I went into the cupcakes on centre store yesterday to look for some Halloween inspired cupcakes. I am from out of town. First there was a note on the door that stated” Closed returning on the 29th” .It was a pink notice. I tried the door anyway and it was open. A woman was sitting on a stool with an ipad in front of her. i asked if she was open because of the note Her response was«I have just been too lazy to get up and take it off.» Really. The cupcakes were extremely small and very dry and the icing was like goo. It was very sweet. I was truly disappointed. Plus two days before Halloween and no Halloween cupcakes. I will certainly not return.

I posted a negative review 8 months ago. During these 8 months I have been continued to be attacked by cupcakes on centre for my negative review. They would post a nasty message every couple of weeks. I thought it was finally over until I got a message from Steve c. About an hour ago. ” I have Unilocal reviewing you and we will get to the bottom of this. Out face book is fine and out stroe is doing great despite your intent. The Herald is interested in this and I hope they go further. Just enjoy life knowing how your attempts to destroy are very destructive nad never constructive…”

I’m so utterly disappointed in this place. I needed a sugar-free cake for my grandfather who has diabetes for my grandparents 65th anniversary. The website states they are open until 8pm. I called to make sure the cake was ready and the man informed me he would only be there until 5pm. I left work earky and drove 50 min in traffic to get there at 4:45pm. THEYWERECLOSED! No one was there at all. I knocked on the door for almost 10 minutes. I called and nothing. Now is the next day and no one has returned my calls or is answering the phone. My cake is already paid for !!! If I could give 0 stars I would

Although they have an attractive store front and very nice customer service the cupcakes are on the dryer side and the frosting is too sweet. Too bad because they look very nice.

Cupcakes on Centre just made a FANTASTIC sheet cake for me. Moist and delicious, and the decorations were perfect for the graduation party. They turned my order around with just one day’s notice, too. I was thrilled! Note:(because Unilocal asked!) parking is on the street or in metered lots very close by. Be sure to feed the meters!

The one time I didn’t read the reviews before checking out a place is the one time I really should have. And after reading them, I’m even more confused as to how this place has stayed open for so long. I had the Red Velvet and Salted Caramel cupcakes. I liked the frosting on the Red Velvet and the fact that it went right down the middle of the cupcake, but that’s about it. Both the cupcakes were dry and sticky and the caramel in the latter was just gooey and unappetizing. Two cupcakes with tax came out to $ 6 — I left feeling like I had just paid $ 3 per cupcake for something the size and quality of its supermarket counterpart. On top of that, the selection was pretty uninspired — besides these two, most of the cupcakes displayed were just listed as «traditional.» Also, the«Free WiFi» advertised on the front window is a total lie. Either it was down when I was there, or they don’t even bother. On top of that, sitting here is a pretty unpleasant experience considering that every two minutes the fridge goes into overdrive super loudly.

I’m so happy I trust my intuition… I was in search of a personal birthday cake(think groom’s cake) for my mom’s 80th birthday celebration. We already had the full sheet covered but wanted a small sugar free cake for my mom. I searched for months and finally came across Cupcakes on Centre. From the first person I spoke with to Liz handling the details. through to picking up of the cake, the process was so smooth. My parents are good bakers themselves and they were delighted with the taste of the cake. Also, it was decorated perfectly with our shades of purple and silver theme colors! I highly recommend Cupcakes on Centre and would definitely order from them again. As a New Yorker, we can be picky sometimes… I have no complaints.

I have definitely tasted better cupcakes. They’re pretty, but very dry, and they package them in just a regular box – so they’re sliding everywhere and are always a mess when I get home. You’re better off just getting pastries from Panera down the street.

One star is generous. Dry dry dry cupcakes. They’re pretty, but pretty inedible.

My first review! But unfortunately it’s a negative one. I came here yesterday with a friend to check the place out. First impression was great, a cute, bright, friendly-looking shop with pretty cupcakes. That’s about as good as it gets. My friend got a red velvet cupcake and was very disappointed, said it was dry and didn’t have much flavor. I noticed some flies in the case while we sat there chatting. We ended up returning a bit later so I could get a dozen mini cupcakes to go(6 for me and 6 for a friend). The girl behind the counter did not smile once, she appeared bored and as if she did not want to be there. When I asked if I could split the dozen into two boxes of 6 and 6, she said no. Just no. She finally explained that all they had was a single cupcake holder or a large box for 12. I asked if she could just give me two of the big boxes and put 6 in each. She said«If that’s what you want» in an extremely irritated tone. Seriously? I’m sort of embarrassed that I gave the cupcakes to a friend before trying them myself, but when I took them home and tried them, they were not good. Dry, dry, dry. Frosting was okay, I liked the flavor, but it was more crusty than creamy. I won’t be back.

The other horrible reviews validate my sense that the place if pretty awful. Like another reviewer, my red velvet cupcake was stale and not even red velvet. I doubt that it was even chocolate. My chocolate molten lava cupcake was a little better but not very good. I was also annoyed that i practically had to beg for a bag. Especially considering the close proximity of two Whole Foods, which generally have awesome baked good, I feel ripped off. As a follow-up, I called the store after posting this review in an attempt to determine the nature of the problems. I spoke to the woman who waited on me; she told me that she was the head manager. She also stated that I was the first person who had complained about the red velvet cupcake. I then told her about the review immediately below mine. The woman then told me that that she was aware that other people had written bad reviews. She went on to say that she remembered me and that I had been condescending from the moment that I walked in the door. I had thought that I was being very friendly and had told her that the two-for-one sign was good marketing because it brought me in the door. She ultimately offered to send me a gift certificate but then yelled that I was stating my address too quickly despite my speaking very slowly and clearly. When I asked to have the owner call me, the woman responded that she was the main manager. I hung up when she accused me of picking apart every aspect of the store. Eek indeed,

I tried the vanilla mini cupcake. Glad I didn’t go for the bigger ones — very dry cake and the frosting wasn’t the best. Should have read the reviews before going.

I feel bad giving such a bad review because the shop is adorable and the guy working there was really nice, hence the two stars instead of one. BUT, the cupcakes were nearly inedible. My husband’s red velvet cake tasted completely stale. He couldn’t even finish it, and he’s not usually that picky! I ordered a Boston crème cupcake and the cream filling was completely SOUR. :-(On top of that, it wasn’t actually Boston cream! It was a chocolate cake and had the wrong type of icing! I can’t get that taste of the sourness out of my mouth. My son seemed to enjoy the frosting on his carrot cake, but I didn’t try it. Disappointing and disgusting. I am sickened by the sour filling. I should have checked Unilocal first. I’m shocked that they are still in business.

Went in there today to purchase a few cupcakes as a gitft. I didn’t taste them since they were a gift but am now cringing at the reviews hoping that they were good. The place was so empty(on a Saturday). The girl greeted us and picked out my cupcakes. I asked for it to be tied wtih a ribbon and she seemed like I was bothering her to ask. The ribbon was tied so lightly that it fell off the box. It was just cheap curling ribbon. I untied it in the car and did it myself. Such a cute shop, its a shame its always empty. And a little effort for a finishing touch would go a long way. In my case, I will be going a long way away…

I really wanted to like these cupcakes. But, I agree with the previous reviewers. My cupcake was super dry and crumbly and didn’t taste great. The frosting wasn’t bad, but a little bit too sweet. Disappointed! I love the décor of the place and the staff were nice, but I don’t think I’ll return unless they improve their recipe.

Walked in during my lunch break looking for a treat for my coworker and i, we did not recieve a friendly smile by the sales lady, but more of an unpleasant look because we were interupting her phone conversation by walking into the store. Anyways, We’ve always been about supporting the local businesses so we got extra cupcakes by getting the 2 for 1 special, prices were reasonable already but we couldn’t pass up the deal. Just wanted to add that my rating is on the cupcakes and not the service. The Oreo cupcake was dry dry dry, I’d rather eat sand but maybe it was a bad batch. The banana flavored one was better but the frosting was a bit overly sweet for my taste buds. The carrot cake and Boston crème were 2 stars worthy. Overall the cake part was on the dry side and the frosting was good. Cupcakes were pretty and creative but doubt i’ll be a repeat customer.

I really tried to give them multiple shots as there can always be a bad egg(or cupcakes) in every batch, but three stikes is all they can have from me. Three tries, different cupcakes, different days, different times of day and each time dry, somewhat tastelss cake, with sometimes interesting, usually tasty frosting. They look really nice but that is about it. Last night 2 of the four cupcakes were hard around the top edges. Not sure how this place is still around. I really want it to work out but can’t go back again.

Wow, these cupcakes are awesome. I enjoyed the cupcakes and the service was A+. These do not taste commercial at all. I worked for my uncles bakery in Holland for 10 years and he would approve of these cupcakes. I will be sure to come back often.
