Rude and expensive is all I can think of. There was no line & all the man could manage to say while cutting me off of EVERY question & sentence is «Ya ya ya ya!!» No hello. No smile. No eye contact. Treated me as an inconvenience versus a customer. While the sushi was surprisingly decent, it was not worth the money or the horrible service received during this visit. $ 18+ for one roll, 1 piece of eel, &1 bottled water. no soup. No salad. No samples. I know better next time to walk across the street to one of several sushi establishments and at least have a sit down meal, comparable pricing, added benefits(soup & salad), a glass of free water, & hopefully better service!

The sushi is decent for mall sushi. Their Spicy Girl roll is pretty darn good! I would definitely recommend it. However, I did not like the spicy tuna roll at all. It was disgusting. It had a nasty fishy after taste. Overall, it’s decent for mall sushi.

I live close by and walk over to the mall to eat at this sushi place once or twice a week, every week. There are plenty of sushi restaurants around, but these guys have a decent menu and good food every time at a reasonable price. As a total sushi snob, I never thought I would say I eat mall sushi, but I do!

If you live and work in the Norfolk area, then you’re well aware that Norfolk does not suffer from«Too few sushi» options. You can’t walk a 3 blocks in the down town area and not stumble across another place. So it might come to you as a surprise that Sakura Elite at the mall isn’t a bad option. Now, I know, in the pantheon of Sushi options, it goes, Dedicated sushi restaurant, sushi bar attached to hibachi restaurant, mall sushi, grocery sushi, Sam’s Club sushi, gas station sushi… but hear me out. First, this joint has a limited menu, which means they keep a small stock of fresh fish that rotates out fairly quickly. What they do, do, they do well. For example, my personal favorite, the number seven Rainbow Roll and California roll combo, tastes great and is a fairly significant portion size. You can get that and a diet coke for about $ 15(so this is not bargain sushi, which I tend to avoid). I’ve given them the A-Ok rating, they’re good if you’re in the mall and you’re looking for some fresh fish. They get docked because, well, let’s face it, location, location, location(it’s noisy, seating is communal, plating is paper/plastic, etc…) and another because since they are small, you’re not going to get a very diverse menu option from them.
