The former Jefferson Hall is now a bourbon bar. Nice selection of bourbons and a reasonable deal on flights. There are some fun cocktails on the menu as well. The food is a little all over the place– tacos, typical bar appetizers, potstickers, burgers… I had the wings(Thursday is 75 cent wing night), which were very large and meaty. The sauces were pretty good. Probably more of a go-to for drinks with food on the side, rather than vice versa. Still has the nice outdoor seating area that gives you a great view of the Cincy skyline and the river. I should add that they have Chef Vitor’s(from Vitor’s on the west side) french toast on the dessert list, so that could probably be a reason to go. I didn’t try it at the Still, but I’ve had the french toast and it’s spectacular.

I went back to The Still Friday night to see LDNL perform with a group of friends. The place was overrun with runners from the beer run that happened earlier that evening. That’s great for The Still but not for their patrons. I don’t think the bar was staffed well enough because it took too long to get served. The bartenders were doing their best to keep up. They just could’ve used one more bartender. We didn’t order food but the drinks were fine. I’ll definitely go back to see if their food service has improved and will hopefully be able to add a star or two more to their rating.

Had a chance to check out this new place on Friday night. Looks like the old J Hall(with a little classier stone décor), sounds like the old J Hall with the live bands on stage, drink prices are better… but there’s one thing missing… the crowd! If your looking for a place with lots of seating and good, but loud music(the music is way quieter on their outside patio, which overlooks the river… always a bonus right?!), this is the place for you.

The Still, not much to report here it looks exactly like Jefferson Hall with a few new bricks laid out around the place. Still a super large boxy space. I am sure it is different on a Friday or Saturday night(hopefully). We sat at the bar and had drinks. I asked the bartender if she knew how to make a moscow mule and she said no. Then after going back and forth about what’s in a moscow mule and running the risk of it being horrible I just ordered a gin and tonic. The bf had a beer on tap. They had a good selection and at a decent price. I would never seek this place out, but it is a nice addition to the bars at Newport.

First time at The Still and it was wonderful, I don’t typically leave 5 star reviews but my dining experience was amazing. I recommend the salmon bblt and sitting on the patio! Service was timely and good cooked to perfection. I’ll definitely be back.

After a terrible experience my first time at the Still, I decided to give them a second chance last night and wasn’t disappointed. Service, food, and atmosphere were all aligned and I had a great meal. Becca was our server and she fully delivered. I was a little worried because we were a little pressed for time, but we got everything quickly and had plenty of time to make it to our party. The manager recognized us from our last visit and came over to see if things had gone better this time. She was friendly and discussed with us some of the changes they have made to improve since their first week open. Sandwiches are still a strong point here! For only $ 8, order the bourbon bbq pulled pork sandwich with garlic fries. The sandwich is huge, the sauce is sweet and delicious, and the fries a crispy. I am not generally a fan of slaw, but on this sandwich, it was great. All of the burgers that passed our table looked out of this world. We also ordered a spinach salad with cherries, blue cheese, and caramelized onions. It was a little small for the price($ 8) considering it didn’t come with any meat on it. There was a ton of toppings on it, so they could have easily just added a little more spinach to bulk it up. I LOVE caramelized onions, but the oil that they were cooked in made the salad a little slimy… tasty, but slimy. I am being nit-picky though– I would order it again. I am looking forward to coming back to see my favorite band, LDNL, in September. I was sad that the Levee was losing its live music venue when Jefferson Hall left. So, I am glad that The Still is keeping that tradition alive. I wish The Still all the luck in the world. I hope that they have really figured out their problems and continue to improve.

This was by far THE worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Myself and 7 family members tried to get dinner there after a movie. We walked in at 7:00. We all ordered drinks and did not receive them until 7:40. By this time we had ordered appetizers, salads and dinner. Two of the people in our group didn’t order food and the rest of us ordered, 3 cheeseburgers, 2 crab cakes and a hot dog. My daughter had asked for her side salad to be a caesar salad and the waitress came back and told us that they said they were too busy to make her side salad a caesar. OK, no biggie. My sister-in-law had ordered the crab cake as an appetizer. My daughter and I received our terrible salads and she still hadn’t received her appetizer. By 8:40 we still had not received our food. I asked to see the manager who turned out to be the owner who was sitting on the patio drinking. We could see him from where we were sitting. He got up, randomly spoke to a table, sat back down and continued to drink his cocktail. The waitress had to request him again. He finally came over to our table and we asked him to cancel our food order and comp our drinks. He said he couldn’t comp our drinks b/c it’s against the law but could give us the 15% employee discount. Fair enough, we understood that, just wanted to leave. He then sent the waitress over to get our credit card without giving us a bill. We explained that we were not paying for anything without a bill. We understand that it’s a new business, however, the waitress was uneducated to the bar & food menu. The owner was completely unprofessional and the kitchen was extremely slow. The idea of drawing people to your new business is to wow them so they want to come back. I will never go back there. Not because the food was slow but because the owner is a total dbag.
