Got the red curry with steamed tofu. Best Thai food I’ve had in a long time. Superb! They’re open late too.

If you are bored one evening and in the mood for some exotic food, a good thing to do is have a meal at a thai restaurant with karaōke. You can go to the thai temple where they have a food fair where you have to pay your food with tokens but it’s not as fun since the singers are not consuming alcohol. We went to Pa Ord Zap Ver since we like trying thai restaurants every chance we get. The difference here is that this place has a karaōke dj in the evening and he also plays the keyboard. The crowd is old and it’s their place so they’re comfortable and they sing in Thai. Sometimes a couple will dance to the tune. Either it will spoil your appetite or if you’re also drinking it’ll make you drunk right away. We ordered our usual Tom kha kai, pork with greens and flat noodles. Not really the best tasting among the many thai restaurants around LA. Maybe we should have ordered the Pa Ord noodle which is their specialty but my group decided not to go back to this spot. It doesn’t mean I won’t go back by myself. I think I like the sound of foreign sounding crooning. Maybe I will have what they are drinking as well.

Dear Zapp Ver Lady, I see you are still serving the extremely cheap, cardboard tasting rice and to add insult to injury I never realized you charge $ 2 for a small bowl. Sigh. You win. I have no choice but to admit defeat on my part. Touché, my friend. Touché. This afternoon I had the spicy sole from the chef’s recommended menu. The dish consists of 4 small white fish nuggets that taste freezer burned with a bunch of raw thai eggplants and some tasteless sauce thrown in. I dare say this was the worst Thai food I have ever had. The absolute worst. Perhaps even worse than the rice you serve and certainly worse than anything from Sanamluang and we both know how we feel about their food. I also had my usual tom yum noodle soup but today the broth was super sweet and the taste of coconut oil gone bad saturated the entire bowl. I stopped eating by the 3rd spoonful, the taste and scent of rancid sweet coconut repulsed me and I lost my appetite. After my disappointing meal I asked for a to-go cup to take the refilled glass of water with me because everyone should conserve water in this time of drought and when I poured the water into the white to-go cup I notice it is orangey brown. Wot?! My eyes widened in disbelief. At first I thought it was a little tea mixed in with the water but why would anyone add tea to water if not to hide something?! All this time I’ve been consuming rusty orange water from you. ALLTHISTIME. I hope for my health’s sake it’s just unfiltered water brought on by the recent rain but to be honest today’s visit have completely soured me on your restaurant and I’m sad to say I will not be returning for awhile. I will no doubt miss your food. Good luck to you, Ms. Zapp Ver. I harbor no hard feelings and wish you well in all your endeavors. Sincerely, A former fan and lover of Thai cuisine

This is probably one of the worst thai food restaurant I’ve ever been to so far. The water that they served me and my friends was orange. You may think that it’s the cup that they use that gives it an orange color but its not. We poured the water into a clear cup and it was orange; dark orange to be exact. The bowls was very dirty; they need to change it because it looks really unappetizing. I ordered a mild tom yum noodles but instead gave me something really spicy. The young, asian waitress was really nice and gave us a good service though.

I’ve made it a slight tradition as of late to come get late night dinner here around 10pm with my mom every Sunday after I get off of work. The service is a bit spotty but I also drink a lot of water especially after ordering very spicy so my cup tends to be a bit devoid of water. I usually order the boat noodle with beef. It’s usually very good with nothing needed to be added. Just tell the server that you don’t want any additional sugar added in and you’ll be happy sailing. If you want to add more you can always do so yourself with the condiments on the table. The shrimp oil fried rice is also very good. Definitely one of my favorites. Give the place a try but be careful about ordering spicy. This place uses Thai definition of spicy and little spicy might even be overwhelming for most people.

I’ve been to the Pa Ord on sunset and la brea, the one on Hollywood, and what is now known as Ras Noodle off woodman ave in the valley. Ras Noodle is my favorite, but this new location on Sherman way is pretty darn close! If you’re looking for some authentic Thai boat noodle soup, this is the only place you can go, and HAVE to go. Order the #1 original Tom yum noodles with«sen lek» rice noodles, or the flat noodles. I can usually handle a «medium» spicy, but at this location, I go MILD. The medium is way too spicy, and I like spice! Another classic fish at Pa Ord is the crispy pork. This is a good snack to share.

For awesome boat noodle soup PA Ord or Saap café are my go to spots. Since I was in the valley, I wanted to try this location out. My favorite location is the one on Sunset in Hollywood. The boat noodle here is delicious! It is a little on the spicy side! I ordered medium and it was super spicy, but still delicious… next time I will go with mild instead. The service here is so friendly and great. This location is located in a kinda busy strip mall, but parking wasn’t an issue;however, I can see on a busy weekend it can be difficult to find parking. Overall the food was great at a decent price. Give it a try! Tip: Try not to order boat noodle for take out or Togo — it doesn’t taste the same and just plain gross. So eat in and enjoy!

Big fan of the food here. Like many, my favorites include the tom yum soup and the crispy pork. I usually get egg noodles with the tom yum and I get liver and the whole shebang. I’m a big fan of the owner, Pa Ord, herself! She’s very nice to me. I like the staff. Glad they opened this NoHo spot… It’s close to a couple places I work at.

This probably has to be the worst Thai food place I have step foot in, 1st let me start of by saying i was seated and waited for over 15 min to order my food… it gets even better a waitress with blonde short hair has to have to worst customer service and attitude here after a long wait my food finally arrived to my table and I am allergic to onions and their was onions on my food so I didn’t want it anymore due to health issues she didn’t like that she walked away with attitude and then she brings me back the same exact thing and from the corner of my eye she keeps looking and laughing im assuming she did something to my food because even the cooks where looking over the counter to see if I would take a bite. It was overall a disappointed and I wouldn’t recommended this place to nobody.

Alright so I originally wrote my review when this restaurant first opened and I wasn’t impressed. I liked their old restaurants better at other locations so it greatly disappointed me and I gave it a three stars. Due to circumstances of not my own choosing, I had to eat at this restaurant on many occasion thereafter. But after a few trips you learn the trick of the trade. The reason I didn’t like this restaurant is because almost all their noodles come prepared with spoonfuls of sugar. BLECH. A friend told me that I am weird, in that as a Thai person I do not like to eat sweet food. But I honestly don’t! So if you’re like me and you don’t like sweet food, please ask them for less sugar! Traditionally Thais would just add sugar on their own at the table if they like their noodles sweet. Their Rad Na Yen Ta Fo is pretty good if you’re into that kind of thick gravy soup. Yen Ta Fo is a pink noodle dish served with seafood, tofu, and blocks of pig’s blood(it’s delicious). Their Tom Yum noodles are also good, but like everything if you don’t like sweet ask for little sugar! Their service is pretty good and my water was always topped off. I just miss the old Pa Ord noodles down by Woodman across from the Kaiser Permanente =[.

My son became a «regular» at the Hollywood location. He recommended the restaurant very highly, saying that it was excellent, very cheap and the portions were«huge». So, when I found out that they had a restaurant in the Valley, I thought this was my chance to try it. We ordered the Pad Thai noodles and the spicy beef. The Pad Thai was OK, but the portion was very small compared with other Thai restaurants. The spicy beef was very tough and chewy. The online menu prices are shown for the Hollywood location only, not North Hollywood. The actual North Hollywood menu prices are MUCHHIGHER. We were not very happy with our experience and will go back to the restaurants we normally frequent.

PLASTICRICE!!! Do not eat here!!! A friend of mine and myself came to eat at Bua Siam, but they are small and was crowded so we decided to try this place instead because we were starving. When I questioned the lady about the texture, taste and appearance of the rice she was very vague and avoiding the subject. I mentioned to my friend that I’ve been reading about this plastic rice that came from China, it’s super cheap and scary. I then made a comment to my friend about using a lighter to try and burn this rice to see if it melts. But none of us smoke and we didn’t have a lighter with us. I then made a comment about taking the rice with me to test it, once we were done eating, they came a scooped up that rice faster than anything else on the table. They didn’t even give me the option of taking it to go… Hmmmmmmm. Told on yourself! I did take a little bit of it that was in the table with me and sure enough I burned it and it melted… GROSS!!! I always order from Bua Siam located in the same parking lot… Best Thai Food in the Valley! I asked them how that place next to them was doing and told the person about my experience with the plastic rice. I was told that during the week they are not busy at all, and all the kitchen and wait staff come to Bua Siam to eat instead of eating in their own restaurant… WOW!!! Talk about a huge REDFLAG, again this is telling all one needs to know. This place should be shut down for being so cheap and trying to poison people.

Man, came here once before and it was good so we came back. Got sat and realized it’s karaōke night with not so good singers and blasting stereo systems. We changed our order to to-go. Still sitting here… Trying to withstand the noise while waiting for our food. I go to another Thai place with blasting music but there’s also a full bar with drunk people so it’s acceptable. But this place doesn’t strike me as a place with loud music where you can’t even hear yourself think. This place looks more like a quiet, family sit-down restaurant where you can eat in peace with maybe some background music. Oh my gosh! Our food is ready! Everyone around us has decided to get their food to-go as well and the restaurant is emptying quickly. We’ll probably still come back because the food is good and the service is solid. But we’ll make sure it’s not karaōke night before we come. (Still 4 stars because it’s still good food and service which is what counts. Just warning my fellow Unilocalers!)

Another location and nice for convenience of parking and nearby the freeway. It was new years day Friday and I was route home from a Northern Ca. wine tasting run. The founding owner was here and it seemed like she had her key staff here because I recognized some of her employees from several other operations. Started off with the crab and fish cake deep fried appetizer with dipping sauce and followed with the regular sized #1 popular soup but with thin noodles. The food and service was spot on as usual and consistently tasty authentic. BTW this location accepts credit cards, which is another reason on top of their solid food and service to return.

Pa Ord Zapp Ver is a Thai restaurant located on Sherman Way. This is Pa Ord’s fourth location. There’s still one location on Sunset Blvd and another one on the other side of Sunset Blvd. There’s another location on Hollywood Blvd but the kitchen burned down so they’re fixing it. I’ve been to all of her locations and reviewed all of them. The décor is nearly the same as every Pa Ord location. There’s the same three photos of her which include two of her photos on the boat making noodle soups and one photo of her when she was younger. The restaurant is quite spacious and there are lots of tables. Their menu has a variety of Thai dishes including salads, appetizers, soups, rice soups, noodle soups, pan fried noodles, rice dishes, curries, entrees, desserts, beverages, beer, and wine. They have a much bigger food selection than their first location. Here’s what I’ve had: *Tom Yum Noodle Soup — The broth was fantastic. It was sweet and sour with a hint of peanut flavor and it ran down smooth. I chose small rice noodles as my choice of noodles. The noodle portion was quite grand and the noodle texture was spot on. I’m glad this noodle soup was just as good just like the other Pa Ord locations. *Fried Shrimp Cakes — These were perfectly deep fried and it was really good! The shrimp mixture was delicious and the cakes were pretty fluffy. The plum sauce was a great dipping sauce as it added a nice sweet flavor to it. *Deep Fried Crab Rolls — This was nicely deep fried. The crab meat, ground pork, and shrimp was very good. The plum sauce provided with it was also good. Service was great! We were greeted immediately upon entry. One of the servers recognized us from the first location. She was very friendly and attentive. Pa Ord also saw us and greeted us. Overall, great Thai food. I still need to try two more noodle soups(Yen Ta Fo and Boat Noodle Soups) that I usually get at the other Pa Ord locations. I’ll definitely frequent this location a bit more. Pretty much Pa Ord is my go-to place for Tom Yum Noodle soup since there’s no other Thai restaurant that makes it as good. So yes, I’ll be back for another visit.

Growing up as a Thai in LA, I’ve eaten Thai food from nearly every restaurant in the city. Pa Ord is a classic that always makes me feel at home, and I’ve yet to have a better bowl of noodles elsewhere. This new location is being overseen by the lady herself, and she’s brought her best chefs with her. If you manage to catch a glimpse of her when she’s taking a break from the kitchen, don’t be afraid to say hi! She’s always super friendly. Today, I had the original Tom Yum, Boat Noodles, Pad Krapow, and fried oysters. Be careful when ordering something spicy here — they take their heat seriously. But if you can handle the spice, I say go for it! Makes you feel like you’re back in Thailand.

Let’s keep this simple. Finally place that serves up one mean authentic Boat Noodle. Here at Pa Ord you will definitely get you authentic thai food with the heat. Service: Some what ok. Don’t expect a five star service here. Food: Boat Noodle Soup: The best I had so far. Great flavor, and the soup was nice and rich. I do recommend ordering mild spicy. I got mine spicy. Don’t get me wrong. I love my soup extra spicy, but here at Pa Ord they take it a bit to much. Yen Ta Fo: This was my go to noodle dish when I was little. This was absolutely fantastic. Silver Noodle Salad: This was also good, but i had better. It was good enough that I would order it agan. I’ll be back!

Pa Ord is finally back in the valley! They’ve replaced Cha Chaa(and the mango lady) but the restaurant looks the same. Not much has changed inside, but the food is definitely better. There’s even(an attempt at) live music at night! I ordered the duck noodle soup and tom yum noodles. Pa Ord is known for their noodles and these two dishes didn’t disappoint. They were flavorful, satisfying and exactly what I expect Thai noodles to taste like. The shrimp paste fried rice was delicious too. A definite fave here. Not many places make this dish and fewer make it well. Who knows how long this location will be around before it’s sold off and Pa Ord opens yet another place. If you’re going to get one bowl of noodles, stick with the tom yum noodles. Very tasty without being spicy and order it with the flat noodles. I loved the bits of dried shrimp too. The small bowl is plenty. That way there’s room for something else. Thai iced coffee, anyone? Mmm.

We’ve been to every Pa Ord in LA(ok, the two of them on Sunset heehee) and are stoked that there is finally one in the San Fernando valley! Located near a list of well known Thai restaurants(Sanam, Krua, Bua Siam), this is the only one that has the authentic«boat noodle soup» that’s actually good! We also ordered the crispy pork and vegetables, but at this establishment, their pork wasn’t crispy. not like the other Pa Ords. So that was disappointing. Their crab fried rice was bomb though! Very tasty!!! I’d order that again, for sure. Another good thing about this location: they accept credit cards(with a minimum of $ 15) in comparison to the other two that are cash only. If you don’t mind the large at screen TV playing Thai dramas(I wish I knew what they were saying, but it involved a whole lotta crying and screaming) then head on over. Oh, and I noticed a mini stage with a(huge) tip jar, mic stand and music stand. Must be for karaōke night? Welcome to the valley, Pa Ord! I’m so happy you’re here!

2nd time here within 4 days. Great food both times. Items ordered: Larb Moo & Sticky rice. Very good, balanced, fresh, flavorful. Pad Pak Kana(Sitr-fried Chinese Broccoli) was some of the best I’ve ever had. Flash fried, still crispy but moist. Flavorful sauce. Panang Moo was good. But definitely not the best I’ve had. Curries have to set and take all day to make the curry pastes etc. restaurants like this have shortcuts. And it shows, unfortunately. Egg Rolls were a bit mushy. Guaytiaw rua was on point. Will definitely come back as this is now the top Thai spot among a street of wannabes.

Mediocre at its best. This place is a roller coaster of great service with mediocre food. High expectations played a great role in great disappointments. I came to this restaurants with my parents who wanted to try out the new«Pa-Ord» establishment. We first encountered the problem of finding out whether this place was opened or closed at 10am. There was nothing on Unilocal so I couldn’t even find out on this app, and I could not locate a phone number while I dictated how to navigate my phone to my phone literate parents, while I drove. But we were in luck! The menu said they were open at 11am but they were really open at 10am. So we ordered the boat noodle soup sans the noodle, pad Thai, spicy basil seafood bamboo shoots, a side of rice, and southern Thai fried rice. When the rice came I was a little shocked. It’s no great surprise that many Thai restaurants are shying away from serving Thai Jasmine rice because of how expensive it is, but because we came when they were opened I believe I was served last nights left over rice! But I don’t know, maybe their rice just sucks. Which brings me to our southern Thai fried rice. Other than the Ras Noodle one I had three weeks ago, this by far was one of my least liked southern Thai fried rice. My fried rice had a charred taste to it, not to mention they used the same hard rice they served us. The bamboo shoots were pretty good. My mother did not seem to like it. She critiqued that it was not flavorful enough, but I was alright with it. The boat noodle sans the noodle was good! Great flavor. They were always known for this. Their Pad Thai was pretty good. The noodles were a bit al dente which I kind of liked. The flavor of the noodle itself could have used a bit more sweetness, saltiness, and sour from the tamarind sauce. Perhaps today is an off day. I will maybe come back in the future to try out other dishes. Oh and service was spot on. Their water also has jasmine tea in it.
