Braving the snow and the cold was worth it for this sushi! Very excited to go back.

These folks were so kind to stay open for us. We arrived about a ½ hour before closing and it was obvious they were cleaning up. But when we walked in they quickly had us sit down. The sushi was fresh, but I didn’t find anything innovative about it. I didn’t finish my rolls. If you want a spicy tuna roll or other pretty straightforward roll, this place will suit you fine. We were away for a kid-free weekend and I was kind of bummed we spent one of our two dinners here.

The sushi is great here! We’re from Florida and we typically eat a lot of good sushi but I have to say that this place has some of the freshest fish I’ve ever had. No «fishy» taste or smell! The restaurant is small but very welcoming and cozy. The staff was very pleasant and also generous with portions. We will definitely be back a few more times during our stay in Newport!

Food: Miso soup, garden salad, Dragon sushi roll and salmon sashimi. Location: it’s right off Thames close to Gap and J. Crew. I loved that the deep fried shrimp and the eel were served warm with my sushi roll. What a treat! The salmon sashimi was fantastic.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! Driving home from coaching and my boyfriend suggested getting sushi and that he had heard about Mori and saw that it had good reviews on here [we’re big into the reviewers world of opinions on places, so thank you prior reviewers]. I wasn’t getting home until 9:15pm, and Mori closes at 10pm. We walked in at 9:30pm, which normally our rule of thumb is not to do that to a place that is getting ready to close up, but we were starving/craving sushi. The host/waitress was more than courteous and told us to have a seat anywhere and immediately brought over wine glasses and water [BYOB is a HUGE plus!] We were given the menu, which is mostly just the specials, the sheet you get to put your order on has ALL the goods; but I highly recommend looking over the specials/platters you can get. I was with my boyfriend and his friend and we were trying to be quick so we all ordered individually, when we probably could’ve split a couple platters! I personally had the Veggie and the Spicy Scallop… AMAZING. My boyfriend had the Volcano, which if he had time, probably would’ve ordered another one, not due to still being hungry, but because it was THAT good. We were the only ones in there and there was only one sushi chef, and even though they were close to closing time, it didn’t show in the presentation or quality. We didn’t have to wait long at all and everything looked perfect/and tasted perfect. Prices were all reasonable too. I’ll most definitely be back here again… SOON!

Came to Mori the other day as per Unilocal reviews giving it rave feedback. The location is in downtown Newport, and it looks very authentic. It’s also BYOB, which is a plus. We sat down and placed our order. It took a while for things to come out, and it was kind of annoying that our Gyoza we ordered was forgotten about. The green salad with ginger dressing was very tasty — some of the best, authentic ginger I’ve ever had. The sushi was pretty tasty as well — I got the spicy scallop and futo maki rolls. Both were really good, but nothing out of the ordinary that would require a 5⁄5 review. I’m giving Mori a 3⁄5 because it’s one of those places we went in Newport that we wouldn’t have died to eat at again(especially experiencing it already). Good sushi and good prices, but nothing that’ll blow your mind!

Great new sushi bar in the brick market area of Thames street. It is tucked in between the first and second row of shops just off the beaten path and a great find. The proprietors are very nice and hospitable. The restaurant is brand new so everything is clean and appealing. I had the spicy tuna(Classic) and Amazon roll which were great. I definitely recommend Mori Sushi Bar if your looking for something quick and different while down on Thames!

A little on the small side but fine by me. Very fresh and yummy. Excellent service as well.
