Riverwind Hotel

Longtime fan of Winstar Casino and can never get complimentary rooms on the weekend there which brings me to Riverwind Hotel Review. This Casino and Hotel has been so delightful and rewarding to say the least. We have found our new home away from home. The Casino is always clean, fast and friendly service and the hotel is outstanding. It was nice and quiet, very comfortable and the best of all this hotel and casino did not wreak of smoke. Passing through Norman OK, I would definitely stop in and stay the night. Totally worth it.

This stay has been the absolute worst stay at a hotel I have ever had and currently in the process of a lawsuit. To start with I arrived at the hotel at around 9 returning from a Thunder game. It was a giant hassle to check in or even get a room. When we finally got to the room we put our 1 year old daughter down for bed planning on going to bed shortly after her. Now my experience is that when your child goes to bed you should leave the room and let them sleep. We did exactly this, put our daughter in the bassinet, gave her her bottle and made sure she was safe and secure. Keep in mind that our family has stayed in hotels ranging from the Ritz Carlton in Beverly Hills to the standard Best Western. We have done this routine at every single stay and never had an issue. Our plan was to go to the casino withdraw money from the ATM and chose one of their restaurants to order ROOM SERVICE. My wife and I were gone no longer than 3 minutes and as we were walking back to our room we heard our name called over the intercom to go to the front desk. As I was walking towards the front desk my jaw hit the floor. I saw the concierge holding and rubbing my daughters back. Now he had a the sheriff that sits up there all night next to him however what the concierge did was beyond inappropriate and VERY illegal. Now if the sheriff was holding my daughter I would have been more at ease. It turns out that the concierge saw us leaving our room, knew we had a baby, let himself in our room and took our daughter out. Absolutely ridiculous! They argued with us stating that we were terrible parents on and on and on. I don’t understand how a 1 yr old that has a 50 inch flat screen in her room, a brand new iPad, her own MacBook, and just about everything she could ever want is mistreated in anyway??? I was above and beyond livid so I asked to checkout and at least have then refund me a quarter of the amount of our stay. Their answer no! Plain and simple avoid this hotel at all costs.

We were attending a special event in the Norman area and stayed at the Riverwind Hotel adjacent to the casino. I entered the lobby to inquire about my reservations and found a cordial and enthusiastic desk person. I soon found that everyone I came in contact with at the hotel was just as cordial and accommodating, including the manager of the hotel. We noticed him constantly interacting with customers. This was a great way to start our early weekend.
The lobby was spotless and we were offered our choice of a drink, coffee or juice and fresh cookies. We were assigned a room on the third floor and that was a good thing as there is a sky bridge connecting the hotel with the casino, thus you never have to walk outside. Our room was as spotless as the lobby. The decorating of the room definitely carried a professional decorators touch as all the bedding, drapes, wall color, etc. were in appropriate concert. The beds (two queens) were excellent and the mattresses provided us with an excellent night’s sleep. Everything in the room including the phone, television and lightning worked properly. The Internet hook up was excellent.
The amenities in the bathroom were quality products and the towels appeared to be almost new and large. The showerhead is a rain type that some folks will love.
I don’t think one could ask more from a hotel than what we received here at River Wind. The staff we cam in contact with was truly outstanding. There are restaurants in the hotel however there are several in the adjoining casino. Just ask for a discount coupon when checking in so that you can get your breakfast at a discount. This is a hotel that make you want to return as a customer.
