If you thrift, this place has a good selection of clothes, bags, hats, scarfs etc. Lot of good branded merchandize, staff is pretty helpful too. You never know what you find when you thrift. Location is hidden back side Broadway. Half price on different color tags each day its different.

You’d expect more from Newport. The great thing about the Palo Alto Goodwill store is the sheer quantity of top label hand-me-downs by virtue of its hoity toity donor class. One would expect similar from Newport’s only Salvation Army store. One would be wrong — these items end up at the excellent, but more expensive, second-hand boutiques and consignment shops. Oddly in the basement of an apartment structure(entrance is actually to the side of the building, not actually facing Broadway), this Salvation Army store is perhaps a fourth of the size of its Providence sister. Whereas many thrift stores are packed with hipsters and the crunchy granola class, Newport’s store is populated by people who seem to actually be looking for livable clothing. So much for irony. Shirts are bizarrely arranged by color, requiring an aggressive size search to find a match. But as in all thrift stores, gems abound, including $ 1 blazers(look for the white labels). Off-street parking available.
