While in town for the seafood and wine festivals, my husband and I went here dinner. The sandwich board out front stated«rib eye». It wasn’t on the menu and when we asked our server she seemed confused. Needless to say, we decided to just pay for our drinks and go elsewhere… Our 2 drinks came to $ 38!!! Owner was very unconcerned with the level of service. Will never return or recommend this establishment to anyone!

great customer service and nice relaxing view of yaquina bay and the bridge. There is nothing like it in the Newport Bayfront.

The food was mediocre. The table was sticky. Nice view. This was not a memorable place as I am trying to add more text to make this review long enough but can’t remember this dinning experience.

Pros: great views, friendly server(Kelly), albacore fish tacos, clam chowder and Panko oysters had potential to be good. Cons: Kelly was by herself and in addition to many full tables, there were 3 parties of 6 and 12 so service was slow. Clam chowder could have been potato cheese soup. Clam flavor was not discernable and it tasted cheesy, good but not very clammy. Heavy on the blackened spice for the tuna tacos… too much for our liking. Oysters were creamy/mushy with big pockets of bitter dark green goo. Not the restaurant’s fault but we could not eat them. Service was too slow to send back. Salad never made it to table but was on the bill. 2nd order of fish tacos were supposed to be on the house due to slow service but was not removed. Paid the bill and left. Was disappointed because it is high season and Kelly was on her own. 3 stars because we were not well taken care of due to a full house and not enough coverage.

We LUCKILY happened upon this spot by happenstance, because our stroke-of-luck parking space was directly across from it… and it seems the gods of lunch were more persuasive than the Unilocal gods this day, for despite only two reviews because it’s a new restaurant(and therefore it was not on our Unilocal list of recommendations for the area), we found exactly what we were looking for at Pier 839. Waterfront views, check, good drinks, check, wonderful lunch food, check, fantastic service, check, affordable pricing, check please! We enjoyed a calamari appetizer, fish ‘n’ chips(halibut) and a seared ahi tuna salad, plus a bottle of Pinot Grigio, and our server/restaurant owner was wonderful… providing recommendations of things to do in the area, as well as spot-on recommendations for the food, even going as far as to tell the chef to start over with the ahi tuna because she believed it had been cooked to medium rare, rather than rare. Talk about going above and beyond to ensure our meal was perfect. The fish ‘n’ chips was some of the best and meatiest this fish ‘n’ chipsianado has ever enjoyed. 6 stars for this new restaurant, Pier 839, be sure to enjoy a meal here in Newport!

We took a trip to Newport and happened to walk by Pier 839. We had intentions of eating seafood on the water and this place fit the bill. We had the Catch of the Day and three Halibut Fish and Chips. The food was great and the Chef came out to ask us how the food was. Price was a bit over $ 60 to feed four and was an overall good experience. Not sure if it was the hostess or a waitress… she had a hard time taking our order, getting the receipt and change right.
