Einstein Bros. Bagels

I would give this Einstein Bros. Bagels (which is located in the Old Dominion Library) a one star. However, I do frequent this place and every once in a while, I do experience good customer service. In other words, the reason I do come here boils down to convenience especially on rainy or cold winter days where I want something warm but do not want to leave the building (the closest microwave is in the webb center. correct me if I am wrong). I do think that it is brilliant that there is a place where one can purchase food in the library. However, I think you’d be better off grabbing a bagel or a bite at the Batten Arts and Letters coffee stand or just bringing your own food. (Its a lot cheaper that way)
That being said, I’ve never received a horrible bagel from here (maybe sloppy i.e. cream cheese everywhere) but there is nothing special about the bagels they make. There are a good selection of bagels and type of spread you can choose (plain, cream cheese, smoked salmon shmear, nutella, butter, etc) from but I truly feel that you are better off bringing your own bagel because with a drink, it can be overpriced for two very subpar items (I’ve yet to order a drink that isn’t more than alright)
Also beware– your bagel /​drink can take a long time and during the colder/​wet days, this place has a long line so I can understand why the quality of the food /​drinks suffer here. All in all, I am thankful for this place and its accessibility to hungry college students who need quick bite or a cup of joe but if you could help it, try not purchasing here. Not worth your money. SAVE YOUR $$ MY PEOPLE.

This place is located right inside the Perry Library, and it’s pretty much set up like a Starbucks, so you should have what you want to order ready. The people working there seemed so bored with their job. The girl at the register stared at me blankly as I ordered, asked for my name, but no one even called me up when it was done. They just left my food and drink on the counter while they called everyone else’s name. Rude.
I ordered an Asiago bagel with cream cheese. I regret paying $ 2.70 for it. It came out burnt around the edges, and the «cheese» on top was dry and burnt tasting as well. The actual bagel was very chewy, and overall not worth the money! I ordered a hot tea as well, and when asked for cream, they told me they only had soy. How do you sell coffee or any breakfast items and not carry and milk or creamer? I’m not sure if they were just out, or if that’s how it always is, but I had a pretty disappointing breakfast this morning. ODU, spend your money elsewhere!!!

Long waits, terribly overpriced, and frequently messes up orders.
ODU should handle this place and give its students something worth paying for.

I ordered two bagels and two smoothies for a guest and myself. The smoothies came out quickly, the barista was very nice and talkative. About 15 minutes pass and I receive one of the bagels. Another 15 minutes pass and Bagel #2 is no where in sight! I wait in line again to talk to the cashier to just double check my order is on the way. It was a different woman, she said she just came on the floor and was unsure of my order so she put it in again. A few minutes pass and she signals me to come back up and asks what I wanted again. I then waited ANOTHER 15 minutes for my bagel sandwich.
I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you are short on time or having little patience. However, the smoothie was great though.

Buyer beware. Long waits and stingy schmears are what await you here.
I head to the library after or between classes for a few quick minutes of study, and, most of the time, I steer clear of the Einstein’s because of the overpowering smell of burnt bagel which pervades every portion of the first two floors thanks to this place. On the rare occasions the smell has been absent, I’ve given Einstein’s the benefit of the doubt, and have yet to be satisfied with a purchase.
The sandwiches come at a premium, and are sometimes worth the price if there happens to be no line. Don’t waste your time on a bagel + cream cheese. You’ll receive the barest scraping of a schmear with little or no flavor. The bagels have a satisfactorily chewy outside, but the inner bagel is quite grainy-​feeling and lacking in all the things which make bagels amazing.
The few times I’ve ordered a hot coffee, there has been no creamer at the station — not sure if it’s never there or if you have to catch them doing their jobs.
Skip it. Skip it all.

This place is … Ok so the wait is ridiculously long! That’s because the workers are chatting and playing instead of moving this line along!
When I first came here a month ago, I ordered the ice coffee which they gave me a cup of ice and I guess I had to go to the coffee station and pour my own coffee, sugar and milk to make my own ice coffee?! They didn’t tell me what to do with the ice… Not what I expected. Yuck!
Today I I opted for the frozen carmel coffee. Here we go with the line again… This time the workers was fussing! Huh? OMG… They are still fussing. Ok so 30 mins later I finally got my frozen coffee while the workers were fussing the whole time and the coffee was just ok. If you are true coffee snob this is not the best. It taste like I had a Carmel Shake, For some that’s good just not for me.
Needless to say I was 30 mins late for a meeting here on campus, the arguing among coworkers was not appropriate, the lines and ok coffee won’t bring me back. Oh by the way… I think they are still fussing!

Took 15 mins for a bagel w cream cheese ! Seriously?!?
Girl was eating food while making smoothies. The soda is litterally 45¢ more than vending machine right next to the shop. The person making the bagels and sandwiches was moving at tortoise’s pace!
NOTHING SPECTACULAR about this experience!

Surprised there aren’t any reviews on here. They are quick and inexpensive. Turkey chili and buffalo chicken wraps are a must try!
I do enjoy their wide selection of coffees, and hot teas.
