The hostess working the door on Saturday 2÷6÷16 is the absolute worst. Ever. I don’t think she has any idea how to seat a restaurant. We walked out after waiting over 30 minutes when we were originally told 15 – 20. Who knows how long we would’ve ended up waiting if we didn’t leave. It didn’t look good. There were still 3 names ahead of ours on the list when we walked out. Not that it matters though. In the 30 minutes our party of 2 was waiting, a party of 5, a party of 3, and a party of 7 were seated immediately upon walking into the restaurant. The hostess also offered bar seats to a couple of parties of 2 that walked in after us. Why take names for a waiting list if you aren’t going to follow it? Ridiculous! Went to Pepper Pod up the street. Delicious! Don’t even bother with Mokka on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The wait times are ridiculous, and the service is horrible.

I sat at the bar during lunch. Wasn’t very busy but still took nearly 2 hours because the service sucked and the salad I ordered took unjustifiably long. I went again and they refused to accommodate me when I asked for a smaller portion for my niece when I was still willing to pay full price. I was told the kitchen couldn’t do it. Really? Went again for a brunch where the server refused us twice when we said we were ready to order because she was too busy. I’ll never go back even though I live in the neighborhood.

The hot chocolate comes with sprinkles and whipped cream which is adorable. The service was quick and my omelette was great. My friends got french toast and it looked really good. I’d give it 5 stars, but I can’t bring myself to do that when the fruit salad is mostly melons. I know it’s the cheapest fruit but there was only one grape and that was a bummer.

I’ve been to Mokka a couple of times and the food is always the best. Love the quiet atmosphere even when they are crowded. Staff is super friendly and on the ball. Would always return to this place for brunch or breakfast. Especially when you’re look for more than just the average eggs and bacon.

$ 8 for 10 fried pickle chips, poor service, poor food and my foodie cincy card only saved me $ 2 along with the waiters being incredibly Would not recommend.

Our brunch was delicious. The breakfast pizza wasn’t much of a pizza but it was amazing. The geotta was cooked perfectly! Bae got the breakfast sampler and he said the hi-light was the biscuits and gravy. Overall great brunch spot.

Bar by night, revered brunch spot by day. I finally got to check out Mokka over the weekend. Though I’m not totally raving about the food — I have to give this place points for affordable brunch. For Less than $ 12, I got lots of cheesy eggs, goetta, fruit and grits. There are some options I’d love to come back and try but Mokka won’t be particularly high on my list of brunch go-to’s. It was really just ok.

Came here with my hubby and I ordered the Mokka French Toast. It’s was a little dry but the potatoes were light and airy. The turkey sausage was very good. My husband ordered the Portobello Grinder. It’s was tasty but difficult to eat due to the fact that the mushrooms are cute in big chunks. All in all a nice place and a cute setting.

1 star because in order to leave a review you have to leave at least one. Overrated .the service is terrible. We came here with a group of 8 girls. We were early for the Wine & Canvas thing next door at the piano bar so came here to wait it out. Immediately the women working the door were rude and and uninviting. I will never come here again. They bartender stole $ 20 from a girl in our group. Said she never paid but had the $ 20 bill in her hand then shorted her 2 drinks! Was nasty and turned around and through the money we gave her all over the bar like she was upset with us. Super weird. There was only another couple there when we were there(and they came after us) you’d think they’d treat their very few guest better than they did. I repeat I will never go back.

Went to Mokka for a late lunch or early dinner depending how you look at it. I had the Prime Minister Burger with coleslaw, wife had Mushroom and Swiss Burger with a salad. Very friendly service and a super good burger. Everything was really fresh. The taste of the burger was super good. These hamburgers are close to ½ pound burgers. You will be full when you leave. Good selection of local craft beers also. Check this place out if you want a good quality burger. Lots of choices, tons of sandwiches. Good menu. Something for everyone.

This place is awful! Everytime I come here I end up standing by the front door and wait for someone to greet me and they never do. Despite the fact that a server is usually just sitting by the door rolling silverware and they do not have the decency to even say hello or stop what they are doing to help. That or a busser is just standing around doing nothing and nobody is ever there to greet you. This is the type of service that I have grown to expect from this place. I have tried to give it a try now 3 separate times and all I ever see is people standing around and not helping anyone out. This place has to have some of the worse service of any place in Newport and the food is all crap/frozen junk and overpriced Do yourself a favor and do not go here, they suck

LOVEIT! We’ve been there for brunch several times. Service has been friendly; the place was very busy at brunch, but they were very organized and handled it well-staff didn’t seem to be all stressed out about it. Love their brunch menu. They have a great variety to choose from for vegetarian options, healthy options, goetta dishes, and then some plain old un-healthy stick-to-your-ribs options. My wife and I love Sunday brunch, and we haven’t seen any other place with a variety like theirs, and so many goetta dishes as well. Mokka’s breakfast home fries are to die for. Awesome. I’ve never been disappointed in anything I’ve gotten there.

Just stopped here for brunch today. Excellent choice. Was not too busy on a holiday, got a seat for three within 15 minutes, even though I think they may have skipped a party ahead of us by accident. I had their signature french toast and it was magnificent. Everything on the menu seems to hover between $ 8 – 9, which was fairly reasonable. Sides weren’t terribly impressive, but not bad in any way. If I’m in Newport at brunch time I would definitely suggest Mokka.

I experience Mokka and the Sunset Bar&Grill for Sunday Brunch. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table for four(they don’t take reservations for parties under six people), which wasn’t too bad of a wait for Sunday Brunch. When we got to our table, we were all starving and ready to attack the kitchen LOL… being so hungry made it rather difficult to make a decision on what to order since everything sounded so good. I went with the special of the day, Jalepeno Corn Cakes with eggs, pico, sour cream, avacado, and choice of a side. I was blown away by how many options Mokka offered for sides. I settled on the goetta(sausage mixed with oats) as my side since it was a local thing. We waited about 20 minutes for our food to get to the table. It was worth every minute we waited on the table and for the food. The food was very good! Everyone at my table agreed as well and were very satisified with the meal and service.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and it didn’t disappoint. It took about 20 minutes to get a table for 3 at 1030am and service was prompt throughout the whole meal. Portions were a good size, fair prices, and good quality. Eggs and biscuits were nothing special – wish they had a little more flavor or threw in another ingredient or two, but the French toast was amazing. I would definitely come back for French toast and goetta!

I expected a great experience but was disappointed. I had a late lunch on a Tuesday and there were only two other tables of customers. The service was fine but not as attentive as it should have been, considering the lack of customers. The Goetta Grilled Cheese wasn’t very good. Perhaps my stomach isn’t made for goetta but it seemed stale. The white bread seemed old. The criss-cut fries were fine. However, nothing seemed unsanitary or expired. The interior looked great though. It’s a big restaurant and seems like the bar would be a lot of fun when filled with customers.

Let me preface by saying I do not like breakfast foods. I have never liked breakfast foods. I would much rather eat leftover pizza at 8am then eggs or pancakes. But my daughter is the polar opposite; its Lauren’s favorite meal. So when she hounds me for breakfast food, we always go to Mokka in Newport. Its so good even I don’t mind breakfast. It’s hardly a little known secret, because there is always a line there. I think the quickest we’ve ever gotten in was today and the wait was at 20 minutes. For days like mothers day you have to have a reservation weeks ahead of time and they cant take walk ins those days. Mokka is known for their Crème Brulee french toast. For good reason. Its crispy, sweet, decadent, and freaking amazing. We order it sans bananas, but that’s a preference thing. The crème does taste just like crème brûlée. We’ve probably eaten it 10xs and never left a piece on the plate! Sooooo GOOD. This time Lauren also got a yogurt parfait. It was alright, but the fruit was basically all melon cut into very large pieces. I wish it was filled more with berries and strawberries instead. And I went to my go-to. The Grilled Cheese Goetta. I’m a Cincinnatian, so you know I love me some goetta. This sandwich is perfection. Its everything you want in a grilled cheese, then amped up with greasy yumminess. I love it because its not really breakfast, but ooey gooey goodness. The fried potatoes are good too. They taste like Frischs. I wish they had a cheese sauce like Frischs though; it would make it that much better.

GREATFOOD but the service usually leaves a lot to be desired! If you’re looking for a place to have the best brunch but the most disappointingly neglectful service you’ve found it! I really wish I could feel good about giving them 4 stars at least, but I can’t. Every time I visit I wonder how they stay in business, but then I remember that life changing french toast they have! So if you go please put on your patient patty pants, don’t expect much but do enjoy the specials on the chalk board(seriously their daily specials never disappoint!) or go for the corn flake crusted banana french toast!

We had purchased a gift certificate deal, and we decided to stop in for breakfast on a Monday. There is a prominent bar in the main dining area where most of the walls are lined with wood, excluding the one brick wall at the front of the building. Service was very slow from the minute we walked in until we left. I ordered the Mokka French Toast, and my husband had the York Street Benny. All of the food was fine, but like I mentioned, there was a long wait in between each step of our experience. There seemed to be only one waitress on staff for the majority of our visit, and to her defense, I don’t think she stopped moving the entire time we were there. They weren’t crazy-busy, but there were a handful of occupied tables.
