Rib night on Wednesday night, a must try and a great price. They have a great breakfast too. I have not had anything I didn’t love… Not busy during the week, which is great for me, but a treasure for sure…

We had driven by this place so many times saying we should try it. Finally we did and kicked ourselves for not going sooner. Their food is by far the best homemade food in town. DON’T MISSYOURCHANCETOEATHERE!!! YOUCOULDN’T POSSIBLYBEDISAPPOINTEDHERE.

I’ve been here twice both for breakfast. My first experience was great. The food was good and the service great. The second time I came everyone’s food took longer than it should of and came out cold. I ordered a special. It was delicious but came out about 30 minutes after everyone’s breakfast already took too long

Had lunch there today with 20 of my best friends! They were well prepared for us and the food was really good. I had the stroganoff. The Wait staff were exceptional!

Rachel was our server and she was absolutely terrible she was rude and would give nasty looks if she didn’t like something you said! Usually when we go to this place it’s OK the food is always good but we had to wait for almost 30 minutes for 2 omelettes and a order of pancakes. Not a place I would recommend while Rachel is working or during breakfast hours.

Went for the first time in august and was very happy. I used their banquet room they have for a meeting. The food was very good. the place was very clean and staff was very nice. The waitress was a little slow but that could have been because of the large group I was with. I am looking forward to coming back soon and sharing the experience with my family.

This place hands down deserves all 5 stars. A friend and I wanted breakfast after a night of drunken shenanigans and I happened upon this diner on Unilocal. So we came in around noon. We were greeted with friendly faces and kind smiles. It’s a seat yourself establishment. Place is real clean and has that nice and warm homey feeling. Great friendly service, wait staff is very attentive. The food, oh boy, it was beyond delicious!!! For less than $ 6 I was absolutely stuffed. I ordered the egg breakfast, which came with a choice of meat, two eggs, and two sides. The grits were absolutely amazing! This is the first place I’ve eaten at where I didn’t need to put any butter in my grits at all. I got five thick slices of bacon. The home fries were delicious and eggs cooked just the way I like. Definitely going to frequent this spot, especially with the sweet bar on the side of the restaurant.(:

Services: Outstanding. Very friendly wait staff. However, it’s a little slow. Food: Food was mediocre. I got the Chicken Salad wrap. The fries were good, but the wrap itself was so-so. Nothing to write home about. Value: Not overpriced for what you get, but personally I would pay a bit more for better food. Overall: There are plenty of outstanding restaurants in the Hampton Roads that I would prefer over Mom & Pops, but if you’re in the area and you need a quick bite, I would stop in there before going to McDonalds(ugh).

My burger, Pops Burger, was delicious. It was a little messy, but I loved it. The service was terrific. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Been here many times and it just keeps getting worse. Watched a table that came in after us get served. 3 tables not served for over 30 minutes. I heard excuses on why, but nothing being done about it. Watched the cook come out at least 2 times to stand around. The place wasn’t that busy. Instead of having 3 waitresses fighting over tables, maybe one should be in the back helping out.

Have to put it in the middle. . Staff is Super ! Very clean and portions are large. . However. …the kitchen is rediculous… snails pace! as of now it has been more then 30 mind since I ordered.. and nothing… I could understand if they were busy — at the moment 3 tables are seated. … I have been coming here for some time… over the past two months the kitchen staff is slowly ruining what was a good place. the refuse to make the food as ordered. The toast well is not toast. .more like bread right from the loaf. Ordered well done home fries. …I got raw potatoes Again and again… the request are simple. . While writing this review 3 people have sent food back because it’s not like they ordered. At some point I am sure they will realize the paying customers should get the food they are ordering and paying for… not the food the kitchen feels like cooking

This place is great for locals but food isn’t anything to write home about. It’s simple breakfast food and diner food for dinner. I feel weird spending money there when I know I can make it myself at home. And I’m not exactly chef material. I had the gyro omelet and had to add feta for a small fee. I feel like feta should come on it already but ok? The home fries were good but overall the breakfast was lacking flavor. I love to support family businesses so I wouldn’t say never try this place, but don’t set your expectations too high once you do try it.

I had the chicken souvlaki veta, and it was a great introduction to greek food. They have an extensive menu and the waitresses are very friendly. The food didn’t take a long time to come out, and it was hot and fresh coming to the table. Also, the dècor of this place really makes it feel like a small-town diner, it was great. Will definitely be coming here again.

Went there early for dinner tonight and ordered the special, a chicken sandwich. When it came out the waitress asked me if I needed anything else and I said«yeah, the chicken?» because the piece of chicken on my sandwich was about the size of a jimmy dean sausage patty. It was pathetically small. She left and I assumed was going to talk to the cook. 10 minutes later she came back and asked me if everything was ok. I hadn’t touched the sandwich. They had no intention of fixing the issue. I asked for the full check, I wasn’t going to stiff her and let them take it out of her paycheck, left a tip and left. I’m never going back to Mom and Pops. The waitress was fine, but the fact that the chef thought sending out that pathetic excuse of meat was ok is enough to have me never return.

About once every two weeks, my friend Isaac and I like to try out different restaurants around where either he lives in Virginia Beach or where I live in Norfolk. This most recent time we got together we tried out Mom and Pop’s. Initially it dosen’t look like a place you see and think«I have to try that place»; however, in retrospect I’m glad we decided to eat here. This place has several options; however, our waitress was very patient and helpful in answering all of our questions. On the menu there were several different sandwiches, pastas, and even Greek food(and not too many restaurants in Hampton Roads offer Greek). There were so many options my friend and I decided on getting a appetizer so we could decide on something, which was the bacon cheese fries. They were pretty good, just needed a little salt and Texas Pete, both of which were on hand at the restaurant so that was a plus. I finally decided on the«Mom and Pops Burger» which was a hand-patted burger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and a thick slice of ham and cheese on top. It came with fries and I also got a cup of ranch on the side. The burger was so good and juicy, you could tell that it did not come from a frozen party, that was grade A ground beef. I was sold after one bite. As a side note: I used my signature of Texas Pete and Ranch as dipping sauce for my side of fries, very delicious. Very rarily do I get dessert at a restaurant, but after finishing our appetizers and our meals, both me and my friend wanted more. The options of dessert were just as extenstive as the rest of the menu. I got the Baklava, which was so sweet and flaky, and my friend got the Italian crème cake. I stole a bite of it, and it was really good, soft, and fluffy. I almost switched our dessert plates. Lol All in all I would return again, and next time I would like to try the shrimp parmesan, cause it sounded pretty tasty. Come to Mom and Pops for a friendly environment and a good«home-cooked» meal.

Nestled in Norfolk sits Mom & Pop’s a family owned restaurant, I believe. From the outside it may look a little obscure but fear not one you step inside. The interior was wide open and welcoming with an immediate bar to the left and open doning area to the right with a prosterior banquet room. Our server that we had that day was very helpful and nice. I was taken aback by the pink interior, but the glass designs that were the headboard of each both were a cool touch. I had a sea otter whereas my buddy has Sebastian the crab. We split ordered cheese fries with bacon and they were skinny dark fries with warm cheese and yummy bacon. I then ordered the open faced hot turkey per suggestion of our server it came with veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy and a side soup or salad and I opted for the chicken and rice which was good. They had Texas Pete hot sauce which was a win. The sandwich came out and the gravy seemed to skin over, so at first I was worried, but it tasted great on the warm buttered toast. The mashed potatoes were fair, but what sold me was the veggies. I ended the meal with an Italian cream slice of cake. It has a hint of lemon, but I was told is not overpowering. What was overpowering was the yummy taste. In the end it was a fair shot to give this place a try. I’d honestly say 3.5, but I don’t think they do half stars. Worth a return to try a different dish!

What a great experience. Mom and Pops is a wonderfully unpretentious diner. The dining room is clean, warm, and welcoming. I like the décor and the wonderful feeling you get when you are here. I came in after church on weekly search for the best diner in the Norfolk area. This place is easily in the top five. They aren’t fancy and the menu is a selection of the best breakfast and lunch standards. I had the pancake special with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and a side of sausage. The pancakes were light and fluffy. My friend had the Greek bowl with scrambled eggs, gyro meat, home fries, and onions. The flavor combination was spot on. There were well developed layers of flavored and everything worked together. This is a place to visit again. Can’t wait to try them for lunch or dinner.

I’ve never seen a diner as pretty as this. Everything is perfectly in order and placed in the right direction. In many years, I have never encountered a place that gives you a warm welcoming vibe and automatically brightens your aura. What a strange feeling but I absolutely love it. This is one of those places that makes you feel at home without implying anything. I came here with a friend and we had a brunch. We usually dine out right after church and I recommended this place. For my visit, I ordered the breakfast special called«GREEKBOWL» a mixed of home fries, gyro meat, scramble eggs topped with feta cheese and a side of wheat toast. At first, I was hesitant to touch it because it didn’t look appetizing at all. Anyhow, I started mixing them all together and I was blown away with the flavor profile. Its seasoned well and tasted divine. The feta cheese create a different texture and added more depth. Thought, overall the entire meal was perfectly balanced. Indeed, mom’s and pop’s definitely represents the home cooked meal. What makes this place stand out, is the terrific customer service. No wonder that the server knows most of the guest. Hands down, a well deserved applause to all the staff. I am without a doubt or second thought that I’m going to come back!!!

I had a gyro the first time I went, thinking this was like one of the many restaruants back in IL with a wide selection of foods, that would hit the spot. The food was FILLED! FILLED! with grease. The meat was the heat up and serve from a box kind, that I could have bought a gyro kit and made myself for 5.99. The service was slow, and a table of men watched me eat for 30 minutes, I was there for an hour and ten minutes. the other 40 minutes I waited for my food.

This was an excellent find! I do mean treasure at that. A best kept secret if you will. I stopped in here after cleaning the car last Friday. I knew they opened early enough in the day to serve breakfast and was curious to see if they served it all day. I had a hankering for a skillet. Unfortunately they stopped serving breakfast at 2pm and I had arrived at 2:30… Note taken. Even on my laziest of weekend days, I have until 2pm to drag myself in here. So instead of breakfast I opted for a burger and OMG what a burger it was. The thing was huge and home made through and through, no frozen pucks here. The bacon was extra crispy and it was topped with cheddar cheese lettuce and tomato. Wow it was good and only ran $ 6 bucks. What a steal. Larger than any burger downtown, and it costs less. Go figure. I was so full I didn’t eat the rest of the day. In fact, I went home and took a nap… Food coma, yes indeed. Service was also excellent, our waitress, I believe her name was Tiffany, took excellent care of us and was very friendly. Drinks stayed full, plates promptly removed, knew the menu, etc. Excellent service throughout the visit. I can’t wait to come back and try out breakfast.
