This is a lovely sweets shop that smells wonderful and sugary. I came here AFTER a huge lunch with friends yet was still excited by their large and unique selection of tasty ice creams and fudges. After much deliberation, I got a cup of smores ice cream, and I don’t regret my decision at all. The ice cream itself is very smooth and creamy, but I would have liked it to be thicker. The mix ins are awesome, though. I really loved the chewy marshmallow and the graham cracker chunks, which were slightly salty and helped balance out the sticky sweetness of everything else. I also got some Slavs of fudge to take back with me. I only wanted 1 at first, but they had a buy 2 get 1 free deal, so why not? All three flavors I got — turtle, salted caramel, and peanut butter — were delicious, but peanut butter was my favorite. Definitely come here if you have a sweet tooth, and maybe to fuel up for the cliff walk!

Was walking by and was drawn by the smell. This chocolate store/ice cream place smells so good! I had ice cream(chocolate peanut butter with one of their homemade waffle cones). If I was ever in Newport again, I definitely want to come back for the fudge and chocolate.

Very over priced commercial grade ice cream. One large tourist trap. Will not return.

Yum. I don’t always have high expectations for local chocolate places, but everything I got from here was EXCELLENT. The salted caramels I got are quite possibly the best I have ever had, and y’all I eat a lot of chocolate. I also had a s’more, and a couple other items. I purchased a dark chocolate covered graham cracker and some nut bark for a couple others. They both remarked on how good their items were as well. If you are in Newport and are looking for snack, head here!

Really delicious ice cream. Smooth and creamy, very rich flavor. Had the cappuccino chip and my bf had the salted caramel… fantastic! Very nice employees, clean place, lots of flavors to choose from. Also had a lot of other sweets available, fudge, etc. Will def be back to try more flavors!

I have been to Kilwin’s outposts in both Newport, RI and Wilmington, NC and am happy to report both locations were the same– outstanding. House made waffle cones, homemade fudge(many varieties) a full chocolate candy counter and a ton of ice cream flavors to choose from add up to a great dessert spot. The candy counter has just about any novelty you might be craving. My favorite ice cream flavor is the toasted coconut but the orange pineapple, Traverse City cherry, butter pecan, Georgia Peach and Rocky Road are also very good, go to choices. You can sample any flavor to find out what you might like best. The lines are out the door in the summertime so be prepared to wait but the payoff is well worth it.

This spot is located right across from the area where they have their annual boat show. Everything in Newport is pricey, especially this area. A two scoop cone will run ya about $ 6. A shake is about $ 7. The chocolate peanut butter ice cream has a lot of peanut butter swirls in it. The mint chocolate chip ice cream is refreshing. However they don’t carry peanut butter sauce. They sell an assortment of chocolates such as chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate covered Oreos. They melt and dip the chocolate in the front of the shop for all the customers to drool over. Everything is homemade. It’s definitely a great spot to stop for a cool treat on a warm summer day.

Fun, happy energy in this chocolate and ice cream shop on the strip. The staff was friendly, not the snarky teens that staff some ice cream places. They were totally happy to hand out free samples. A happy place for children, teens and adults.

On a recent to Newport, my boyfriend and I were craving some ice cream to round out an awesome day of exploring. Kilwin’s was our go to spot. I was impressed by their extensive list of ice cream flavors. However I was a bit disappointed to learn it was not homemade ice cream(my weakness). Regardless, we thoroughly enjoyed our ice cream(although on the pricey side).

Stopped by here on a random trip with my folks. The Fudge’s are instant cavity inducing sweet, but they melted in my mouth so I bought a box to take to the missus. The ice cream they had was delicious and unfortunately for me what started off as a «you want to taste?» turned into no more ice cream being left for me. If you’re in the area definitely worth stopping in.

A friend and I have been here on several occasions and their specialty caramel covered apples are the best! We got the pecan turtle caramel apple this evening and it did not disappoint! Chock full of nuts and perfectly caramelized caramel over a very fresh granny smith apple. What a treat! Sister and brother in law each got an ice cream and said they were both delicious and creamy. A great stop for dessert or a snack!

Delightful decadent hand crafted confections. Their caramel is to die for. As are the rice crispy treats slathered in caramel, chocolate, nuts, coconut etc. Satisfy your sweets craving with their vast assortment of creative & traditional candies, dipped apples, chocolate covered(almost anything), fresh rich thick fudge, salted caramels are a MUST, & their rich ice cream. Well worth the calories!

Candy and Ice Cream Nirvana!!! My girls went berserk over the ice cream. They have a large assortment of flavors and several different types of cones. The candy is super fresh and the fudge is totally amazing — especially the toasted coconut. The shop is super clean and the service is wonderful. It does not have a chain store feel. The bathroom was very clean(even thought we weren’t supposed to use it…).

As a genuine sweet tooth, i could probably spend all day and all my money at Kilwins. Between the chocolate covered rice krispie treats, truffles, ice cream, and caramel apples Ive pretty much died and gone to a sugary heaven. Their location right in dwntown Newport makes them a little pricier and busier than most, but its worth it. Their chocolate-prenut butter ice cream is a rich dark chocolate with chunks of frozen peanut butter. I also got to satisfy my craving for a caramel apple. A nice, tart granny smith apple, covered in super soft, buttery caramel. I could probably eat one of those every day if I didnt think my teeth would fall out. A recommendation– they cut the caramel apples for you if you ask. It makes them into nice little slices which are much easier to eat while you walk around than the giant apple on a little tiny stick. Kept everyone a little less messy. They are open pretty late and a must-stop if youre in newport.

These guys put the tasty in tasty-treat! I had never had Kilwin’s before but a guy in our company suggested we try it out on one of our night-on-the-town outings while at Naval officer school… so we did, and I am glad! I had a chocolate concoction in a waffle cone — their waffle cones looked so good so I couldn’t resist. It was truly a chocolate delite! They make some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had from a chain. The store is clean and keeps the line moving pretty quickly. They also sell chocolates and other delicacies other than ice cream, but I usually skip those because I’m too cheap to spend $ 4 on a single chocolate… The ice cream wasn’t cheap though, but I tend to be okay with splurging on my favorite dessert/snack. It was well worth it, however. I’m really glad we stopped and can recommend you do the same if you are walking down Thames!

One can never go wrong at a Kilwin’s. I moved from Tampa to Providence in Oct 2014 and was hoping to find one of these places up here and luckily I did. I was surprised to find it in Newport, but happy, just the same. They have the best ice cream, fudge, choc covered pretzels, etc. If I lived close by to this place I’d be both excited and scared cause I’d want ice cream every day. I’m ready to go back to Newport during season to get some when it’s a bit warmer next time. They have a huge variety of ice creams, chocolates and fudge and if you leave here with your head spinning, you’ve enjoyed yourself and must go back again!

Kilwin’s reminds me of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, except that Kilwin’s is better. They have their own ice cream! I believe that Kilwin’s is a franchise based out of Michigan. We always go to this branch whenever we are in Newport, Rhode Island. They have a bunch of choices to satisfy your sweet tooth. They have a variety of toppings on top of caramel apples. Many kinds of chocolates, caramels, chews, tuttles, toffee, etc. I always buy ice cream when we visit. On our latest visit, I purchased two scoops which costed me $ 6.43. I tried a scoop of Salted Caramel and a scoop of Apple Pie. Both flavors were delicious. Kilwin’s is a «Must visit» destination for me whenever we are in Newport, Rhode Island.

we have a kilwin’s by us and it tasted exactly the same which is good. I only wish I had tried the hot chocolate instead of ice cream! it was freezing out and it would have been perfect! oh well. so yummy though. I honestly liked this place better then the place by us because they have seating.

Get the toasted coconut on a sugar cone! There are little bites of coconut that feel like chocolate chips in your mouth, which is always a win. I’ve never had a flavor like this — and one scoop is definitely enough they give you a lot! For ~$ 4.50, it’s kind of pricey, but you want ice cream along the pier/beach, don’t you?
