This place is close to our work. We have been there many times. The woman who works there is wonderful. There is, however, one reason to never go back there — it’s the guy who usually waits on us. I don’t know why we bother ordering ahead, it’s NEVER ready. He’s rude and tries to nickel and dime you for every little thing. Usually forgets chopsticks in the bag. Want more wasabi? $ 1.00!!! Get your sushi somewhere else. It’s not worth putting up with that jerk.

First time we visited the server is extremely RUDE however the food was good so we decided to give it a try again and once again the same guy was rude and not to mention who serves in the restaurant industry in sweatpants?! Then I have had my one and last experience with this place and will never go back I placed an order over the phone I come to pick it up and one of my rolls is wrong I explained I would not have ordered that and he misunderstood me so I said fine I’ll take the one correct roll and don’t worry about the other one he tells me I can’t cancel my order EXCUSE me how are you going to tell me I have to pay for something I didn’t order so I walked out and will never go back learn how to treat your customers your not the only one that serves Sushi!

Food was great, but service was poor. The server should not work in the food industry if he does not know how to be polite. I would only go back if I was ordering carry out.

Nice local sushi place. The food was fresh and good but the service was kind lacking. They have specials often. We had the bear roll, edamame as an appetizer, spicy tuna roll, spider roll, and house salad,& miso soup. Good for take out ambience is subpar.

The 2 stars was for the food being decent… however the service was horrible and should get 0. When asked about the difference between the beer the server said I don’t know I’m not old enough to drink. OK great, but at least learn how to describe them. We had to wait a while to finally order, then when we did the food was good but the server never asked if we were done or wanted more, just took our plates and chopsticks. Then when we ordered more they never replenished anything. We had to improvise to finish eating. When we wanted drink refills, they used our same glasses. I would like to return for the food but the service just kept getting worse the longer we stayed. They even sat down for a break together right in front of everyone. CHECKPLEASE

This is a solid«go to» choice for sushi. Very good quality. You’re not going to find things covered in roe, or roe garnishes. It’s not a high end sushi stop. But, good values abound. Especially on Sunday. Desserts are a bit overpriced. But, after that much sushi, who’s got room for dessert!!!

Tasty fresh sushi. One of the best in the area. Clean place. Friendly staff. Beautiful presentation. We went on a Sunday and the special rolls were 30% off. Five 8 and 10 piece rolls with tea — $ 58. Really nothing to complain about. For the price, an excellent choice.

Really nice food and nice service too. I love their sushi, seafood soup and my favorite edamame… enjoyed my last night in Aurora!

I would give it 6 stars if I could. A sushi place with delicious rolls that takes pride in its presentation AND has coupons? Ding ding, we have a winner! I had heard about this place through a few of my co-workers but never thought to venture there, even though it’s pretty close to my house. I dragged my husband along one night when I had the«sushi need» and we were pleasantly surprised by the whole thing. The décor is awesome(Christmas lights used as indoor lighting all year round? YESPLEASE) and everyone there was super friendly. I ordered us a round of hot tea and they gave us these mugs filled with toasted rice and loose green tea leaves. Sound weird? ITWAS! But it was the good kind of weird, I promise. It was so good that we went back two days later for the 30% off roll promotion that they run on Sundays. Still the same great service and yummy, yummy sushi. Their coupons can also be used on take out! HOWAWESOMEISTHAT?! This place is now our go-to whenever we get a sushi hankering. I called in a order and the lady was extremely rude and didn’t even seem like she wanted to be at work and the sushi wasn’t good. I would not go back.

I got the godzilla roll and the shrimp tempura roll both which includes shrimp and the shrimp still had the tails on them so I couldn’t eat the sushi roll while like you’re supposed to and since I had to pull the shrimp out the whole roll fell apart. I was very disappointed. My co worker also had the same problem with her rolls that had shrimp in them and she was disappointed also.

Went for lunch today and took a friend who’s never had sushi before. We got the California roll, mango tango, and the dragon on fire all were delicious! The service is good very friendly. The only thing that was a little unappealing were the rips in the booths And the odd plastic fish hanging from the ceiling. Other then that will def be back especially Sunday’s for the pleasant surprise of 30% on all rolls!

Sushi Pirate is solidly average– probably worthy of 3.5 stars. It is, to me, the equivalent of «fast casual» dining — kind of like a Panera or Chipotle. The ambiance is bizarre. What holiday are they celebrating? We really don’t know. Could be Christmas(there are lights strung), could be Valentines, could be Halloween or maybe Chinese New Year. This is not a fancy place. This is a «come as you are, celebrate whatever holiday you want, eat sushi» place. Today we got the Kani salad — it was full of crunch today. Normally it has much more crab meat –it’s definitely a roll of the dice how much fish you get. We had several rolls and all were decent. I think they must be trying to step up their game as they have added in special touches to their presentation. For instance, one roll had a strawberry cut like a rose — another had a flame in the middle. We ordered drinks today and, after we finished those, they never came back to ask if we needed more. So, we ate half our meal with nothing to drink. Oddly, they have added desserts but all have an Italian flair. We did not order as they were clearly pre-made frozen items. Prices are in line with other sushi houses. Not less expensive nor more expensive. Will we go back? Probably. This is the sushi place we go to when we want to eat quickly and not dress up. Is it the best sushi ever? No but it’s solidly average. Are there better sushi places around? Yes.

why is it called Sushi Pirate? No Clue why are we listening to Christmas music in mid Febuary? No Clue I just ate the good food and didn’t ask questions. Ambience not that impressive so next time I think I will just get carry out. I am going to go back.

I really like this sushi joint. Prices are fair(lunch special is $ 11 bucks for 3 rolls, soup and salad), and the sushi is yummy. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had better sushi other places, but once again let me state that I am a man seeking value, and Sushi Pirate has value in spades!

Went here today and I really enjoyed the Godzilla Rolls and Dragon Rolls my girlfriend and I shared. Dragon Rolls were my favorite out of the two. I have eaten at a few sushi places(Woow, Sushi City, Shinto, etc) and I must say, this will be a local favorite of mine. We plan on coming a lot more. I really like how the food was fresh and everything was pretty light yet filling. Great choice for North Aurora!

Was hesitant to try this place because the name is «sushi pirate.» My cousins gave me an awesome review on this place so I decided to try it since I always get coupons in the mailer. The lunch special is a good deal and everything was delicious. The place is small but that just means the waitstaff will focus on you easier. Never have had a bad experience. I would go again in a heartbeat.

I went in today for lunch… I wouldn’t say it is a go to place to eat sushi but it was pretty good and I didn’t realize that it was 30% off rolls on Sunday. The size of the rolls even for a non 30% off at the normal price was good… The sushi came out fast and smelled and tasted fresh… the service was so so-I think when I was asking my questions the man who took my order as well as made my sushi didn’t understand what I was asking… The miso soup I had to start with was good as well. The only thing that irked me is if you want to have extra sarrachia sauce on the side it is a $ 1 which I happily paid but come on really? You can buy a bottle for $ 5 at HMart and it’s not a special sauce they mix up it is sarrachia right out of the bottle. The interiors are nice-I could probably do without the nets on the ceiling and the plastic fish it doesn’t add anything to the atmosphere. The place was clean and neat… I would come here again if I was near the area but again not a go to sushi place.

Sushi Pirate has been around for some time and despite driving past it about once a week, I finally just got around to trying it out. I would say for the price, it is about an average sushi joint. The rolls we had were very good and the service was fine. We were there on a Sunday mid afternoon and there were only about eight other customers there. It’s clean and bright. Not a big deal but I would have preferred traditional music, not the contemporary music that was being played. Overall I will go back and try more.
