Let me start by saying that, whoever is in charge of ordering equipment for these Navy gyms are stupid and they do not know what Sailors need. I am a Command Fitness Leader and I only use four machines at the gym. The problem is that the four machines that I use is extremely limited(one Jacob Ladder that is broken, six row machines, two stair climbers, and two ski climbers), machines that people hate that help the most like burpees. Instead, they buy 30 speed bike(they already had 30 that rarely ever got used), and a whole bunch of bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals that are being used mostly twice a year heavily for physical fitness assessment and for any other time rarely used. They waste so much money on renovating the basketball ball courts every year and you would laugh at the amount of money spent to complete that task. You probably would ask if I was joking. I don’t understand because basketball is in the top two reasons for injuries in the gym. These gym can be used for so much more. The bad thing about this whole waste is that they spent money putting a box outside the gym which can not be used unless a gym representative is with you. This box is incredible; it has everything that you will need in a full gym but they put it outside. If I ran the gym, that outside box would be on one of the courts inside the gym. These gyms can become so much more and at a time where less and less people seems to be working out why not give us Sailors a gym that we want and not what some rep with a degree thinks we want. Look at LittleCreek pier side gym, one of the best gyms in the region on of off base, low cost and minimal maintenance. Great gym that is closed on the weekend… Smh. We have to do better if we are going to make gym a lifestyle that people want.

Évaluation du lieu : 4 Norfolk, VA
Went here for the first time today since we just moved to Norfolk. The gym building itself is very old, but honestly has a lot of character, and a lot of space from what I could see. The equipment seemed good enough, even though the floors and walls are extremely worn. I went to the pre-natal fitness class which was held on the basketball court. Was awesome!!! Loved my instructor, and got in the best workout I’ve had in months. I’m excited to go back. Parking is actually across the road, which I didnt know, so don’t drive all the way around the building like I did. Also, I should add the front desk lady was so great! Very helpful and sweet, made me feel a little less nervous about being there for the first time.
