I’m not sure why they’ve received so many good reviews. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night or our experience is an anomaly… Service left much to be desired. We asked to sit outside and were told that we could sit at any available table. The server came over 10 minutes later and asked if we wanted anything else… we mentioned that we hadn’t gotten anything yet. He seemed apologetic and took our drink orders. We waited another 15 minutes for those to come out and for him to take our order. At every point during the dining experience, we waited an extended period of time… for him to take our drink order… for him to bring us the drinks and take our food order… for the appetizer… for our meals… for the bill. I usually try to be pretty understanding because I know servers can get super busy. But it wasn’t busy, and he frequently visited the table next to ours. The food was hit or miss. We ordered the curry fries as an appetizer, and the curry sauce was really thin; it wouldn’t stick to the fries. The fries themselves were pretty good. I ordered baked haddock with vegetables and rice. The veggies and rice were really great, but the haddock was bland. My boyfriend ordered the chicken tenders and really enjoyed those. Perhaps we will try again and hope that the service is a little better.

The food was bad. The bag fall chicken wings came with wilted celery and carrots. The fish and chips were too oily. The salmon Greek salad was tasteless and the salmon was overcooked. The shepards pie was adequate. The beer was good.

Terrific burgers cooked to perfection. Beef stew is a keeper; plenty for left overs. Nacho plate was fun to share and ample for four adults. Great beer selection. Our waitress was attentive and yet we were able to visit, enjoying each other.

Went here last night with a large group. The staff were all very nice, though our waiter was a bit inexperienced — not knowing that a pinot grigio was a white wine! — though he was very attentive. I would certainly go back. The food was great too.

Who would have thought that a couple of vegans would be loving this Irish Pub! As we were walking by we glanced at the menu posted outside an there it was…“Vegan Moussaka”! They also have a wonderful«Kale and Beet Burger» and a mushroom one. Great beer and great vegan food. Oh, and great service to!

Good Beer, good ambiance, good service, friendly bartenders and waitresses. So far 5 star and one star goes off due to unmemorable food. Great family bar…

I’m not from the area so all I can see is Oreilly’s is one of the better bars I’ve been to. We are regulars mainly because we stop by after work. The bartenders and service overall are excellent and friendly! I’ve been served by David, Brad and Mark and had a great experience every time. There are different events such as Open Mic Night, UFC $ 10 night and Trivia night.(Karaōke night on Thursdays are the best!) There is a separate room in the back with another bar and the stage. There are plenty of beers on tap and great liquor selection. They also have a few tables outside which are perfect for spring/summer nights. Definitely stop by for some drinks and one of their events!

Treat yourself to quite enjoyable Sundays from 5pm-8pm with Bob Dallas, Chris Brown Stovall, Big Jack and many other featured talented musicians for their renditions of R&B, Rock & Roll and other favorites at Terry O’Reilly’s Irish Pub. Great food and waitstaff top off a terrific time!

A blackboard on the sidewalk advertising grilled fish tacos had caught my eye as I passed by the day prior, so when it came time to select a spot for dinner in the neighborhood within a walk of the Newton Center T station, Terry O’Reilly’s(TOR) came easily to mind. A row of four picnic tables each topped with an umbrella acted as a patio along the sidewalk. Inside were two dining areas, each centered around its own bar. We headed on in and down to the right to seek some relative quiet, and were rather successful, at least for the first half our our dinner. The young lady serving us was quite pleasant and helpful in offering her opinions once we asked. With the Daily Specials Grilled Fish Tacos $ 10.95 Served with homemade pico de gallo, and guacamole made from scratch being served as a count of three, we ordered one of those as our starter, along with a side of sweet potato fries, the Summer Spinach Salad $ 15.95 spinach leaf, grilled steak tips, strawberries, cranberries, goat cheese, grapes, with our house made raspberry vinaigrette, and their Kansas City pulled pork pizza $ 12.95 house made barbeque sauce, monterey jack & mozzarella cheese, with diced red onion. We estimated quite well as this was plenty for our party of 3. Our server thoughtfully brought out plates for each of us in advance of the arrival of the tacos and fries. The fish tacos were generous mounds of white fish tidbits concealing creamy guacamole on soft tortillas. It was a tasty and healthy start to our meal. The sweet potato fries were crisp and sweet; all you can ask for in a good sweet potato fry! We had asked for ketchup and honey mustard, but ended up enjoying them al natural instead. The pizza arrived cracker thin and generously topped. It looked great and tasted just as good. The crust had a crisp chew, and although I felt that they could have lightened up a bit on the bbq sauce, everything went well together flavorwise on the whole. The salad was filled with a bunch of fruits, globs of soft goat cheese, tender steak tips, and some unannounced walnuts which made for a nice mix of textures and tastes. The only negative were a number of wet wilted leaves I found among the fresh. It was also the weakest link of all we had.

This place was so much fun. The owners and bartender Tim, go all out to make you feel at home. We ate here twice, Chicken quesadilla, sweet potato fries, pizza, all of it was so yummy! We will def go back. We were here for the Boston Marathon, and will make this a regular stop.

Can’t say enough good things about the Easter Sunday Brunch this past Sunday at TOR’s. We had(I think) 33 people ranging in age from 8 months to…, well let’s just say we had every age range covered. Imagine having great service with this crew. Well we had great service. Quick drinks, and someone was always closeby to assist with any requests that came up. The food was great. Many of us opted for the Traditional Irish Breakfast. No complaints. Everything was spot on. The menu was great from breakfast items to the regular TOR’s menu items. Everyone had a great meal. And most important of all, we all had a great time and were able to be the somewhat loud(in a good way) crew we are. Thanks to everyone at Terry O’Reilly’s Pub!

Love this place! The food is fantastic, in my opinion they have absolute BEST sweet potato fries in the city. I have tried many different things on the menu, and was not disappointed with anything. Sandwiches are BIG and tasty, salads are fresh and have good presentation, and the drinks are poured correctly… Staff is happy and friendly and Warren is a super guy who cares about all the intricate details that make this place great. A true recipe for success…

Awful food in a charmless cliché by the T station, with a bump up for the enthusiastic service. The burger was only barely edible, after being drenched with A-1. The house wine was 2-buck chuck’s poor cousin. Fries were limp. The bar is boring and tired. Only if it’s Sunday night in Newton, and you’ve nowhere else to go.

I need more stars to give this place, Unilocal.Get on that. Terry O’s is the best place in all of Newton Centre, hands down. It’s run by an amazing family and staffed by the most unbelievably warm and friendly people. The space is inviting and cozy, the food is wonderful, and the prices are reasonable(I usually spend about $ 25 on a drink or two and a meal before tip). It’s just an all-around great place to be with friends. On Tuesday, Terry’s offers Booyah trivia with an *awesome* host. Thursdays is karaōke. There is often live music as well. Sports fans, they’ve usually got a couple different games going on the TVs; they also tend to offer specials on game days where Boston sports are involved, which is nice for those of us who don’t know much about sports but do enjoy food and drinks at our favorite bar. Try the fish and chips, the sweet potato fries, and the nachos with grilled chicken. Also, brunch on the weekends is relaxing and delicious. Take the T — Terry’s is right off the D line in Newton Centre. If you’re driving, parking in Newton Centre is easily available but you do have to feed the meter before 6 pm Monday — Saturday. There is free street parking around if you drive just a bit further away.

Driving into Boston we swung through this local neighborhood and stopped in for a late afternoon lunch. Wow — This was good! Nice welcome, great waiter, nice menu selection(surprisingly varied) and great food! The mac and cheese was creamy, loved the burger, smokey flavor, hand-cut fries and stew that was outstanding! A guilty please was taking some fries off off the burger plat and adding them to the stew! Wish we had time to savor a dessert! If I lived in the neighborhood i would be a regular. I may have to move.

We went to Terry O’Reilly’s for Booyah Trivia on Tuesday with our friends. They have been a few times and love it, so they recommended it. We apparently went through the«wrong» door when we entered, but the waitress who greeted us told us to just walk on through to the other side(yes, I realize I just quoted The Doors). We saw our friends immediately sitting at a high top table, which did end up being a BIT tight for 4 meals + trivia sheets, but it worked. Our waitress came over immediately to ask if we wanted drinks and came back often(but not in a pestering way) until we were ready to order. She was never far from sight and offered us refills before we could ask. After she took our order, our friend leaned in and quietly said«I am so excited! There used to be an AWFUL waitress here, who we always got, and I think this one replaced her!» I mentioned how the majority of the reviews on here panned the service and they said«it was probably that waitress!» My friend & I both went for the Moroccan Spiced Chicken(Chicken Breast marinated in Moroccan spices, grilled to perfection with a curried cous cous and served with fresh vegetables). My friend said her friend raved about this dish and got it every time and I had been intrigued by it(plus, since it used to be a Mediterranean place, I figured it would be good). The fresh veg was steamed broccoli, but it was crispy(not soggy/wilted, as steamed brocc tends to get) and the couscous was pitim(aka Israeli couscous), which means it’s bigger than normal couscous. It was a bit bland, but it ended up perfectly complimenting the spicy, super flavorful chicken. Each dish had 2 generously sized chicken breasts, so I ended up taking 1 home! Our husbands both went for burgers — hers for the Blue Cheese, Bacon & Caramelized Onion and mine for the regular. I didn’t try a bite(although they looked decent), but the fries were great! Nicely seasoned and a decent size. Not a huge order of them, but that’s ok. Our meal was expensive($ 40+ tip for just my husband & me), but the guys did share some buffalo wings and our friends had a few drinks, so that adds up. Trivia-wise, it was great. It was much faster than my beloved Stump! trivia and the trivia DJ was funny and easy to hear. I will definitely be back. And hopefully next time we’ll do much better!
