Great food and drinks and always super nice staff. Most welcoming coffee house in Norfolk if you ask me.

Latte was OK. Lemon poppy muffin was OK. Not much to say about it. I’d recommend it if you don’t have another fav spot and are close, but I wouldn’t actively seek it out otherwise.

A great coffee spot. I came here wheb the weather turned south. Nothing beats a nice cup of coffee on a rainy day. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. The staff is friendly. And, most importantly, the coffee is pretty good. They serve breakfast all day long. So unlike some coffee joints, you can get your food fix here too. For breakfast, they have quesadillas, burritos and your standard eggs and bacon. I had the breakfast burrito. It was fair, a little too heavy on the black beans, but good nonetheless. In addition to breakfast, they will make you paninis also. I did enjoy the french press you can order. For a coffee fiend like myself, being able to continually refill your cup four times is great. For less fiendish coffee drinkers, the french press would work well for splitting amongst a group of friends/colleagues. The quality of the coffee was better than starbucks and leagues above a 7⁄11. Not knock your socks off, but pretty darn good. To be fair, I am a bit of a coffee snob and hard to impress in that department. Ordering straight from a guatemalan farmer will do that. In all, I would visit again – especially if this rain doesnt let up.

Food was excellent. Loved the brie cheese and raspberry preserves with the the ciabatta bread! My smoothie was also good too. Will be back to try other foods, since it’s right by ODU.

I have been going here since I’ve been attending Old Dominion University. However, my visits were always sporadic. I remember my very first order 3 years ago. The first thing I ordered was a Java Shake Frappé. It struck me as quite pricey but the drink itself was very decadent. Their other drinks like iced coffees are very well priced though and strong. They have unique flavors like lavender as well which I love. I have also had meetings here with fellow students and professors. Can be heavy in volume during the school/work week but it mellows out here around 6pm. Sometimes there’s even live music so that’s always nice. There are three things that I most enjoy about this place: the very relaxed and inviting atmosphere that is not at all pretentious, the SUPER friendly customer service that does not make me think twice about tipping well even if I am just grabbing a quick iced drink(probably the friendliest service I’ve ever received at a café), and their amazing iced chai tea latte. I wish iced chai tea latte tasted like this in more places. It’s perfect to me. *takes sip of chai latte* AHHH, refreshing !

Borjos has my heart. Finishing my 4th year at ODU and this place has become a 2nd home to me. The coffee is strong(and I’ve acquired high tolerance to caffeine at this point in school) and you get a free refill with every cup. There’s a variety of different tables chairs sofas outdoor seating to choose from, good music(at a volume where I can still focus on work) and the staff are genuine caring people. I love that the wall art is always local, that there’s live music some nights, and the happy hour. The food is fresh although it IS overpriced. I can’t say much abt the lattes & all that bc I drink my coffee black. Is it weird to mention their toilet paper is amazing? Oh and lots of good looking people of all ages come in here if you’re lookin to fall in love at a coffee shop.hehe. I buy their house coffee grounds and make it at my house and I STILL manage to find myself here a couple times a week… I love you Borjos never change xoxo

BORJOISTHEBEST! Such a great coffee shop to have on the ODU campus. I love their drink offerings(including the on tap beer and wine!) and their freshly baked goodies. THEBESTFOODITEM by far is their chicken salad. I literally crave it! Very meaty, lightly dressed, with a crunch of walnut, and a hint of cranberry for sweetness. Get in it a sandwich, get it in a wrap, whatever you do, you won’t be disappointed. They have live music a few nights a week and overall, it has such a great vibe. Believe it or not, I actually met my husband here on a blind date. His friend suggested we meet here since it would be different from the normal dinner date scenario. We had drinks(I had coffee and a beer) and chatted for hours on their comfy couches. We have since graduated from ODU and married(we even took our engagement photos here!), but we still like to visit and reminisce over chicken salad wraps and giant chocolate chip cookies.

I love Borjo! Convenient location for college students. Love the atmosphere and various menu options for everyone that they offer. I definitely love their«create your own sandwich» and I also recommend the Milky Way latte. They also have really good poppyseed, cranberry, and double chocolate muffins!

*****4.5 stars***** Borjo served the best iced mocha I’ve had in a long time. Offered in regular, white, or black & white, opted for the black & white. It was a perfect mix of espresso, chocolate, and white chocolate. It was refreshing and just the pick me up that I needed to get me through the rest of the morning. I also had the breakfast burrito and added bacon to it. The burrito was quite good, but there was a little more black beans and red pepper than I was expecting. Although I added bacon, I couldn’t taste that it was there until after several bites. I enjoyed that the tomato-basil tortilla was toasted. Customer service was warm and friendly, with the cashier answering all my menu questions without hesitation. My iced mocha was ready in minutes with my breakfast burrito following shortly after. There’s a good amount of sitting inside, with a mix of high tops, regular tables, and communal tables. Plenty of metered parking, but could get difficult during peak hours as there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

This is only the second time I have been to this coffee house located just off the ODU campus. My first time was just prior to a remodel a year ago, so it was nice to see the fresher look that needed to occur. When you talk about coffee and ODU there is only one clear choice, it is Borjo’s. Yes there is the chain coffee house across the street to get a fix and buy a book, but it’s not the same. I’ve been to both and this will have the vibe that I think most will agree is much more appealing. It was nice to meet up with a friend for a coffee and discuss our latest finds in the area. Located on the main drag on Monarch Way with the ODU bookstore and other eateries frequented by students. It is central as it gets. Parking is by meter if you are within a block, it heavily enforced. If your willing to venture out a bit it’s free on street parking. There are also nearby garages that will cost you, but there is no reason in my opinion to use them. Upon entering it did not seem too much different, but absolutely more fresh. A small counter has been added by their alcohol area. I just don’t see this getting a lot of use, but better than nothing like they had before. New floors, tables and chairs. Of course the cool fireplace feature remains and there were a lot of folks packed in around it too! I happen to score the only remaining table and secured it with my coat. The dining room area was clean, no debris in sight. Unless a more down time this does not seem like an ideal study spot for students. It was somewhat loud and the tables really don’t seem conducive since they are small. I waited in the short line and looked over the pastries and muffins which looked super. A muffin named Morning Harvest appealed to me and I asked the staff about the selections. The young lady, most likely a student was helpful, friendly and smiled. So the muffin it was and ordered a white chocolate mocha which is a staple in most any coffee shop. They had it and I went large. Prices compare to other shops. Check out is electronically off an iPad and you can leave your tip. By the time I sat down my friend joined me and my muffin and coffee was delivered to the table, although it is more of self serve call your name type place which is fine with me. But they elevated their service and I always want to make mention of that. The muffin was warmed up and scrumptious on a real plate, however no fork provided which would have been a nice touch for them to think about. The coffee was a visual mess running over the side, so bad I could not bring myself to take a pic. The taste is what matters and it was delicious! I did go to the counter to request a fork and they had real metal forks. In a world of plastic by other coffee joints this was a plus. The entire 45 min or so the business remained full and bustling. I saw staff constantly around cleaning and picking up even though it is self busing. My dishes were picked up as well. I cannot say enough how this impresses me, it has unfortunately become the norm to not have a respectable level of service at these type of walk up counter places. I also found the restroom clean, in working order and with proper supplies. In the world of coffee houses in Hampton Roads this is a solid choice. I have frequented most and can attest this is above the hoards of chains and other independents. The fact you can get alcohol may, or may not be a pro in your choice to visit. The things important to me are clean, good coffee at an affordable price and a higher level of service offered. They delivered on these parameters. Having to pay to park has me hold back a half star and round down a bit. Borjo’s is a solid 4 coffee house. I would recommend and will be back soon.

Borjo is an awesome local coffeehouse located right at the heart of my alma mater, ODU. Admittedly, when I was a student here I only came here a couple of times. The first time I just came for a spoken word poetry night and didn’t eat anything. The second time was a quick pop in and out but the coffee and pastry(cranberry muffin) I got was pretty good. At the end of this past summer I was at a two week job training hosted at ODU, and they gave us meal cards to use at select places on campus. Borjo was the best option compared to all chain fast food, so I consistently came here for lunch for two weeks straight. I must say that trying so much off of their menu got me hooked on this place. So far I haven’t gotten a single thing from here that I haven’t liked. I must recommend«The Monarch Way», the Thai chicken salad, and any of their fresh squeezed juices. The Texas wrap and chicken salad wrap were also delicious. The service here is always polite and with a smile. Furthermore, it’s safe to say that Borjo is your best bet when it comes to dining options on ODU’s campus.

The ambiance inside is nice and can see why college students like to hang out there and study. We ordered two chai tea lattes(small) and paid a little over $ 8. to me it was overpriced for what we got. When I took the first sip, it was like drinking a warm chai tea latte. Next time, I’ll say I mean it when I say«HOT chai tea latte». :(

I enjoy my morning pick me ups. Of course they serve coffee here but also fresh squeezed juices, pastries, scones, croissants, and they have a lunch menu as well. Now i’ve laid off coffee for now. :(Will come back to it though later on.

In the heart of ODU located behind the Ted Constant Center on 45th street. I only been here twice and the two times I’ve been here I fall in love with cafes like Borjo’s over and over again. It’s one of the best and convenient locations. I’m biased bc they neighbor Frank’s(I LOVE their food). I feel welcomed when I come in. I’ve been to many cafes with a snobbish and hipster vibe like I’m just here to have a cup of coffee… lol. It’s a super chill spot that all served kinds of coffee drinks ranging from fraps to lattes to ice cream shakes. Try the mocha Java shake! Freshly made pastries. I tried their cookies and brownies which are delish. Drooling just thinking about it. Even their food is spot on. The last time I went they had this panini flatbread called«Monarch Way» which is everything I would put in a sandwich. It was perfect!!! It filled with turkey, bacon, avocado, cheddar, tomato, and basil. They have all their condiments near the register and it was big plus for me to see that they carry honey and Sriracha. That’s how you know this place is legit! Bc it keeps up with the ever changing taste of costumers. When I have the time I will have to come back to try their wine selection. Support Borjo’s!!!

Went here with a colleague before a meeting. Nice atmosphere with lots of natural lighting. I had a coupon for a cup of coffee and this was a great place to kill some time. If I were in college, this is were I would be hanging out to study and supply my coffee addiction. My colleague had a Chai Latte and seemed to enjoy it. I need to come back here and try out any of the food items to give it a fairer review. Restrooms were clean and the wait staff was extremely friendly. Only issue I had was parking. I think I fed the meter something like $ 2 for 2 hours. I hate paying to park, but others might be used to it. Don’t mess with the ODU parking enforcement… they will get you.

Campus Local Coffee shop. Conveniently located a block away from the«art district.» I love that they serve 100% real fruit smoothies and juices. I mean, what else is there to say that all other reviews haven’t already said. It’s a coffee shop, far better than the corporate giant right next to the bookstore. Haven’t had their food or coffee, so I’ll update this when I can. Oh, fair warning, it gets crowded sometimes, just like any other coffee places in Norfolk really.

I been wanting to come to this place for sometime, all great reviews. I must admit, parking is a little challenging when your not from ODU. After that, I have no complaints once or ever. The atmosphere is second to none. Service does not skip a beat, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and fast. Omg the muffins, to die for. Wanted them all lol. The coffee drinks very original and delicious, Milky Way latte a must try. I had the chicken Brie roasted tomato pannini, omg three ingredients and absolutely delicious !!! I’m hooked, I’ll definitely be coming back for more.

YAY! I had a favorite coffee house, but found out that they didn’t have consistently good food handling practices. That left me in the lurch. After trying several other local shops and failing to be impressed, I ventured out a little further to give Borjo’s a try. I’m sooo happy that I did because this place blows away any other coffee shop that I’ve been to. And, the food is damned good, to boot! I can drink a mocha here and it doesn’t have that gritty powdery feel on my tongue. It’s perfectly blended with whatever else I’ve chosen(syrups or Frangelica-yes, booze– or whatever). And a dollop of whipped crème on top. Yes, please and thank you! Add to that friendly *gasp* friendly faces! Yes, at a coffee shop in Norfolk! I know, I can hardly believe it myself! *lol* But, see for yourself. This is the place where that happens, regularly! I can enthusiastically recommend the muffins, especially warmed. And, any mochas or lattes. I haven’t had a mediocre one, yet. They’ve all been great. There’s a wrap… I really don’t remember what it was called. But, it had red onions and was delicious! They’ve got huge cookies, yummy as well. Frangelica(hazelnut liquor) added to any drink has been a very nice, natural addition. Better than Bailey’s imo. But, to each their own-both are available. Kahlua is, also, available. They have beer and wine, too. Simply, bring a book or laptop, ipad or whatever, and order something-anything. Then take a seat and enjoy. Wifi is free, too. Come to chill and enjoy your stuff in-house and I doubt you’ll be disappointed. And if you happen to look up and see me there, feel free to say hi! :)

I was craving for smoothie today and Unilocal found me this place. I’ve had their coffees and pasties before and is was very good. So I wasn’t a bit concern that they will fail me in this area. However, I didn’t want the fake fruits and extra pounds of sugar. The kind gentlemen behind the counter explained what was in it and walked me through it. I got the strawberry-banana smoothie which was their popular one. You can mix fruits to your liking and add extras to it like kale or ice cream. But if you add ice cream then It would be a shake and not smoothie?? hmmm… Just mentioning what the kind gentlemen said. So anyways my smoothie had the real fruits(strawberries and banana), 100% Apple juice and that’s it! The juice gave it enough sweetness you don’t have to add sugars or syrups! Yes, this is what I was going for! very very good smoothie. I would never go to that«other» place again for smoothies.
