Ok food. Comparable to a fried chicken chain. Not the best. Popeyes is better tasting in my opinion. Mac n cheese was bland, potato salad was generic tasting.

This place is the reason I will get fat some day. If you’ve never tried Pollard’s, shame on you. You haven’t had fried chicken. Seriously though, their chicken is something amazing. They do something when they fry it that makes the breading really fluffy and light, and still crispy. Then you get the sweet biscuits… Delicious. My only qualms: The food takes forever to get. I know they make it when you order it, but it’s still an annoyance when you go in and you’re hungry. Also, just steer clear of the desert case. It all tastes like it’s been sitting there for days. All in all, if you don’t mind waiting or have the foresight to call ahead, this is easily the best fried chicken you can get in the area.

I had fried chicken with ‘collard greens’ & macaroni. I visited because I was told by a friend that this was a souls food spot and that it probably the reason I expected much more. Macaroni and cheese was gross. It was baked like I expected. It was normal yucky fast food macaroni. My collards were like spinach which I don’t eat so I didn’t eat these either. The chicken was okay and I ate two of the wings and ended up throwing away the third wing with the rest of the food. Even my sweet test tasted funny. I know this may sound weird but it tasted dirty like maybe they don’t ever clean their tea urns. Needless to say it was a waste of money for me and I won’t be going back. Oh and the inside has this funny old people smell which should’ve made me turn around off rip but my curiosity got the best of me. The only perk is that they have military discount. Yay :/lol

Looking for a quick and affordable lunch? This is a place you should consider for that purpose. I was warmly greeted upon arrival and they were very patient while I scoured the menu since this was my first visit. I chose the 2 piece snack meal with okra. The chicken was tender and hot & fresh right out of the fryer so much so that I had to wait a few minutes before eating. The okra was delicious and made want more it was that good. Wish I would have been hungry enough to get the chicken livers as I really wanted to try them Only complaint I had was the puff which was a little too sweet and they don’t serve REAL honey but an imitation of honey The décor is nothing to oodle about just standard low cost budget stuff but who cares you are here for the value chicken the offer!!!

Ever since living in Atlanta five years ago, I’ve had a hankering for Southern food. I saw this place after moving to Norfolk and knew that I had to try it. Let’s just say I was not disappointed! My husband and I ordered one of their value meals for $ 5.50; it came with two pieces of dark meat chicken(extra for white), vegetable, puff, and drink. We both got fried okra, which was the only slightly irritating thing for me since there is an extra charge for ordering the okra(really?). The fried chicken was so good, and the puff was delicious as well. Make sure to add the honey to it for that extra special melt in your mouth flavor. The food came out quickly, but not too quickly that it makes you nervous that it might have been sitting out forever. The place was clean and the service was great. Can’t wait to come back to try their dessert next time!

This place is the real deal! First time customer and from the time I opened the door I was impressed. The aroma of fried chicken is immediate and gets your stomach rumbling. My order of 4 piece dark with fried okra and a baked sweet potato was awesome. My food was brought out to me which is always good practice. Their fried chicken was hot and juicy on every bite. Their fried okra and sweet potato were great. I also had their sweet potato pie and it was outstanding. The only complaint I have is that I was charged extra for okra and would have liked a larger serving.

Some of the very best chicken in town! The green beans remind me of my grandma’s homemade ones. We usually call our order in ahead of time and once we leave the house the meal is packaged up waiting on us at the counter. I just can’t stand the drive back home smelling that wonderful chicken, and it’s piping hot too! The customer service at this location is AWESOME! Keep up the great work!

Used to be a really good place to order from and go to eat at, good catering, but that’s when they were located off bayview blvd. Now that they have moved onto the new building on tidewater drive(old Burger King building). The food is bad, service is slow and the place is always dirty.

This is a place that makes me wish we could divide our ratings. One for service and one for food. The service was a five star easily. They are friendly, funny, and makes you feel welcome like family. The food was 3.5 stars. The fried chicken is very good. I had the chicken BBQ, it was average but not bad. I enjoyed the sides. The green beans and spiced apples were terrific and the hush puppies were among the best I’ve had in the area. I also had one of the puffs that Pollards is famous for, I’m not sure what everyone loves about them. They are soft and warm but they are just a warm bread ball. I wasn’t that impressed. Overall I enjoyed my lunch and I’d come back again. They have the perfect combination of fast food and family service. I just wish I had tried the homemade desserts. I just didn’t have room.

PUFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFS!!! I seem to be yelling in a lot of my food reviews. Food excites me! I recently had the absolute pleasure of having some fried chicken from Pollards at an event my command had and it was gristle sucking good. I mean for real. I can’t describe the batter that is on the chicken — it’s light, crispy without being crunchy, seasoned to perfection and buttery — but not Golden Skillet buttery. It was so good. I had the thighs, wings and a breast and each piece was hot and flavorful and juicyyyyyyyyyyy. We also had Potato Salad, Cole Slaw and Oven Baked Beans and PUFFFFFFFSSSSSS! Everything was delicious. I’ll definitely be back on my own.

I haven’t personally been to Pollard’s in ages. In December(2013), I arranged a catered event with Pollard’s — Norfolk. Everything went swimmingly! The food was great and just was advertised. I went for the Party Buffet #2. Platter consists of: Fried Chicken, Chopped Pork, Barbecue, Country Potato Salad, Creamy Cole Slaw, Oven Baked Beans, Hushpuppies, Dinner Rolls, and Butter; they also provided us with the paper products and utensils — serving and dining. All the hot items were actually HOT and served in aluminum trays. We did that all of $ 8.59 per person — a bargain. If you have a party and need a buffet, let Pollard’s help you. «Yay! I’m a fan.» .

Really good fried chicken. I probably will only go here once a month because it’s a bit to rich for my heart(Paula Dean rich if you know what I mean). But awesome none the less.

It’s a shame that a place with such good food has such a rude employee as Patricia. Trying to get my order the way the owner had done for me as we’ll as another employee was like paying for abusive treatment. I cancelled my order and left. All she was interested in was being right and me being wrong(which I wasn’t). No effort to help achieve what I wanted. No sense of giving customer satisfaction or having repeat business. I for one will never go to that Pollards again. Hopefully the owner will try to educate her so more business is not lost! Liz

When I think of fried chicken there’s only one place that comes to mind, Pollards. This is one of the older locations and it’s been here in Norfolk since I was a child. The building they’re in now was a BK years ago, the original location was about a half mile up the road. We walked in and ordered a 16 piece deal w/a Groupon. That also included 4 sides and a bunch of puff’s. The thing that I’ve always really appreciated about Pollards is they make the meal when you order it. The wait was about 20 minutes, but so worth it when we arrived home and opened everything up. Gut busting delicious! Check them out, you’ll be glad you did.
