I’ve gone here twice, both for lunch. First time I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich with mozz and red sauce. The chicken was DISGUSTING. Very chewy and had a very weird taste to it. The red sauce was not appetizing at all. Later on it actually made me sick. I waited about 2 months to go back and this time I ordered a turkey and cheese sub. I asked for just a plain turkey and cheese. They asked if I wanted lettuce and tomato, I said no JUST turkey and cheese on bread. I picked it up and got to my car, opened it up and ofcourse there was L&T on there. I brought it back in and told the guy I asked for it plain. he then asked if I wanted mayo. wtf?! I said no just turkey and cheese. He opened up the sandwich, grabbed the lettuce and tomato off and wrapped it back up and gave it to me. I got to work and opened it up again and there was still lettuce and tomato all over it. Never again.

This place has an incredible selection of sandwiches. If you can’t find anything that you would try, then you are to picky of an eater. The bread is wonderful. I’m curious if they make it there or not. I would give this five stars if the ordering process was a little more organized. It seems to be somewhat of a mystery on where to order or who takes your order. Especially when they are busy. But the food is worthy of five stars for sure.

When Joey G’s first opened I was initially taken aback by their pricing(even for the Newtown area), but quickly dismissed it based on the quality and portions of the food. It’s been several years since I’ve been back in, but my past 2 recent experiences have left, quite literally, a bad taste in my mouth. The produce is wilted, the fruit mushy, the chicken lacking flavor, and the wraps lacking filling, leaving you with that dry, wheat-y flavor. The only reason for my 2 stars is for the friendly cashiers that I’ve encountered both times. But even they aren’t enough to make $ 10 worth it, considering ½ will inevitably end up in the trash.

Joe did a fantastic job at our wedding! The guests RAVED about the food and Joe and his team did everything they possibly could to ensure our event was a resounding success. Although my wife and I are definite«Type A» personalities, Joe attended to every detail personally. He & his staff even helped our rental company set up before our celebration and broke everything down afterwards. Awesome guy, awesome chef!!!

I am a bit surprised by the negative reviews for this place. i have gone back(at least five times) SINCE reading the negative reviews, and i just don’t see the same issues. In fact, the staff there recognize me and make small talk while my order is being made. The food is always delicious and filling, and I am especially fond of their grilled vegetable wraps. i never have to wait long, and thought it isn’t cheap, the amount of food you get makes it a decent value. I’d pay the sale for a salad at Saladworks, but it wouldn’t be loaded up with grilled vegetables, fresh mozzarella, crab cake, steak, or whatever the special is that day. One woman that others have identified as «rude» does work there and she’s actually quite nice. She knows who she is :-). She is rarely working the counter, and is only ever in food prep(a non-customer-facing role), leaving two other very friendly young women at the registers. Food prep workers have always had gloves on. I have looked EVERY time. I held jobs — including one at a very pricey Restaurant — a Newtown staple — and the cleanliness here is on par with that. This place in a way reminds me of Jaime Hollander’s in new Hope. I digress. I still like this place; the food and the people. In fact, if Joe is there he often will go out of his way to say hello and make a nice plate of food up for his customers,

Very disappointed each time I have been here. The staff behind the counter are very rude. I tried to give them another chance in hopes that I would have had a better experience and it was just a fluke. Moving forward, I will not give them another dime of my money. Not to mention their so called«Italian» food, is not that good!

Food here is good, but the prices are sky high and the service is often lacking… has potential, but I really only come here because it is so close to my home.

I go here once in a while, and honestly, it is getting a little too expensive for my tastes. I can get a pretty decent lunch elsewhere for25– 30% less cost.

Stop in for Sunday breakfast after soccer. Great breakfast food for a deli. Staff are friendly and attentive… get the farmer’s omelet with fruit!

Joey G’s has delicious food! Really actually fine tasting, especially for the price. The reason for the 3 stars, service. The cooks are actually quite pleasant, but the lady who is seemingly always running the register acts quite rude, annoyed that you would dare bother her. Initially I assumed she was having a bad day but the other 10 or so times I had entered she acted the same. Really puts a damper on you day if that lady rings you up. Go! but be ready for some sass, annoyance, and plain old rudeness when you pay at the register. This is at the location off the Newtown Bypass. Bottom line: GREAT food, TERRIBLE service.

This one is difficult. Joey G runs this deli near my home. My young son likes to ride his bike down the road to get a snack there. He enjoys the sense of independence this engenders. It is the only place within a safe distance. Yet, when I went in for lunch or to pick up milk or eggs for home use, I became wary of the sanitation standards. The milk was sold after the«sell by» date. There was deli food outside the refrigeration unit when not in use. The floor behind the counter was not always clean. Then, I read the Bucks County Department of Health Inspection Report from 11/13, and saw that there were other significant problems, like no hand washing sink, mouse droppings, old fly paper, open doors without screens, and no soap for washing. These were all signs of failing quality control and lack of supervision. Still, the food prepared there was decent to good. And, Joe does a good job with his catering. I have had many experiences with his victuals at business lunches, and never had any real issues with it. In fact, his crab cakes are excellent. The website informs that there are now 3 locations for Joey G. I applaud his success, but suspect that he has not caught up with the extra personnel and training needed to manage a larger operation. As Joe is a well known chef, it may behoove him to hire an experienced manager to run these shops, rather than attempt to handle everything himself or in family. No one likes to see a promising food outlet struggle to maintain high standards. It is too easy to lose customers who won’t give it a second chance. But, more importantly, no one should have to run the risks that attend to dirty facilities. Because this deli is in our home court, we will no doubt return and check out the improvements. If they straighten out, we will remain customers(and raise the rating). If not, most will migrate out of Joey G’s orbit and find more acceptable places to buy our meals, snacks and drinks.

I love the joey’s version of the chef salad, it is the best. I have tried other food items on the menu and my expectations are always exceeded. The staff is upbeat and friendly it’s a great place.

I stopped in just after 8 am for breakfast. It was my first visit. I ordered a breakfast burrito& coffee. I thought the coffee could have been hotter but I stood at the counter watching the guy make several orders. My very nice burrito was done & I took it to the other counter to pay. Then I sat down at a table near the window. The burrito was delicious although I thought it was a bit overstuffed with peppers and their fiery seeds. It was as I was eating I noticed how dirty the place was. There was food & debris all over the floor & the window sill had a long dead plant & its soil all over. No one had cleaned that area in a very long time & no one had swept and mopped at least from the day before. A place that it’s dirty at 8 am has a serious problem. I lost my appetite & left. I don’t care how tasty food is .The place isn’t clean.

Ewww, Ewwww, with a side of EWWWWW! Unsanitary!!! Seriously, I wouldn’t be surprised if people get food poisoning from this place all the time. So I go to order a Turkey sandwich. The girl behind the counter takes my order. A young kid walks in to join her, wiping his wet hands on his apron. I can only imagine he just got finiahed taking a big olé’ crap! No matter what he was doing, it’s clear he didn’t dry his hands. Anyway, the girl gives him my order and he proceeds to make it. He grabs the slices of bread, without using gloves. So I begin to get angry, however I still wait to see where he’s going with my sandwich. Then(you’re gonna love this) he proceeds to grab the lunch meat out of the metal tin with his bare hands!!! HISBAREFREAKINGHANDS!!! So I say loudly, «Are you kidding me with this?» He turns and says«What?»(Which tells me this is a frequent thing, since he has no idea what he’s doing wrong) I explain how the whole tin is contaminated now, and how I’m not eating that sandwich. He then puts the sandwich in the fridge, so I assume he’ll give it to the next person that orders a turkey sandwich. I just laugh and walk out. Disgusting!!!

if i could give joey g’s less stars, i would. this place is gross– the staff are unkempt and i seriously question the cleanliness and food-handling. i ate here once and don’t plan on repeating the experience. everything is reheated in the microwave. do yourself a favor and skip it– the menu offering sound good on paper but the execution doesn’t live up to it.

First Off– these 1 – 2 star people– from July– Kev G, Lou D, you guys stick to Wawa. Nothing wrong with wawa and I enjoy the #69 chick salad hoagie. HOWEVER, you cannot compare apples and oranges my friends, no be everything to everyone unless you are bank of America and a liar. So maybe, this is not your place. That cools. You have nice VW and I have a nice Porsche. THISISNOT A CONVENIENCESTORE! I come from the food business and I am the biggest snob out there. Cheap is not a word I know. Who said being expensive is a bad thing? I like expensive, as long as I feel satisfied. I dolt think Joey is expensive for what he produces in food for hard work and love of his craft. 20 bucks on lunch the other day, for me that Joey whipped up. Friggiin awesome. That was not typical, but hey felt good and treated myself… Joey is a TOP chef with several successful businesses. Prices are very fair for the quality, freshness, and size. Joe did a great job pricing things and his rent is not cheap in Newtown. You want to complain, go the center of newtown and buy a cupcake for 5.00…what? Zebra stripped whale ice cream? Hello,…guys get with it… your getting a deal… be realistic and don’t expect Wal-Mart prices and Nordstrom style products and services… if you don’t understand that last statement, go to wawa. Joe has been around the block and don’t let the store size fool you. It is by far the best food for lunch, dinner, or huge catering needs. Joey also caters and has great presentation. Headed there now… meatloaf cupcakes wrapped with bacon, macaroni cupcakes, potato pancake salad with crab cake… forget about it! Rock on Joey– Noah Ring

This is a gem of a deli, extremely close to the industrial park where I’m working for the summer. The hoagies are amazing. The bread is fresh, soft and crunchy at the same time. All of the meat has been delicious, consistently wow-ing me. The staff is extremely nice and inviting. And the specials are, well, special. The BBQ pulled-pork sandwich is a star, as was the special the other day: sliced pork, long peppers, provolone, and asparagus all toasted on a long deli roll. They have(what look to be) great vegetarian options, about 4 sandwiches and as many salads. There is a ready-made counter with potato salad, etc. There is also a great variety of chips, drinks, and coffee. I will be eating at Joey G’s at least 2 or 3 times a week this summer.
