I got the spicy chicken burrito and my wife got the spicy pork burrito(chile verde). I liked it, maybe a bit more cheese and guac and it would’ve been perfect. My wife noted that her was pretty spicy but decent. Not very generous with the guac if you’re paying an extra dollar. We’ll try again sometime in the future.

Amazing burritos for a great price. I like them better than chipotle and their good as Boloco. If your looking for a great burrito tango mango would be a great choice

I’m a big fan of the Cajun chicken(spicy, blackened). Their carnitas are solid. All-around great value and very much appreciate the sweet plantains — a rare treat for a location in Newton. Can’t go wrong with the basics such as a burrito or «tacos al pastor». They also offer a tasty fresh mango salsa. My favorite taqueria in Newton…

So I work in the area, so I thought I would give the restaurant a shot and call in an order. Nope. I later learned when I decided to walk over(and wait) for my food that the cashier«doesn’t answer the phone when she’s busy.» I have never heard of a restaurant act in such a way. What if I was calling to see the hours of operation or to inquire whether they were open? They don’t care. I got a better look at how little they care when I walked in the building. It was decorated poorly, the line to order/pay was poorly organized and the employees didn’t seem to care about you either. This was reinforced by the grumpy cashier when she was explaining how she doesn’t like to answer the phone. I ordered a quesadilla that was premade with slices of cheese in it. I added chicken, onions and peppers and it quickly became very sloppy. The flavors were unimpressive and the meal was overpriced. I will not be returning.

This is a no frills taqueria. It has what you’d expect. Not fancy or over priced. Good food though and if you’re in the mood for this type of fare, I recommend.

Spicy chicken leaks do not try to eat while on the go! Other than that the burrito was delicious, if a little pricey. Guac is extra and the layout of the place and the atmosphere are a direct copy of Ana’s Taqueria. Right down to the strange piece of American cheese they slap onto the tortilla to use as a binder. I would come back again if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

Oh Boy, was this place a disappointment. In my quest to find that perfect burrito. I have lived in the newton area for the past 9 years I finally thought I’d give Tango Mango a try. This place Striked out! I read the Unilocal reviews it seemed that the Blackened chicken burrito was the popular choice. Nope! didn’t get to try it cause they didn’t have it. So I went with the standby Steak. I order taking guy was very clueless & a bit deet da dee! seem unfamiliar with his job nor did it seem like he cared. The Burrito score low on my Burrito scorecard. second from the bottom just above Boca Grande. The steak was bland and flavorless, the Rice was under-cooked and watery. The whole burrito was just a bland, flavorless, mushy mess. Sorry not again…

I used to be a big Anna’s follower, until I discovered Tango Mango. It is the best burrito place in the area and surpasses Anna’s, Boca Grande, Chipotle and Bolocco. It’s not even a competition. The ingredients taste fresh and the flavors are great, I would highly recommend the spicy chicken. Five stars for this awesome spot. Also I have never encountered a line that was more than 2 or 3 people. Don’t let that stop you!

I was very underwhelmed by the flavors here. There is something missing throughout everything I ate. The price for the plate I had was relatively high. The rice was somewhat hard and cold right out of the steamer. I wish I could post a better review, as I prefer to support local businesses… but I would not recommend this restaurant.

Expensive. Not an easy set up or process. Food is decent. Need to pay extra for chips

This is the BEST Mexican place probably in this state!!! I have searched for a place like this for the last 2 years(in Boston/greater areas) and I am so thankful that I finally found it! I am a Mexican American California girl and let me tell you, this is the real deal!!! Trust me!!! I have totally ate more Mexican food than you in my whole life lol: p

The one downer is the line can be out the door, but the food is really authentic and totally worth any wait. Not a ton of tables so keep that in mind if you’re coming with a lot of people. It’s a nice chill spot though. Fits in great at Newton Center.

I chose this place as my first cheap lunch place to try in Newton. I went with two friends and while they ordered burritos, I chose to have the southwest burrito on a plate instead. It was a «to go» order. A couple of things happened: 1. There’s less than an inch of difference between the medium and large size burritos. 2. If you want your burrito on a plate, you have to pay an extra $ 1.50. Whaaaat? I’m saving you a tortilla. 3. Guacamole is extra as well.(Qdoba wins) 4. My plate turned out to look like I had smashed it on the floor when it was served. But, they weren’t all negative things: 1. Free fountain soda with student ID. 2. Great flavor, especially fresh tomatoes. 3. Bilingual.(Mexican restaurants sometimes don’t have bilingual personnel believe or not) 4. The Southwest Burrito does include guac. 5. Prices were below $ 10. I may go again if my pocket has holes and I’m around the neighborhood.

Tango Mango is my go-to lunch for when I have work! It’s conveniently located for me and service is quite fast. Portions are large for what you pay for and it’s cheaper than Chipotle; this is particularly great since all the other restaurants in the area are more pricy, takes longer, and you don’t get as much bang for your buck. I like their carnitas because they shred the pork right when you order. Also, show your ID at checkout and get a free fountain drink with purchase! It’s a college kid’s ideal place. Casual, clean ambiance with colorful table covers and the staff are always friendly and efficient. I can’t speak to the authenticity but food tastes great to me!

A very good, quick Mexican restaurant. I generally get their burritos. The carnitas are by far the best meat that they offer. I would also recommend the blackened chicken. This is a great place to eat if you want a good, cheap and quick lunch or dinner.

This place wasn’t just good. It was«I wish I lived locally so I could eat here more often» good. I ordered the QB supreme quesadilla but they gave me a burrito. Typically I’d be annoyed but the burrito was better than any burrito I’ve ever had. Zero complaints here. The veggies are what really impressed me. Whenever you go somewhere the veggies are soggy or slathered in some sauce. The vegetables here looked like something you’d get at a backyard bbq. They were obviously cooked there and tasted incredible. I loved that they dice them in front of you. Chipotle and Moe’s has absolutely NOTHING on this place.

This has been a home for me since freshman year of high school. The management is awesome. Family atmosphere and a great tasting burrito. Recommend for everyone to give it a shot.

Our family of four(two adults and two children) absolutely LOVES, LOVES, LOVES this Authentic Mexican Restaurant! Oh Tango Mango, you have done it again! Each and every experience with this restaurant has put a smile on each of our faces. My favorite is the Blackened Cajun Chicken. I’m addicted! The menu says the chicken is rubbed with their special cajun spice mix, has rice, beans, salsa, guacamole & sour cream. To me it magical goodness. Tip: I have them add a little extra sour cream. My wife has bounced around the menu, but often gets the Fiesta Salad with Steak. Our son(he is nine years old) likes the Quesadillas and Nachos, we usually let him get both so we can all grab a few of the nachos and our daughter(who is now 14 and a picky eater) says she is addicted to the Chili and often orders the Fajitas plate. Way more then she can eat, which is just fine by this dad LOL! We used to have Mexican food maybe a handful of times a year before we found you… Great job all of you at Tango Mango, we will see you again next week! Yum Yum Give Me Some!

A couple of my colleagues have been talking this place up for a while and we finally went there for a work lunch today. I was skeptical due to the poor overall ratings the restaurant has received on Unilocal, but my concerns were put to rest very quickly. The food is delicious and cheap and the service is quick. I had a large carnitas(pork) burrito and I left full and happy. We ordered some chips and guac and salsa to share as well. I thought the salsa was delicious — it has just the right hint of lime — however, it is a little watery. The guac was just right and I think it had the perfect mix of flavors. Overall I was impressed with this place and I hope to return!

I have the chili verde super burrito. The taste was really good… great fresh flavors. Service was ok… but i did notice prices change every time i visit. If it keeps happening, then I will probably go someplace else for a while.
