Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden

I would agree with Mr. B that special events are great at the museum. Just attended the opening day event which was lovely. Music, food and drink along with great art, complimentary. Very generous indeed. Thank-​you!

It seems that the museum did not like my earlier review and I just received what I consider to be a threatening letter from them seeking a retraction claiming that I posted a misleading statement about their alcohol policy. I will post the language contained in their contract and everyone can see what I stated was accurate:
«The person making the contribution is also responsible for determining that no guest consumes alcoholic beverages to excess and that guests who drive from the Museum do not drive under the influence of alcohol.»
In this instance, I, as the person making the required $ 2500 contribution to rent the premises, would be responsible for monitoring alcohol consumption by guests during the wedding under that contractual provision.
The Museum now sends me a letter claiming that I misread the foregoing because the «site does not require the wedding couple to personally monitor alcohol consumption.»
Really? They question whether I read the contract but I quoted their contract above so I guess everyone needs to make their own choice as to whether to agree to it.
They also claim that they have permanently removed the void against public policy language about holding them harmless for their own negligent acts but since I refused to sign the contract I cannot verify that claim.
As for the letter asking me to post a retraction — — - all I can say is I posted their contract language and I stand by my interpretation of that contract, including the requirement that the wedding couple hold the museum harmless from any claims filed against the Museum arising out of the event.
Sorry, Hammond, but you cannot threaten me and expect a retraction when I posted your exact contract language

Great walking space any time of the year but the special events here are what makes this place stand out as a garden worth visiting. The magic here is evident from the moment you walk through the doors and the attention to detail clear but when you get a group of 100 or more people converging on the location you really see it for what it is — nothing short of amazing.
