Where to start about OB’s… Always a great time. The menu consists of great bar food. The burgers are awesome and the lobster rolls are a must try. I have not been disappointed yet and don’t miss out on the mudslides. It’s great that they let dogs and kids out in the patio, it makes life that much easier. Big surprise with the carrots and celery, a real healthy option of Newport.

DOGSVERYWELCOMED! We have two large dobermans and wanted to being them with us on our trip today to the cliff walk. The staff was so accomodating to us and even brought each dog a bowl of ice water and a bag of treats. Plus they have their own DOGGIEMENU! Clam chowder was excellent. Beer was cold. They have their own parking lot in the back. Who could ask for more?

Place was packed with families with kids playing by the fountain on a sunday afternoon. The server seemed really busy and was tough to catch hold of. We ordered the seafood paella and a caesar salad, both pretty good. They swiped my card for an amount lesser than our actual bill so we had to wait for a while before they rectified it. They also had a doggie menu for customers with pets. Overall, decent place if you dont find a place near to sit near the wharf.

Very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. I love coming to places that leave you with the«come drink with us and stay awhile» attitude. Our server Sarah was extremely nice and very helpful. Loved sitting out by the fountain which is set up for children to play in –which I think is really fantastic. The food was amazing! I had a blackened burger, parmigiana fries(shared), wings(shared); and my husband had the tomato basil chicken in a cream sauce and it was fantastic as well. There were a variety of beers on tap to choose from and I loved that there were locals to choose from!

Came here for lunch on a Sunday in May. Quickly seated by friendly hostess. Ok beer selection but I stuck to water. I had the beef stew, a house specialty, and loved it. LOTS of tender beef chunks that really filled me up. A couple of nice crispy on the outside but fluffy inside rolls. My wife had the shrimp scampi which she enjoyed although it had tomato in it that she wasn’t expecting. Quick check servicing; gray service. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and would return.

Went there for the second time yesterday. It was a busy day in Newport so i was a bit worried about the speed of service, we were hungry! The place was boppin. We asked for an outdoor table, and within 5 minutes we were seated. The waitress showed up immediately, friendly, asking what we would like to drink. The drinks came quickly, and she took our order. We ordered different things from the menu, ordered chowder as an app. which also came quicker than we expected. The food was very good, the portions were better than expected, and the service was 5stars. Absolutely great place to eat when your in Newport. We will be back. Thank you :)

Stopped in for late lunch. Had their Gluten Free cheese pizza. Comes individual sized. Can add variety of toppings to create your own pizza. Was very tasty. Crunchy crust. They also have GF beer.

I ordered a jerk chicken sandwich and it was just sad. Tiny piece of overcooked chicken(dry) on a roll that was way too large for it. Mostly just a roll. Also, it had no condiments on it… No lettuce, tomato, onion… Nothing. I most likely would not eat here again. The fries were ok but I actually wanted chips but the waitress didn’t give me a chance to request them. I am giving this three stars because there waitress was nice and I was able to bring my pup and sit outside which was nice.

Meh unimpressed. We were recently looking for dog friendly places and stumbled upon this location. Realizing it’s still a little too cold to take the pup out we decided to go just ourselves for date night. Major let down. Neither one of us was that impressed with the food. The fish and chips was meh, nothing special and not really what I think of when I think of beer battered, these were more breaded. The mac n cheese felt like it was missing something. Even the beer, we had two different types, seemed water-y. And service was friendly enough but nothing to write home about. We kept feeling like we had to flag someone down when we needed someone. They have life music after 10 maybe the vibe picks up then but it was very low key and dead while we where there.

Very good food. We’ve been here a couple of times. My favorite are the different French fries they have. And my husband loved the corned beef and cabbage at St. Patty’s day. But they don’t have any Irish regular menu items. :(

Great pub in Thames! We went for lunch with our pooch and were thrilled he was allowed in the outdoor dining area(open seasonly). They brought out water for him and have a doggie menu upon request. For humans, the clam chowder and mussels were good. They had good standard pub type food with fresh seafood options mixed in. Lots of places to choose from on Thames but glad we went here and glad they were dog friendly.

Don’t let the dog friendly fool you. During spring and summer you are okay. If the doors are shut they will turn you away. We recently were posted to the area for Navy War College. The first night walking the dogs we came across this place. We saw other people with dogs and stopped. The manager said yeah we always keep a door open or if you show up we can open far end door and crank up the heat on the other side. Awesome we thought. The following Friday night, invited our friends with dogs to come into town to go to dinner at this place. Walked with 4 dogs and 6 people over 3 miles to get to the place where we turned away bc the doors closed. Do yourself a favor and call ahead. Atmosphere and dog friendly worth the time, if it is good only go somewhere else.

This pub is in a prime location right off of Thames St. in Newport with outdoor seating to enjoy during the summer. I came here for dinner and drinks with a group of friends over Labor Day Weekend and we had a blast. It’s great for any type of group – friends looking to get their drink on, a family with little kids(there’s a water fountain with fishing toys to keep them entertained!), or even a group with a dog(it’s pet friendly, at least in their outdoor seating area!). Food and drinks were great. For our first course, we split some of the best mussels I’ve ever had while sipping on delicious mojitos. I had the pulled pork sandwich for my entrée — not the best I’ve ever had, but certainly did the trick. We were seated near the water fountain(re: above) so we made friends with a few kids and had a great time playing/joking around with them. But seriously… those parents should have bought us a round of shots. As you can probably tell, this spot has a lot going on, which is a good thing when you’re in that IDGAF vacation mode but might not be the best for people looking for a quiet evening or a couple on a romantic date night. Regardless, it’s definitely somewhere you should hit up while in Newport!

the fact that we were able to bring our two pomeranians here today, adds an extra star, wish Incould give it 6 stars! the drinks were strong and lovely(the greyhounds) the Cajun burger and fries were super! We had the turtle cheesecake and some coffee, that were not so bad. Our server was sweet and the gentleman who served us our food had a handlebar mustache and oohed and Ahhed over our little men. Some of the nicer touches: they had a doggy menu served in a dog shaped bowl, and water bowl! So nice, can’t wait to come back! Crowd was chill and layed back.

The food was awesome! One of the best burgers I have ever had! Wait staff… Super friendly brought over water and treats for our pup. Just made a good day in Newport Great!!! This will be a spot I come to every single year!

I’m obviously not from around here, but came with a group of friends and am always down for a good pub. They have a nice size patio that is dog friendly! It made me miss my pup back home. I was also semi-intimidated visiting Rhode Island and had no idea what to expect. This was one of our first places we went out/ate at and everyone seemed very friendly. The service was good and I really liked their mudslides. They also had a ton of food to choose from. It went beyond the typical fried appetizers and burger choices that you get at most bars. They have sweet potato fries too!

If you like pubs and puppies than this is the place for you! Renting a summer house in Newport about three blocks from O’Briens, we make a stop usually once a weekend. Always have a wonderful time here. Most times we have a party of five or six plus, and they always accommodate us to be able to sit together. Never have to wait long for a table. All staff is very friendly towards us– as we are a loud and sometimes obnoxious group we get to know our servers quite well. Now the best part– SO many cute dogs EVERYWHERE! I brought my puppy here this past weekend. Right away they brought her over a water bowl and gave us a doggy menu. We got her the puppy chow– grilled chicken in a dog bowl, and they gave us two complimentary doggy bones. My go-to meal at O’Briens is always the pulled pork sandwich with the pasta salad, or the smokey mountain chicken sandwich in a wrap. It’s a tough decision every time because of the amount of food on the menu. My sister loves getting the white garlic pizza. My go-to drink order is either the mud slide(so good) or w Callie special, ask your waiter/waitress.a pink drink with blueberries in it. You won’t be disappointed in either of those choices, or any of the draft beers will get the job done. Good prices for good amounts of food, good drinks, good company and a laid back fun pub atmosphere. Oh and did I mention the adorable dogs ! :-) Love O’Briens.

Decent food and bar. HORRIBLE experience/service. I went there on Friday(July 3rd) and the place was packed. I understand that the servers are stressed out and busy, and I am not upset by how long things took. My friends order grilled cheese sandwiches. When the server came out she dropped one of the grilled cheese sandwich in my friends lap. Embarassing and awful, but accidents happen. My problem is with the follow up. The waitress asked my friend«Would you like another sandwich?» instead of immediately replacing the sandwich that landed on the ground. When my friend said she did, the waitress asked, «Really?». The kitchen had just closed, but thtat wasn’t my friends fault! My friend then tried to pay for her food/drinks. The waitress CHARGED her for the grilled cheese sandwich she dropped on the ground. She said«The manager wanted her to charge us for the one she replaced». I dont know WHO the manager is that charges patrons for food the servers drop, but I would love to talk to her. The saga doesnt end. Now my friend goes to pay for her meal, and when she asks for change for a $ 20 the waitress gave her $ 15 back instead of $ 20. As SOON as my friend confronted the waitress she handed the extra $ 5 right over. It seemed very shadey… like she knew that she had given the wrong amount of money back. The waitress refused to split the check to make things easier for us. She actually grouped our tab with a group of friends at the table next to ours(NOT our table), because«We were talking to eachother and thats what her manager told her to do.» Again, WHO is this manager? Overall a negative experience. Don’t waste your time with this place when there are so many nice resaurants in Newport.

My favorite to go place when I am in Newport, Rhode Island during the Spring/Summer time. Outdoor seating that allows dogs. The dog’s get serve water in a bowl of course and their own dog menu. They have this pond where children can go «fish» it keeps them busy while the adults are having conversations at a bird eye’s view while your children plays. Place is good to catch up and grab some munchies and just take in the summer breeze. Food is average. Nothing special but not bad at all. No complaints here.
