delivered to the table it was the sandwich as it comes(with all the stuff). So I went back in and without question and with loads of apologies they made me my custom sandwich and it was PERFECT! Then came the kicker… I’m outside enjoying this perfect sando when a staff member comes out to apologize for the mess up(which was again, no big deal to me), but what was in her hand??? 2GIANTFREECOOKIES! So unnecessary and so very very appreciated. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to all.

I love the atmosphere at the factory. I’ve been there twice and have enjoyed my time both times. The bacon, onion quiche is pretty tasty!

I just love that a place like this is in Newport. The décor is very European inspired. Exposed ducts, farmhouse tables, mixed with a very clean/farmhouse vibe give it a modern but comfortable feel. We were the only people in besides employees. I’ll chalk this up to being new. The staff was great. They answered a lot of questions we had and were super friendly. The food was phenomenal. Lauren went simple with just a chocolate chip croissant but she ate it within minutes. I got the Gourmet grilled cheese. It came with Gouda, Swiss, and Gruyère cheese, organic bacon, tomato, and this great(dill?) mustard. I’m usually not a big mustard fan, but this was good. It was a sweet and salty mustard that played well with the cheeses. It was probably the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had– and that’s saying a lot. My only recommendation is that for $ 6 I wish it had a side. Even if its just plain chips. The sandwich was great, but I wasn’t full from just that. After we ate, I was still a little hungry but didn’t want a whole other sandwich so I just got a mocha frappa, and Lauren got a mixed berry smoothie. They were both really good. Its going to be hard not to break my diet and go to this place all the time. Its so close to my house the walk-ability factor will make it a frequent lunch spot this summer. I recommend you go check it out. Great a great bakery item and a delicious sandwich. It will serve as a great hangout place and they had quite a good beer selection menu also. On the way out we noticed an adorable water bowl for dogs. I thought that was super cute and thoughtful.

I had a light day at work and took the afternoon off and thought I’d check out the new European-style gastropub on the way home a few blocks from my house. The décor is industrial chic and the menu light and inviting. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is first-rate. All-in-all it is nice to have another unique dining alternative to the usual, generic chains in every city and town across the country. Factory adds charm to Newport and makes living and dining here all the more pleasurable.

Great Coffee, Fabulous Pastries, Amazing Quiche. Everything I have tried since they opened has been delicious. My husband loves their Reuben’s.
