It’s Poppin Gourmet Popcorn

I have been to It’s Poppin 4 times now, and no complaints at all with the popcorn. We absolutely love the Chicago Blend! The reason I am giving 3 stars is the speed of service. The last 2 times I have come in I have been on a pretty tight schedule. I purchased about $ 20 worth of popcorn in my last 2 visits with an average checkout time of over 30 minutes. Employees communicate with the owner via text and apparently are unable to call him. There needs to be some major changes to speed of service and communication with owner.
The popcorn is delicious and very flavorful. We have had 5 different types and have not taken advantage of ordering specialty types yet. There are several types of popcorn flavors. I would go in the day before and place your order so you won’t have to deal with the long wait.

I originally wrote this review a couple weeks ago and mistakenly put the review under the wrong store. I had been at the Normal store and because I am new to the area, I confused Normal with Bloomington. My understanding is that the Bloomington store closed and the Normal location is their only location now.

«My wife and I went in for the first time when we moved to Bloomington a couple weeks ago. The leasing office for our apartment complex was a few doors down and we saw the store as we were walking to our car.
We are from Chicago originally and had Garrett’s popcorn more times than I can count! That being said, the last few times we went to Garrett’s was a disappointment! We were looking for another shop that sells gourmet popcorn and there are very few.
Also, to the reviewer that mentioned how expensive it is for the popcorn… obviously you have never been to Garrett’s or ordered from the Popcorn Factory! It’s Poppin’ isn’t cheap but it’s still less expensive than Garrett’s!
My wife and I bought the „Chicago Mix“ and really enjoyed it. The young lady working the cash register was very friendly and helpful. We inquired about a fancy mix of caramel and nut popcorn (I don’t remember the name) and were told that they are made special order so they don’t sit around and get stale. We decided to place an order and came back in on the weekend to get it.
When we arrived on the weekend, the owner was there greeting guests (impressive thing was he seemed to know many of them by first name) and we picked up our special order to bring back to family in Chicago.
Good popcorn, good variety, good location and friendly staff. We will be back!»
I have had the popcorn several times since and upgraded my original rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. Since the original review I have tried many more of their flavors and REALLY like Strawberry Cheesecake and Buffalo Ranch. I am looking forward to trying more flavors but realize it is a small store and it is hard for them to have all the flavors available all the time.
