I don’t usually write these reviews for anything but while shopping tonight at schnucks in Normal we had two seperate conversations with employees and both guys were personable and extremely helpful. David in the meat department was exceptional and talked about his own family while helping us out, made our experience a great one.

I don’t prefer just one grocery store to go to. The service in Schnucks was decent, no complains.

They don’t offer the best prices in town, but they do have a clean and comfortable environment. We only go here some times because it is close to home. Pretty good beer selection for a chain.

More often than not customer service is great. The co-manager went an extra mile for me one day which I greatly appreciated. Majority of the staff provide great customer service with a smile. I love wonderful customer service and enjoy seeing the employees when I go in.

Hey hipsters… awesome Gluten Free section.(yeah I used it, loved it, might come back) Hey control freaks… self checks rock. They still have ‘em. Unlike Walmart. Lame Walmart. Hey me… yeah me. Apparently I need to go back and look at other parts of the store for a more comprehensive review :-)

I prefer Schnucks over all the other grocery stores in the area.

I have one thing to say about this store: Double coupons! And then I have one more thing to say: $ 5 wine! Passed through here on the way to Springpatch — er, Springfield. I stopped in Bloomington-Normal to gas up and to get some snacks and beverage for the hotel room. Boy, was I surprised. If I lived down there, I’d be at Schnuck’s everyday! When you first walk into this store, almost the first thing you stumble upon is the wine and spirits section, which is HUGE. And very, very extensive. AND, on this day, almost everything was on sale. I ended up getting a case — a CASE! — of Rex Goliath Merlot for less than $ 60. Not only was it on sale 2 for $ 10, you get an extra 10 percent off when you buy more than 6 bottles. When’s the last time you saw a deal like that(for good wine) at Jewel or Dominick’s? Liquor aside, I was floored by how clean, bright open and generally pleasant this store was. Even the self-checkout machine was more comprehensive and easy to use than the ones in Jewel. And everything was cheap! Outside of the wine, everything I seemed to pick up(all name brand) was only $ 1 or $ 2(double coupons, baby!). Every staffer I encountered was more than happy to help. Staffers at Jewel and Dominick’s make you feel as if you are inconveniencing them with any questions. Not so at Schnuck’s. In fact, I had two staffers almost arguing over who would help me with the carriers for all my wine. That has never, ever, ever happened at any major grocery store in Chicago. Schnuck’s is everything Jewel and Dominick’s should be, and the price point can’t be beat. Too bad you’d have to drive 100 miles outside of the city to experience it.

Schnuck’s is my favorite supermarket anywhere. The Schnuck’s in Normal is not quite as large as the one in Bloomington, but it’s new and clean. Somehow, the prices at Schnuck’s are much cheaper than other local markets– Kroger, Jewel, etc.– and they tend to have a friendlier staff. The store in Normal has a pretty good deli, helpful butchers, and a surprising variety of wines and ethnic foods. Hours are 6 a.m. to Midnight(I believe they were open 24 hours when the store first opened in 2008).
