Wasn’t a big fan of this place at all. Staff were rude and very slow. Crowd was super loud and obnoxious. Nobody seemed to care. It’s too bad, because I love tepanyaki places. I’ll never come back here.

I have patronized both the Middletown and Newport locations for the past 5 years. For the most part I have had nothing but great experiences with food and service. Not so this past week.
* Service was horrible. This is a Korean/​Japanese place. Service was slow and surly. Had to stop short of the rubber hose treatment to get any useful information from the waitress. If I wanted to be treated this badly I could find plenty of Chinese places I’m willing to put up with this crap because the food is good.
* Habachi «Chef» was more into eyebrow singeing pyro-​techniques than cooking.
* Ok this is NEWPORT, RI, you don’t use Spiny Lobster tails on the Surf n Turf special for f*cks sake. The only acceptable choice would be the native variety. I prefer the taste of the Homarus americanus, I have friends whose livelihood depends on local lobstering and i don’t want some previously frozen over sized crawfish! The last time I got this dish it was the proper type of Lobster.
* The «chef» put my lobster meat and my scallops into the tails shell then torched them. The result was the flesh of both had a «propane» taste rendering the meat inedible.
* They have gone from having a selection of Sake to just two: regular and unleaded. Both suck.
* Over all quality has gone in the toilet. It feels like after having tremendous success they are getting greedy and have started cutting corners.
* When I have an experience this bad and a manager is not present I neatly print my comments on the merchant copy the credit card receipt. These days I add: «see you on Unilocal.»
Summary after 5 years of steering people here I must caution you to avoid this place.
