The food here is pretty good! What else can I say? However, it is really pricey. Not super expensive, but it can get up there. I suggest getting the lunch specials, because they are a better deal for the food and the price. Their fried ice cream is amazing, by the way!

I miss Japan. This is the best Japanese restaurant in the area. Very clean & service was really good.

Not bad. A bit over priced for what you can get in the area, but there was a lot of food that came with the combo I ordered. The wait was longer than it should have been at the front and back end. Clean, modern feel.

Food, four stars(great sushi). Ambiance, two stars(good décor and horrible music) and Service, one star(just TERRIBLE). Our server would disappear over and over and I had to go up to the counter to ask for a fork(which was not provided) and for napkins(also, not previded). Really, who does not put napkins on the table. As far as the sushi and sashimi, as when as the dessert, it was good. It was the one redeeming qualities in a mess of a restaurant.

Stopped in for lunch. I love sushi. Nice modern looking place; very clean. I didn’t go to the bathroom but i’m sure it’s clean as well; hopefully. I had the lunch combo, you can pick two sushi rolls. It came with soup but I traded it for salad instead. They charged me a $ 1 extra which sucks but hey, whatever. The meal was very good; very flavorful. My complaint is that my salad had cucumbers in it. That’s my fault though: for one I never asked them how they made their salad and two I didn’t say anything about not putting it on there. Also the salad came with a dressing already on it. I would’ve like to been asked what dressing I would’ve liked. Next time, if I come back, i’m going to get the miso soup that comes with the lunch combo. The salad just put me off. Overall not bad. Not the greatest sushi experience i’ve ever had but I still love me some sushi.

Always had good sushi and never too pricy. Just casual, no fuss, tasty food every time. Especially love that they work with OrderUp. Awesome customer service and would recommend to anyone in the area.

Ordered for pickup on Unilocal(very convenient) got the newtown roll and spicy crazy horse roll which were both delicious. Food was ready right as I got there. The place looked like a nice place to go for dinner as well. Will be returning with dates and friends. Great sushi!

Went to see my friend at EVMS and decided to get sushi so she told me about this place. Parking was not easy because we didn’t have any coins and everything near the restaraunt was meter parking only but we found somewhere near a neighborhood but I imagine it would be harder during the school year. The service was great. I don’t know much about sushi but our server not only took the time to describe a lot of the menu to me, she also took the time to figure out what my taste was and proceeded to give me recommendations and was also honest about what she liked and didn’t like on the menu. The sushi was good but the salmon roll was a little bland — this was expected as she told me that one was pretty plain. I also had the Alaska roll and shrimp tempura which I liked much better. Shrimp tempura was my favorite!

Alright so Ive been here a few times over the years and it was good, so I was out around the Village and decided to go into Sakura, and I wish I didn’t. I was immediately served, and decided to start off with a Sapporo. It was served properly in a short glass with the bottle. Once the beer was served, I ordered a Dragon roll box and yellowtail roll. I always get the Dragon box so I expected it to be done right, and the yellowtail roll was a shot in the dark. We start out with the miso soup. Off balance(less salt, more seaweed… miso was off as well) and only 2 pieces of tofu(near microscopic). The wait between the soup and rest was quite long, over 15 minutes, especially considering the restaurant was empty and I was sitting at the bar. But we go on… Next was the yellowtail roll. This was actually good. Proper balance of all the ingredients and the fish was quite fresh. Also, the ginger was properly colored pickled ginger, rather than that pink ginger. Finally the Dragon roll box came out, and this was the worst box I’ve ever had. The Dragon roll had so much cucumber I could not taste any other ingredient, and was improperly rolled(the roll was way too loose). The Super Duper roll, probably one of my favorite rolls, was served hot(eel was microwaved, and way too long) and killed the balance. The rice served with the box was insanely dry and bland. The house salad dressing was insanely bitter(its supposed to be a ginger dressing, but it was really off.). The beer was good, the yellowtail roll was good, but the Dragon roll box ruined the whole meal(along with the miso soup). For $ 20 and change, I expect a lot better. I will definitely not return.

Horrendous. Using Order Up I had them delivered. One of containers was packaged upside down, so all the sauce was spilled everywhere. As I unpacked, I noticed an entire item was missing. As I was serving, the fish in the sunomono was smelled and tasted previously frozen and old. The chicken entrée with the saucee over everything was tough with a rancid taste. As I was serving I noticed hair in two different containers. I threw most of it away and fed the rest to the dog. Order Up was nice enough to give me a credit, and thankfully I won’t ever deal with Sakura again. I’ve had some bad experiences before, but this may win worst prize.

I’ve been to this place a lot lately, they aren’t normally busy when I stop in and parking is great! Service is always super fast, the fastest sushi I’ve had, the chef’s are great! Our waiter is always attentive to our needs and great with suggesting new things to try!

Absolutely my favorite place to get sushi. I used to hate sushi but started coming here and ordered the shrimp tempura and california roll and became obsessed. The people there are always friendly and the prices aren’t that bad. Udon noodles are good as well as the chicken teriyaki entrée.

The sashimi is not fresh. Even the tuna sashimi is out of date… my first time to eat the disgusting and bad smell sashimi in the United States. Dragon and pork kastu is not special

Great lunch specials on fresh rolls or bento boxes. I really enjoyed the Chesapeake bento box. They have nice, fresh salad dressings too.

My fiancé and I used to come here when we went to ODU. Came back for a visit and decided to eat at the old faithful sushi joint. It did not let us down!

Middle of the road. On a non-sushi related note and this didn’t play into my rating they serve canned soda and not fountain. I buy cans of soda at home, when I go out I expect the fountain. Moving on from that rant. The service was okay. They apparently don’t listen carefully because they added an appetizer when we did not order one, then came over and debated with us whether we ordered it or not. I finally just said it was fine and we’d eat it. The sushi was middle if the road. Nothing exciting. It was fine, but definitely not great. I had a crunchy roll and a Christmas tree… Which I ate one piece of and my husband ate one piece of… We both didn’t like it. He ordered 5 rolls… And ate them, however wasn’t excited about them. Still on the hunt for a sushi place that meets or expectations.

My husband and I come here often. We love it. We’ve tried other sushi restaurants, and nothing compares! The service we receive is some of the best I have ever had! The food is always fresh, decently priced, and done right! I always like to try new things, and the always accommodate me because of my allergy to shellfish. I always recommend the earthquake roll(spicy tuna, topped with avocado, white tuna, sauce)! The sweet potato roll is a must try. The deep fried the sweet potato then roll it, and top it with a savory sauce! The A.A.C. roll is a refreshing bite, filled with asparagus, avocado, and cucumber! And of course I love the deep fried tempura veggies! I have never had anything here I did not love! For my husband’s birthday they gave him a fried cheese cake! They offer a decent selection of sakes, and wines. The beer list is a your typical Japanese American stuff. And the offer the Japanese sodas and teas. All in all this place has it all from the décor to the music, the service and food! Give them a try!

Since this place is near my work, and I love sushis and sashimis, this is one of my favorite where-to-go-for-lunch standbys. They have a nice offering of lunch options: –Sushi Lunch where you can pick two or three rolls and it comes with miso soup –Lunch Special where you have about 15 selections and it comes with either soup or salad –Bento Box which is served w/soup, salad, rice and three pcs. California rolls Personally, I always lean towards the Bento Box. For about $ 8.95 to $ 9.50, you get more bang for your buck. My favorites are the Dragon Roll box which comes with half Dragon roll and one Super Duper roll(along with the soup, salad, rice and 3 pcs Cali roll) and the Sashimi box, which comes with six pcs. sashimis of your choice. Honestly, with the Dragon Roll box, I do not touch the rice nor the Cali rolls because by the time I’ve had everything else, I am about ready to nap! It’s that much food! Delicious, fresh, and well, cheap. But cheap is relative, because if you hop on over to the Sakura on Lynnhaven Parkway, $ 12.95 gets you an all-you-can-stuff-your-face lunch buffet. Now, that’s sushi heaven! The food presentation too is very appetizing. The chef is very creative in arranging the sushis and sashimis on your plate. And if you sit by the bar, like I tend to do sometime during lunch(why hog table space when most of the time you’re flying solo?), I get freebies! You go there often enough, they recognize you and let you sample their new creation/s. And you can always easily ask for more ginger. More please! The place is clean and the waitstaff’s friendly. Parking can be a challenge given that it’s within ODU’s grounds. It’s metered parking so make sure to bring enough coins so you don’t get a ticket.
