My experience here was decent enough to give them 3 stars, but not decent enough to ever come back. I had 3 pants that needed a very tiny sewing job– small holes. He wanted to charge $ 15 for each hole, which to me, sounded insane. They were holes that I myself could have sewn, but I did not have thick enough thread, and I only have a needle, not a sewing machine. On a sewing machine, I would do the work in about…2 minutes, each pant. So I tried to barter with him and asked, «How about all 3 pants for $ 30»(which I still think is outrageous). He seriously got offended and said«I don’t make deals!» Not wanting to get in an altercation, I kindly consented to the $ 15 charge but said I would only have him do 2 pairs. Then he said, «Ok, you do all 3 for $ 37.» What happened to not making deals? I said ok, and after tax it came out to $ 37 something, and because he didn’t have change/coins, he charged me $ 38. Who doesn’t have change in their own store? And if you don’t, the courteous thing to do would be to round down, not up. I too am from a different culture so I understand that people from another culture can communicate and behave in a way that is offensive to the thin, entitled American skin. But since there are scores of alteration places around Decatur, I will choose a different one next time. To be fair, the actual work they did was ok, so if you are loaded with cash and low expectations for courtesy and customer service, then this is a decent place to go.
