We took a chance on Father’s Day brunch — an expensive mistake! They advertised brunch to include juice or fruit along with the meal. The French toast was literally 2-slices of bread cut in half with a side of packaged syrup for $ 18.95. We were never offered anything else, including a refill on our $ 3.25 cup of Joe(makes Starbucks look like a bargain). We saw our waitress to take our order and deliver our meal — we had to run her down for the bill and to pay. I should have looked at Unilocal before stopping by — hopefully this review will help others!

Waited 40 minutes for the Worst food ever! Inedible fish and chips and mediocre club sandwich. Will not be dining there again.

We go here once a year when I visit because my dad loves this place. However, they need a major overhaul, or at least to make some changes. The waitress we had was RUDE as could be. She acted like it was a chore to serve us, never acknowledged any of our thank yous or anything. The manager on duty was just walking around with his ipad, didnt seem to be laying any attention to what was happening on his floor. It took FOREVER to get drinks because the bartender was no where in sight-we ordered a budlight and a glass of wine-it should not have taken that long even if they had been busy-which they weren’t. The only redeeming thing this trip was that the burger was okay. They are in a prime location and could make a lot of money if they revamped themselves a bit. It’s been like this for as long as I can remember, at least 10 years. Next year we will be looking for a new tradition.

Terrible service, food & drinks took FOREVER. Food is just meh, nothing to write home about. Also last time I was there the waitress refused to split the bill among different credit cards and claimed she«couldn’t». Meanwhile I’ve done it there before and also there is no register that doesn’t let you do that, she clearly just didn’t want to which was frustrating. My friend’s burgers completely fell apart and were greasy messes and my fish sandwich was just OK. There’s tons of great restaurants in downtown Northport, this is not one of them.

If you’re thinking about it just don’t. I’m not a snob or a picky eater, but, this place is a no go. The inside has an outdated ship theme. The turkey burger I got was dry, had little flavor and the guacamole on top wasn’t real guacamole. The steak fries were good though?

Just stopped in for a quick lunch bite with my girl. They had some decent beer on tap and the baked clams were pretty good. We got burgers. Mine was a bit too greasy but otherwise ok. My gf got a turkey burger with guacamole on it. She wasn’t too happy with it. We both got tomatoes on our burgers, which we both asked not to get. The place was cute and I would try it again. Just wasn’t great this time.

3 stars for the waitress, her fantastic service and the cute bar atmosphere. But that’s it. The cob salad was overloaded with onions and the coconut martini was tasty but the bartender forgot to put liquor in it.

If there was an option to give a no star rating I would. We stopped in to skippers Sunday afternoon for appetizers. Our waitress was horrible, we had to flag her down just to get water. My sister couldn’t have her soup because she wasn’t given a spoon or any silverware. When she asked the waitress for a spoon it took at least 10 minutes because she got one. There were 5 of us and only 3 of us were given water. The restaurant was not crowded at all so we should not have received this service. Food was mediocre you can’t really go wrong with mozzarella sticks or chicken fingers. We will definitely not be back!

Local restaurant and pub on the water in what is by far one of my favorite spots on Long Island! The food is great(we get the blooming onion for an appetizer almost every time!) and they have a pretty good beer selection highlighting a lot of local breweries and sailor themed favorites! It’s a cozy go-to if you’re on the North Shore and the surrounding area keeps you coming back!

Three strikes, you’re out. Skippers was not busy the last 2 times I was there, but apparently the wait staff had other things to do. The old ‘drop off the menu and dont come back’ routine was in play here, we finally summoned after 20 minutes to at least place a drink order. One of the martinis came out wrong, and again, we summoned for the waiter. When we explained what was wrong, he immediately told us he would charge us for a replacement, before even giving the bartender a chance to fix it. I guess replacing 1 drink was more important than repeat business from our party of 6. So, our orders came out in peices, and we ate but nothing outstanding. The burger was over cooked on a slightly stale roll, other dishes were ‘meh’ at best. Cold French fries, I hate cold French fries! No time to send them back after that ordering fiasco, we had theatre tickets. No more! None of us will go back. The one star is for the location. Nice spot in town. Too bad, were local and eat out often. I’ll stick with Robkes thanks!

I had a good burger and soup, and the atmosphere by the bar was very good. They had a live band playing that was very good and interacting with the audience(on 11÷21÷15, didnt get their name, it was a trio). It made for an enjoyable night. Also, the beers were cold which is something to complain about in many places i’ve been to lately. I would go back for sure.

Meh. The service was fine although he kept calling my mother and I ‘girls’ which I’m not sure if it was condescending or just what he does. Anyway, he really wasn’t why this place received two stars from me but I thought it was worth a metntion. The food is really mediocre. For the appetizer, we ordered buffalo wings(standard, right?) but they weren’t good. The seasoning lacked and the blue cheese dressing was watery. I ordered the southwestern corn salad with scallops and my mom ordered the spinach salad & grilled shrimp. My salad was not very flavorful and the scallops were small. According to my mom, her salad was tasty but would’ve liked more shrimp(she received three). I would like to say I’ll be back but I’m not interested. For the locals, I hope they get better.

Full on mediocrity. I was in town and hadn’t been to skippers in a while so I figured I’d stop in. The restaurant wastes the beautiful water view it has with small windows in a dark wood room. The booths are cozy, so if you decide to go I’d request a booth. They also have a large area for outside dining, so I guess if we were really looking for the water view we should’ve sat outside. One of the specials is what really drew me in, the burratta, it’s nice fresh mozzarella with a light pesto sauce and sweet cherry tomatoes. I would certainly reccommend it. I split a BBQ chicken sandwich with my boyfriend and it was ok. There was certainly no way to eat it as a sandwich. It was a large piece of chicken breast slapped across both sides of the open faced bun. The chicken was cooked well but the BBQ sauce seemed like it was added after the chicken was cooked, giving the inside of the beast very little flavor. The fries were good, steak fries, and it was a nice sized portion. The service was awkward, the girl obviously had very little experience, she couldn’t even tell us what beers they had on tap, and didn’t offer to double check. She also spaced the appetizer and main course poorly. We ordered the app first, which I rarely do but it was slow and I felt like she was pressuring us to order something. She came back quickly after she took the app order and asked if we picked a main so we settled on the chicken sandwich. Before we finished the app the sandwich came out, it just seemed rush for such a slow place. One of the chefs brought our main entrée out and we didn’t see our waitress for quite a bit after that. The bartender was also loud. And just a pet peeve of mine, they have a chalk sign out front for a twin lobster special, which they describe the price as «market price.» The sign can be changed so easily, why not just display the daily changing price?

Very disappointed. We went here for appetizers and we were just incredibly underwhelmed. The fried calamari were like rubberbands. The potato skins you could see the grease from the cheese just run off of them. The chicken quesadilla was dry. The Cesar Salad was — literally — two whole heads of romaine lettuce with Cesar Salad dressing drizzled on it. You had to cut the salad up yourself. The worst, though, were the sliders — my girlfriend’s daughter bit into them and there was this really weird pink-like gristle in them. On the plus side, the brie and mango quesadillas were great and the clams on the half shell were good(although it’s really difficult to screw up clams on the half shell). The waitstaff was also excellent. In the end, we all felt really let down by our experience. We won’t be back.

2 stars sadly for the food: baked clams were hard & rubbery, panko breaded shrimp was overly coated & hard/crunchy(was looking for light & crispy) and the cuban sandwich was ok… interesting that the cuban had an egg in there… the waffle chips that came with the cuban were good! 5 stars for the waterfront location, rustic cozy décor, cozy booths, long shiny coppertop bar with views of the harbor, and the friendly bartender! We missed happy hour(ends at 7pm), but the menu & prices looked good! I’d come back for drinks. 60 min Dogfish IPA on tap was nice! I think there were about 5 – 6 beers on tap and a pageful of drinks, wine and bottled beers.

If you don’t mind paying $ 20 for fish and chips, an almost empty ketchup bottle, and average service, then you’ll be satisfied. The Northport area is beautiful and the surrounding waters just exude with ambiance in and out of the restaurant, but the food is overpriced. Friendly place and atmosphere give it a redeeming quality.

Best fried calamari I’ve ever had. They lose stars because a few of the waitresses need personality injections. And I’m iffy on the food I feel like it’s either really good or just so so and for the prices I feel like it’s not as good as it should be. I’ve had a few things I have really liked and my table has had a few things that they didn’t like. The BBQ salmon is great but it’s atop a salad that’s not so great. I’ve had the veggie panini that I thought was very tasty but I realized was pretty greasy and gave me belly troubles. I’m on the fence but I’d go in for the calamari and a drink and be satisfied.

Skippers is nice but not too nice. It is a place every Northport resident has been to and it gets tons of repeat customers. It has an ok menu, with ok food in it. There is a bar with ok drinks, and its location is pretty nice, near the harbour, with outdoor seating in the summer where you can bring your dog to eat right beside you — that to me is the highlight of this place. I personally feel the food is nothing to brag about and neither is the service.

This place is something you MUST avoid. It will be the first place you see after you park your car, but for the love of God, keep walking. The food is absolutely putrid. Overcooked, dry, bland, etc. Plus, you wait a long time and pay a lot of money for it. I would rather eat at McDonald’s. Went there with 2 buddies for a beer. We ordered 3 Coors Lights, and the bill was $ 22! Those are city prices, and to sit in a dark bar that stinks of old fish. Never again.

Skipper’s is a welcoming and comfortable pub with an incredible view of the Northport Harbor. The restaurant offers a wide selection of appetizers, lunch and dinner options for the seafarer, «landlubber», and farmhand. After a walk on the pier, we came here to watch the sunset and enjoy a drink. The holiday drink specials were delicious! Our party of 6 tried several specialty drinks off the cocktail menu along with their beers on tap and everyone left happy. I enjoyed my Candy Cane Hot Cocoa drink with peppermint schnapps — just the ticket when it’s 10 degrees outside! Our server was very friendly and attentive, but not pushy about ordering another round of drinks. She was happy to take a photo of our group and mentioned she enjoys the out of town visitors who drop in — always nice to feel welcomed when some restaurants only cater to the locals.
