The man working at the counter was very rude to me for asking a question about a meal. If you cant even answer 1 simple question without someone being rude than you shouldn’t run a business. I don’t see the place lasting that long with customer service like they had. Was not only rude to me, but to my friend as well. The food itself was so/so, but seems like it could be replicated at home. I had ordered a burger as well as poutine. My friend and I had always wanted to try it so we both ordered it. It wasn’t too good. The gravy was extremely runny. Half of my fries were soaked in gravy and drowning in it. The cheese wasn’t too melted and everything was just mediocre to be honest. The experience of bad customer servive plus shrug-gable food caused me to star it a 1. Will not be going back.

After 15 years of searching since moving from Montréal to the US, this is by far the best and closest to authentic Poutine I’ve ever tried. That includes the one I tried after a hockey tournament in Toronto. Now if only this was something I could get in the city of Chicago after a night out. Whenever I’m in the area I plan a stop at Poutee in Golf Mill and it’s the first and only place I’ll recommend for Poutine in the Chicago area.

Surprise find that I will need to come back and try the other menu items. Fries were made fresh and only took a couple minutes.

I live really close to Golf Mill, but rarely go – it’s honestly one of the crappiest malls to shop at. I needed to make a quick stop at Bath and Body Works, walked through the food court, and noticed that there was a new restaurant. The design of Poutee is strange. Hard to place as to why it’s designed as if it is on a large field with large yellow carnival-esque stripes and fences everywhere. Poutee is supposedly a poutine focused restaurant that also serves other«comfort foods» like hot dogs, lasagna, Italian beef, meatballs, mac n cheese, chicken wings, soup, and paninis. I’ve always wanted to try poutine before and have never actually gotten the chance. However, everything that I have read as characteristics of poutine, don’t really fit my experience with Poutee poutine. My friend and I split a small poutine, which was a bit more than $ 3. The woman at the register was very friendly and also told me that they have a $ 5 minimum on cards. It took a little over 5 minutes to make because they were making it fresh. Everything was piping hot. The gravy was extremely flavorful, but quite watery. The fries were nothing extraordinary. And the cheese wasn’t squeaky, very melty. My friend and I agreed that it was most likely mozzarella and that Poutee poutine was just okay, nothing amazing nor a place we will be craving to visit again.
