Sears Appliance Repair

«Get your coats kids, we’re going to Sears». Mr Brady.
Much like the 70’s this store is a relic to older, less glamorous days. The merchandise is crap, save the tools and appliances.
The associates just don’t care and the past few times I have been there, the service is so weird, I look for the hidden cameras. This must be a joke, right?
I have resorted to buying my stuff online and picking it up here.

Sears has changed a lot for the better over the last ten years, and this particular location was was a decent shopping experience. The store is located within Golf Mill Mall. They carry a lot of women’s clothing. I struggled to find petite sizes in the pants section. It looked like most of the outfits were made for larger people than me. I spent over 40 min in the store and not a single person came to provide me with help. Perhaps they were just busy because of the weekend. The upside was all of the seasonal sales. If only I could have found something that fit. I’ll check them out again when I’m back in Niles.

I was very disappointed with my recent visit to purchase watch batteries. I was in on
Saturday and spoke with a gentleman named Larry. I was told the price for batteries
Was $ 13.50. I asked why when they used to be $ 10.50. He couldn’t explain the price difference. He just said that’s the price. I found him to be very sarcastic and cocky. I actually felt like I was imposing on his time, yet there was no one else there. I asked where the gentleman Mike was, his reply «i m in charge «I’ve been here before when
Mike was working, my visit was pleasant, he explained prices, answered questions I had, I had his full attention and was treated as a customer should be, politely. As a matter of fact at that time when I was in, a customer came in while Mike was waiting on me, he pleasantly told the customer he would be with them shortly. Never rushing me. I’m a paying customer that deserves respect, if Larry is working on my next visit
I’ll turn around and walk out. Very unhappy.

I dropped by the Sears Watch and Jewelry repair today because Mike is there and i was told he needed to service Omega watches and i asked the girl thursday about fixing my wall clock as well. Its nothing special, but sentimental to me.
Mike was there, and expeditiously took care of replacing my battery and informed me of every step he took as usual :)
I brought along the old wall clock (assuming it would need to be looked at and he would call with an estimate.) he looked at it, and immediately was able to quote a price and even better… Said it would be done in approx 20 min!
Ive had nothing but good experiences hete, Mike has been so helpful, courteous and friendly each and every time. I know all too often, people dont take the time to post GOOD comments, but i truly wont trust my watches with anyone else.
Ive been here with Tag, Movado, and even my Citizen and eaxh one has been taken care of and explained to me. Thank you Mike! Thank you Sears Watch and Jewelry Repair. You have a loyal customer!

This is for the appliance repair department.
After purchasing a new home in the area I realized I was having issues with my furnace. I contacted Sears because that is where the original owner purchased the unit. The person was friendly at first, but after about 20 minutes looking at my furnace without pulling out a single tool, he attempted to tell me that I need over $ 2000 worth of repairs. He offered to send somebody else to come take a look and possibly sell me a package for my furnace as well as my air compressor. Thinking something was wrong I contacted an HVAC repairman. He asked me what they claimed was wrong, and after I told him he said there was no way that you can have a problem with the furnace like that in the amount of time he spent. Buyer beware.
They come in telling you that there are 1 million things wrong, to scare you into a new unit.
Fyi it was a $ 10 fix to correct the issue.
Don’t deal with sears for repairs. You will be overcharged unimpressed and raise your blood pressure up 10 points.

One star is the lowest I can give? They deserve none.
Bought a vacuum cleaner March 2012 — over $ 400, it was highly rated. It has stopped working 3 times. Once I took it for repair to the is store, it was out of 3 weeks, they never called to say when it would be ready. I could never reach them by phone to find out when it was ready. So I was without it for a month. Finally I went in and it was there. Then I got a robo call every day for another month telling me it was ready to be picked up.
Then 6 months later it stops working again, I talk to national repair and they send me a replacement part, which worked for one week.
Now I can’t reach a person to talk to in the store by phone — they transfer me to the national 800 number for repair. Those folks tell me I have to take it to repair in the store and fill out a form to see if its eligible to be replaced. Which means they will send it out to an off site repair facility, again, and I’ll wait another month of it to be repaired, hahaha, or replaced. I don’t even want the same model! The thing just doesn’t work.
I will NEVER BUY AN APPLIANCE FROM SEARS AGAIN. The product is defective and it is taking more time to get «satisfaction» than the damn thing is worth.

I am an old-​timer. I remember when Golf Mill originally opened in the early 1960’s, and the Sears store was the proud «anchor» of the shopping center.
I remember reading in the mid-​1970s that the Golf Mill Sears store was the busiest store in the entire Sears empire. You could get almost anything there: candy, complex auto repairs, a full array of tools, house paint, apparel, insurance, just name it! The store satisfied the needs of Middle America and was very successful.
When I was a young single guy in the 70’s, I outfitted my first condo with window treatments, rugs, soft goods, appliances, paint, and a garage door opener from Sears.
But that was then and now is now…
What I am going to say describes this store, but probably fits most other Sears stores. I have visited Sears stores in other cities, and the story is similar.
As you step into the store, you enter a time warp of the late 1960s. The store looks bleak, the furnishings and fixtures look out-​of-​date, merchandise is poorly displayed, lighting is harsh and more like a K-​mart than a mid-​level department star, most auto repair is gone, most of the tools and hardware are gone, the clothing assortment is poorly presented, they don’t offer paint, and the place looks empty.
BUT, they do have a «The Kardashians» clothing display right at the main entrance to the store. What genius thought that licensing these skanks’ names would appeal to any teenage girl with an IQ above 80? (I never saw anyone browsing in this section.)
Also, their pricing is not really competitive with comparable stores like Kohl’s — and even JCP.
Salespeople seem to either know nothing or are not to be found. Apparently they have not received product training, merchandising, nor customer service. All they do is man the registers and make little effort to answer questions. I recently stopped by their electronics department and asked one of their guys a question about a TV they were selling: he looked at the product box for information and could not find it — so he said he didn’t know, and knew of no source for further product support.
I’m being charitable with my two star rating; but I am influenced by my memories of a better store at a better time.
So it is.

I am very frustrated with my appliance purchase experience.
I bought a microwave hood online for in-​store pickup at the Niles location. We picked up the microwave without any problem. Our contractor opened the box a couple days later and discovered a dent in the front of the microwave and a loose door. I called the store to figure out if they had another microwave in-​stock so I could bring it in for an exchange. I had to call the store FOUR times in order to track down someone who could help me.
The first three times I called the store — and to be clear, I was calling the local phone number for the store — I followed the prompts for appliances only to be transferred to some national call center. When someone answered and I explained the situation, I was told I had to call the store directly. No one would transfer me or give me a better number to reach someone at the store. One woman put me on hold for nearly 15 minutes without explanation and I eventually hung up.
On the fourth call, instead of following the prompts, I just started saying «Manager» which led to me getting connected to an actual store manager who transferred me to the store’s appliance department. I explained the situation and was handed off to another person. I explained the situation again and the woman insisted I needed to call the national Sears number, not the store. I pleaded with her not to pass me off to another number, told her I had called multiple times and been told I had to deal with the store directly. After I explained my situation AGAIN, she said, «Oh, yes, you should be talking to us.»
The woman said there were no other microwaves like mine in stock and that I could either get one on back order or I could return the microwave for a full refund. I am 9 months pregnant and need the microwave installed asap, so I asked if my contractor could return it and was told that was fine.
Today my contractor returned my microwave. He called from the store to say that Sears would only give him two options: (1) he could get a store credit, or (2) he could bring the microwave back to me and I could call Sears’s national 800 number (seriously??) to find the appropriate address where I could MAIL THE MICROWAVE and see if the store would agree to provide me with an actual refund. I told my contractor to just take the store credit, even though I wish I never had to shop at Sears again.
I can’t blame the store entirely for what are obviously terrible national problems — the routing of phone calls and the return policy. But the store did tell me to just bring the microwave back to them for a refund. I shouldn’t have been surprised that this was also incorrect information.

Their Black Friday prices were great! I was shopping for a 3-​year-​old girl who likes Dora the Explorer, and I was so pleased with the selection. I found two really cute dressed for $ 19 each and a kids backpack for $ 11. The store was well-​organized and clean. The associates at the register could have been better, but their supervisor (who dealt with my tax exempt letter) was extremely friendly and helpful.

I went to this Sears to buy a vacuum ⁵⁄₂₅ and paid in full. I dn want the models in their crushed boxes or the boxes that looked like it was opened and resealed badly. The clerk sd that new models will be in ⁵⁄₃₀. I went ⁵⁄₃₀ 12:15pm ran the receipt under their comp and said that it was not in and they will call. I ckd w their receiving mgr. who said was on the truck so give them 1 – 2 hrs to unload. I came back 2:05 and the same thing and no one to talk to, so I figured that they will call. No calls over the weeks so finally I went back to get a refund and they said the vacuum was picked-​up? I asked by whom if I have the receipt? Either they gave it to the 1^st person who wanted it or it was stolen but they never called me to say it was in stock. It’s not like I can’t buy a vacuum from anybody else. I am also running into this problem w Sears on a refrigerator. Their employees never call back. I don’t lose, Sears loses thousands of $$.

I tend to only buy what’s on the clearence rack. And that’s just about everything in the store. I have found Lands End shirts that were originally 45 dollars for under 6 bucks. I know that this store is F*#ked up. My mom bought a snow blower from them and when she got home with it. The store called her and asked when she was going to pick it up? Right away!

So my gas lawn mower crapped out last week and I decided to go green and pick up an electric one. Went online to check their inventory and saw that it was available at the Sears in Golf Mill. Had to pick up the kids’ pictures from Sears Portrait Studio so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone. Well, I was wrong.
Me: Hi, I’d like to buy this electric lawn mower here (on display). Do you have one in stock?
Clueless salesgirl: We don’t have it. I know, because someone came in earlier asking about the same one.
Me: Well, your website says you have it in stock.
girl: The website is probably wrong and it’s probably not updated. I dunno, someone must have made a mistake.
Me: So, you’re telling me that someone manually updates the inventory on your website?
girl: I dunno anything about computers. I can check other stores for you.
Me: Well, I’m here now and really don’t want to drive to another store to pick it up. Can you sell me the floor model?
girl: No, it’s against our policy to sell floor models. You can order it online and have it delivered if you don’t to make the drive.
Me: Yeah, but I’ll have to pay for the delivery fee which is about 50.00.
girl: I can show some gas models we have in stock …
Me: walking away, shaking my head in disbelief.
Got home, went on amazon and found similar mower for about 10% less with free super saver shipping. Should arrive in about 4 days.
Sears, you suck!
Get your head out of the sand. Don’t know how you’ve managed to stay in business for over 100 years.
