Been meaning to try Yorgo’s out forever and I’m glad we finally did! We were in Norfolk one Saturday morning & figured it was the perfect time to try their bagels out. The place isn’t too big; I noticed it was full though.(Luckily, we snagged a seat.) There was also a long but very fast-moving line to order & pay. My bf had the«everything» bagel with lox flavored cream cheese, and I had a plain bagel, plain cream cheese, and actual LOX on it. Perfectly toasted bagel — soft on the inside, great cream cheese, perfect Lox –just so delicious. I didn’t want the bites to end! lol The line was steady the whole time we were there — I could tell lots of locals, regulars, students(lots of them wearing my Alma Mater’s sweatshirts), and so many people placing orders to-go. There were even little samples of their brownies up front; yum! I would definitely recommend, and also return when I’m in the Ghent area. Can’t wait to try their other goodies. As the cute chalkboard sign says, «You’re my everything, bagel!» ;)

After a couple of great visits I would love to share my experiences. The location is about as central Ghent as you can get which is a positive. Parking however is a negative when busy on the weekends. There is parking in the front, rear and side. Other than that I’m unsure where else you can park legally. My first visit was a breakfast visit around 9AM and they were busy, but not mobbed. However, that changed by the time I left at 10AM. A few tables were not cleared and cleaned and the place was around 75% capacity. There are two booths by the window, the rest is table and chairs. Not a big place, but they do a lot of take out. On both occasions counter service was friendly and helpful when selecting items. My second visit was a weekday mid-morning breakfast. No issues with parking or seating at all. All tables cleared and the floors were tidy. This is a self bus place. The menu is pretty huge and you can customize your item right down to the types of cheeses and wraps. First visit was a breakfast beef burrito with American cheese. It was really yum. I also ordered a coffee which was passable, nothing special. The coffee is served in two sizes and only to go cups which is a pet peeve. My second visit I ordered an egg white omelette with provolone cheese and spinach wrap. It was also very strong, I would order that again the next time I come in probably. My friend ordered the breakfast burrito and loved it. Restrooms are in the back. Two of them and they are unisex. I found them to be spacious and clean, but don’t expect fancy. They are about as dull as you get, but everything functioned with proper supplies. I’m a fan and will get back to see them. However, with the coffee being weak in my opinion I don’t see myself being a regular.

When I was younger, my Mom told me «eating a bagel is like wearing an inter-tube around your waist». If you’re someone who cares about your diet, like me, then you probably seldom eat bread… And when you do eat bread then you have to ensure that its worth it. These bagels are worth it. I got the a bacon, egg and cheese on the jalapeño bagel. This bagel was just the right amount of warm and toasty. Nothing worse than getting a chewy bagel that is like rubber or one that is toasted so hard it scrapes the roof of your mouth. Fortunately, you won’t have to worry about that here! While the service was«meh» and the interior is nothing to Unilocal about… Possibilities are high that I would make a trip back for that bagel. One enthusiastic thumb up with a head nod to boot… Not bad. Not bad at all.

Great service and great vegetarian options at reasonable prices. My omnivorous husband and I got two Gardein mock-chicken bagel sandwiches to share. We enjoyed both. Our only regret is not getting the jalapeño bagel!

This has been my favorite bagel shop for about 8 years now and it never fails to make me happy. Jalapeño cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel is the best thing in the world. I wish I could have them ship bagels and cream cheese to me since I moved to the Midwest recently. Every time I come home though I go here at least 4 times in the week that I stay. Yorgo’s will always have my heart for bagels.

I visited Yorgo’s 3 days ago before class and it was amazing. I couldn’t stop eating in traffic. I had a sausage and egg with blueberry jam on a everything bagel. Delicious! I will definitely visit Yorgo’s again.

I love Yorgo’s. Here, you can build your own bagel, and they don’t skimp on anything! I’d been craving a bagel with lox and Teeter was out of salmon, so we stopped in here to get my fix. I ordered the everything bagel with lox, jalapeño cream cheese, and capers. My bagel«sandwich» was massive, cream cheese oozing out the sides– JUST the way I like it! They have a large variety of cream cheese, and you can even purchase their cream cheese to go and take it home. Their coffee is also excellent, and right now because it’s fall, you can be «basic» and grab pumpkin flavored cream cheese and some apple cider!

Cool little spot in Ghent. I’ve read about them so much I decided to finally give them a try Saturday late morning. Simply place your order, grab a seat, and wait for your number to be called. It was a toss the breakfast burrito and the inside out omelette. The hot dog chili won me over but I went ahead and added the roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and spinach mix from the omelette as a side. Both were decent in my opinion. Of course, I had to pick up a chocolate chip cookie. Another decent choice as well. I would consider going back.

Had the jalapeño bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese, and it was delicious! The bagel was excellent. My boyfriend’s sandwich(sausage, egg, and cheese on their challah roll) was spot on. Our only complaint was the coffee. It was terrible! It tasted burned and was undrinkable. Other positives: The service was great, they have a TON of vegan options, and the desserts looked to die for. Above all else, go for the bagels!

This was my first time trying this place out, absolutely love it! Staff was super friendly and helpful on what to choose for first timers. This is honestly one of the best bagel shops I’ve ever been to aside from ones in NYC, I only wish they had a Virginia beach location! I had the so cal on a jalapeño roll and a giant peanut butter cookie which is mad good. They also have a ton of Vegan options, although I did not get a vegan item but I will next time.

I just stopped here for the first time today, so I don’t have much to go by yet, but the chai tea latte was good and the pumpkin swirl pastry was delicious. I plan on jumping on these bagels the next time I stop by. I might’ve rated this place an average 3 stars, but The icing on the cake of this bageldashery though is the service and friendly customers. The wonderful lady behind me paid for my order just because she said, «It’s your first time and you have to try out this place!» Also, one of the baristas explained to me the background of the bageldashery and answered my questions even though she was busy doing other stocking items.

Bagels are fresh! Scallion cream cheese was spectacular. Lines are long on Saturday but they have good Bagels. I wouldn’t pay more than $ 6 for a bagel egg sandwich but they are pricey here. We won’t be back but it’s a good clean place and family friendly if people don’t want to make breakfast at home.

Awwwww, yeah. This is how you do bagels. Not the chain shops. Not the frozen from the supermarket. Not the ones at the convenience store. This. Is. Bagels. High quality. Tasty. Yum. I had the nova and cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel. It was awesome. Good portion of salmon, nice schmear of cream cheese(would have been nice if they put it on both sides, but I solved that myself). Lots of poppy seeds and sesame seeds and more on the bagel. Yum. I might have said yum already. Yum.

Great place to grab a quick, delicious, vegan and/or vegetarian breakfast. They have plenty for the meat lovers, too. Their prices are a bit high but the food is great quality. I don’t mind paying an extra few bucks because their food is absolutely delicious. Always fresh and made to order. I usually drop by here about once a week and there is always a crowd but the line moves quickly. They are very organized and professional. The environment is casual and you’ll find free newspapers, brochures, and even local even information. They have plenty of fantastic food and drink options to choose from. :)

Came in 8 am Saturday morning and it was fairly busy, the plan was to dine-in but this place is so small there was barely any where to sit comfortably so we ordered to go. I ordered the breakfast burrito which consists of scrambled eggs, provolone cheese and chilli wrapped in a flour tortilla and it was surprisingly good. I also tried the challah bread pudding which was cold when I bought it –_–(why on earth would anyone serve BP cold is beyond me) tried a piece in the car while on the way home and it was just ok. BUT I warmed it in the microwave later that day and it tasted much better =)

My daughter and I visited Yorgo’s for the first time on a rainy, winter Sunday. We drove from home on the Peninsula to Norfolk because we break our fasts with the determination of fictional Spartan warriors. We weren’t disappointed by Yorgo’s offerings. The place was slammed, but we moved through the line quickly. I ordered The Deli Egg on a jalapeño bagel. The bagel tasted fresh and wasn’t over-toasted. The omelette and meats inside tasted great. The cheeses were hot and gooey and brought the whole sandwich together. My daughter went for a more simple choice: an egg and bacon sandwich on a plain bagel. She scarfed it down, but I managed to bargain for a bite. Her plain bagel was fresh and the bacon delicious, as it should be. The service was exceptionally friendly, but not on a fake squirmy kind of way. It’ll be tough to squeeze Yorgo’s in to our breakfast spots because we already have so many favorites, but we’ll definitely return.

Items Selected: Toasted Sesame Bagel with Cream Cheese Toasted Blueberry Bagel with Blueberry Cream Cheese Peanut Butter Cookie Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Chocolate Chip Cookie Challah Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce Carrot Cake Cookie Sandwich Located in Norfolk’s historic Ghent district and owned by Greg Peterman since 2006, Yorgo’s Bageldashery is considered by many to be the best Bagel Shop in all of Virginia and although it was indeed the only bagel shop visited during a prolonged stay in the state of my birth I can attest that the bagels were indeed quite excellent, as was nearly everything else sampled as part of Valentine’s Day breakfast following a redeye out of Las Vegas. Small in size and friendly in service, the sort of place where even first timers are likely to be welcomed like old friends, ordering at Yorgo’s follows a grab-and-go or counter-side order format and with several items available at each the most onerous part of the process is deciding which items sound best, a «bakers’ half-dozen» providing plenty of carbs for our party of two… and likely several more. Beginning first with the restaurant’s signature item, suffice it to say that each hand crafted and housemade ring proves a substantial upgrade on the doughy pseudo-desserts at Panera or the flavorless prefabrications at Einstein or Great American and with several house-blended schmears only serving to upgrade the crunchy exterior overlying a soft, stretchy core the best bet is to simply follow one’s gut — the sesame seed iteration eggy and pronouncedly nutty while the blueberry bagel was only lightly sweetened by fresh berries, the berry-imbued cream cheese slightly less subtle with the combination conveying a lovely balance of savory and sweet. Moving from breakfast to things trending far closer to dessert it was perhaps an effect of the early hour and questionable ‘day-old’ status that saw a carrot cake sandwich cookie trend far too soggy to be properly enjoyed but moving onward to three other cookies, all confirmed as fresh baked, one would be hard pressed to decide which of the trio was best but at only $ 1.80 each one would be best advised to explore the options for themselves, though certainly not at the expense of the house-made Challah Bread Pudding — a rich, eggy block, heated to order, and doused with boozy caramel sauce that proved to be not only the highlight of the meal but also one of the best deli-style bread puddings experienced to date.

The menu at Yorgos is AWESOME. APPLE cider is amazing. Service and atmosphere are nice. They offer vegan, vegetarian, Kosher, as well as any meat eater variety. Food was fantastic! Bagels were fresh and warm, egg and cheese were delicious. We will definitely come back and try it again.

Stop the press. Somebody save me. My addiction to Yorgo’s Bageldashery is becoming insane. As a young, Jewish lady-unicorn hybrid, I was taught from infancy to appreciate a solid Nova lox and cream cheese. I mean, seriously, I’ve been pounding bagels into the pavement since the sandbox days. I like to think that because of my fine Jewish roots, I just«get» bagels. Because, essentially, to a Jew: a bagel a day keeps the high cholesterol at bay. SOOOOOOOOOO … After months of hearing fellow Unilocalies and muggles rave on about this place, I decided to finally give in. There’s a place called Bagels N’ More in VB and Greenbriar has no been blessed with an Einstein Bros. So, thusfar, my bagel addiction has been sufficed by these. After trying Yorgo’s, I realized that I was simply«settling» in Bagel-world. This place is every essence of the phrase: THESHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! The first time I came here, I took my little humunculus, Merlin. Against my better judgement as a parent, I decided to reward him for his five minutes of good behavior by getting him the most sugary thing on the menu: a chocolate chip bagel with chocolate chip cream cheese(I know, I’m a terrible parent). I, however, blessed myself with their Nova lox on an everything with scallion cream cheese. OH.MY.GOD, it was incredible. In-freaking-credible, un-effing-believably good. After my first bite, I had to call my Bubbe to tell her about my find. The bagels here are big, perfect, and fit for shiksas and muggles galore. The lox is incredibly fresh, like what you’d buy for your fambam at a Whole Foods for $ 30 a slab. Good quality smoked Nemo over at Yorgo’s. The scallion cream cheese is PACKED with flavor and, to top it off, they’re homemade Middle Eastern Chick Pea soup simply melts away all of your troubles. Yorgo’s is definitely not what I’d classify as a «date night joint». No, this is a place where YOUEAT. You sit down, eat your food, and go. The only acceptable extracurriculars here are reading a newspaper or a book. There is a ever-so consistent line here at Yorgo’s, so fulfill your eating business and dash. This place is good. Real good. I’ll never go back to factory-made Einstein Bros. cream cheese. Thank you, Yorgo’s, I can now die a happy/over-fed Jew!
