bar was too crowded so we took our drinks to a table and, instead of being forgotten, the service was still on-point! very attentive staff. this place always has the best live music, although it’s always too loud to hear anything else. i’m never disappointed with the wine i order. finally tried the food last night & was impressed. my friend and i shared a meat & cheese board. best prosciutto ive had on long island in a while! we met the owner & she was so friendly. will start making this place a regular spot for me.

I was pleasantly surprised. This place was«cute,» not too crowded given the Northport location; good venue to meet up with a small group of friends, or get a cozy table w/a date/friends. Good, helpful servers/staff. I didn’t eat, so my review is based on beverages only. They had a decent selection; I opted for the Super Tuscan, which was delish. They also have a few premium beers, which makes them well-rounded. Now, if I can only get them to carry some scotch and add a roof top cigar lounge!(A man can dream!) ;p

Coolest place on Main St. As a Northport Village resident we know the struggle of dining at Maroni’s. Waiting for a reservation, then waiting for a table & then having it be so expensive is such a pain! We now prefer the calming atmosphere of the Wine Cellar where we can order Maroni’s famous pasta, or any other food on main street! My parents go here every Saturday now because it is such a good DEAL& such a great place! They love it and when I finally went to see what all the buzz was about I loved it too! Can’t get enough!

So, I’ve been meaning to try this place. The ambiance and music was great albeit a little loud to have a conversation. The wine was pretty good, I had Montepulciano and my friend had Temprenillo. We ordered manchego, serrano ham and gouda. I have to say the cheese was dried out like it wasn’t stored properly. Also the serrano ham was a complete disappointment it was thick, red, and dry… which led me to believe it wasn’t serrano ham. I know this ham to be more velvety and less salty than prosciutto. It came on a board with dried figs, balsalmic/olive oil dip and salted marinated marcona almonds. The bread wasn’t warm it was almost stale, but the service was great, so 3 stars. What was interesting was about five other restaurants are partnered with them. This way guests could order dinner/takeout and Wine Cellar would plate it for you. Pretty cool community but I’d rather go to the restaurants themselves and order the meal. Lastly, marketing the place as tapas is false advertising. Nothing on the menu was a tapa it was more like cheese and cold cuts. Tapas are warm and rich mini-appetizers. Nothing was cooked in the tapas menu. Sigh. 2 stars.

I wanted to like this place a lot but unfortunately that’s not what happened… It was okay at best… The place itself is gorgeous and it’s located on that cute little Main Street, I almost felt like I was on vacation a little lol… Anyway… Place had live music when we got there which eh… isn’t my favorite… I mean it’s a wine bar, can you play some sexy, low music… My friend and I were glad when the live music stopped then the playlist they had on was awesome…(Love retrograde by James Blake!!) Wine list was great. The cot èst Chardonnay was really crisp and I like the way they describe the wines of your choosing by the notes… That’s a good way for a new wine drinker to figure out what they like, so we enjoyed that… Meat and cheese plate, nothing special. The Gouda was really good, the chorizo was gross it tasted old … And the spinach dip was def from Costco. It came with those«flat bread» crackers… Like idk… There are SO many better wine and cheese spots… I thought this one was gonna be so much better. It’s really competitive out there I feel like other places really deliver and this one was just mediocre. Prices were not bad and the place is actually very nice inside. Some high top tables and chairs and a couch like bench running across the wall, that was nice…

They are very full of themselves. Yes, it’s a great concept — but it doesn’t mean you get to be cocky to your customers… Especially when you are overpriced — just saying…

I have been here many times since they have been open, don’t know why I waited so long to review. Went with a group this week and as always the service was excellent, the servers always make great food and wine suggestions and are quite attentive. Wednesday they have 25% off bottles which is always a plus. I have met friends here from age 28 to 68 and the music wine and food is always a hit, never had one complaint. Sometimes we get the 6 oz glasses and have had the 2 oz glasses as a 3 or 4 wine tasting. The hummus is excellent and I was out with a friend last night that is a great cook and quite picky who agreed. Olive medley always a nice choice as is the plate of 5 assorted meats and cheeses which come with poached salted almonds, tiny pickles, Italian bread, olive oil & balsamic vinegar and figs as accompaniments. We especially liked the Bresaola(salted cured beef) and Saucisson Sec(pork garlic type sausage) and the Murcia Da Vino(drunken goat cheese) and Manchego cheese this last visit. They have live music which we have always enjoyed, check the schedule for summer or winter times. In the winter we enjoyed live music on Wed or Fri nights. If you want dinner they provide menu’s of local restaurants which you order from and they deliver the food right to your table. Nice option, we usually stick to the wine and small plates. Prices are equal to if not less than other long island wine & cheese bars.

As a beer drinker, I wish there was more than 3 taps for beer, but I what can I expect from a wine bar? This place is truly awesome. Excellent, excellent service. I can’t emphasize this point enough. In my two weeks exploring the area so far, service has been a real mixed bag… a lot of people who probably shouldn’t be in a service industry, period. Then there’s the late-night guy at Gunther’s on Monday nights and this place. I asked for a suggestion based on previous likes and actually tried a wine I thoroughly enjoyed, which is rare. I love how the bar looks, and there was some nice low-key live acoustic performance going on that set the tone real well. The wine list was extensive so I’d imagine it’d please any wine connoisseur. This is my favorite drinking establishment in the area thus far.

Fantastic neighborhood find! Wonderful eclectic selection of wines complimented by an assortment of Tapas and the ability to order food from local restaurants make The Wine Cellar a Northport destination for sure! A walk down to beautiful Northport harbor after visiting The Wine Cellar will help you burn off the calories.

I really enjoyed this place. The prices were pretty good and the concept was cool. You can order food from some of the surrounding restaurants and they deliver it to your table. The atmosphere was nice also. If you’re looking for a cute place to get wine with friends try this place.

Nice wines, great tapas, talented live band and great ambiance! Service was ok. We had a forth person joy us on the bar table top, a server brought over a chair but never took any order. So my forth guest kept getting up to order from the bar. This place has an unusual addition to the menu, they can bring in food from local restaurants! After having a bunch of tapas we ordered grandmas meatballs from Marconi and when they served it was hot and ready to eat as if u were at the other restaurant. I was really impressed

Excellent atmosphere, wish the wine selection changed more frequently than it does. Love coming here for a glass of wine and some live music. Service is enjoyable and staff is attentive. It can get crowded on weekends so if you want a table, come early. Great place!

Fantastic business model and one of the rare Wine Bars on Long Island that executes it so well. Take a nice space in a cozy town, in the heart of main street, renovate it with a viticulturalist feel, add a friendly staff a decent selection of wine and draft beers. They also have a short-list in-house menu with a very nice charcuterie selection, and offer service of local restaurant’s take out menus. Pretty cool ideas. I do have some suggestions for improvements that would take it to the next level. The wine selection is rather brief and relatively stagnant, as almost all of the wines on the list seem to be the same from when I first started visiting years ago. Differentiating that selection would certainly increase my frequency of visitation, so I could try some new things. Additionally, if they make some changes they should switch up the local wines and add a few more. Macari has already become the next Pindar, we can do better than that :) Overall this is a 3.5 Unilocal joint. A perfect place to grab a couple drinks, socialize with friends or incorporate as part of a date night. Keep up the good work!

Ate here with the wife on a Thursday night. Pretty empty and that should have been a clue. I ordered a glass of wine, which was $ 10, which was reasonable. We ordered olives, which were served cold(I know, nit picky, but they should at least be room temp.) Next was brie with raspberry sauce and walnuts with out of the box bread flats. Not bad, nothing special. We also got a bar pie(pizza) that was awful. Premade dough, icky canned sauce and some cheese, all undercooked and topped with a copious amount of spices. We ate some, mostly out of hunger. To our servers credit, she happily offered to remove the charges, and the situation was handled perfectly. We were hoping for better considering the previous recipes. N.B. you can order food from other nearby establishments.

The Wine Cellar on Main is quickly becoming, if not already, a Northport staple. The Drinks: — Fantastic selection of wine and usually two dozen beers available with 3 on tap. — $ 7 beers, and reasonable prices on glasses or bottles of wine. — Frequent specials on drinks, special nights like ladies night, and more. The Food: — In-house tapas plates, cheese, and bar pizza. All amazing quality and presentation. — Order full meals of varying cuisines from other Northport establishments like Main Street Café, Maronis, Rockin Fish and more. Small up-charge, and it’s delivered straight from the restaurant’s kitchen to your table. Simply Awesome. What a great way to dine. The Place: — Intimate, great ambiance, very comfortable whether at a table, the bar, or in standing room. — Super clean, hosts live music on weekends, and varying art on display for purchase. — Dancing, socializing, drinking, eating. And so close to the water in Northport village. Makes for an amazing night out. The People: — This is where the Wine Cellar on Main shines. They only hire the best. The owners, Lindsay and Mike, are great hosts and very accommodating. Always full of smiles. — The staff(Colm, Sean, Amalia, Kate, Brian, Dylan, Samantha, Brittany) are fantastic. Knowledgeable, attentive, friendly. And most of all attractive . Cannot say enough good things. I only wish it were bigger because places like this are where I want to spend my night out every single time.

This place is a ton of fun. The beer menu is great, as is the wine of course. The place has a really cool vibe, and you typically avoid the drunken morons who get into fights at Nappers, so this is a nice change of pace and a great spot to those who are looking for a night out without the hassles. The live music is always really good. The only downside is the limited menu, but the place isn’t huge so I get it.

If you know me, you know that wine bars that feature small plates are my thang and I make no apologies! So, I was already pretty happy when walking in and as I crossed the threshold, I was instantly in love with the way they transformed an old storefront into a dark & cozy den in which I was about to be dazzled by page after page of reds, whites and sparkling, cheese boards, and desserts. My parents were less than enamored, I’ll be honest. I felt bad about insisting on stopping in after our meal at Ship’s Inn, but how could I pass by a wine bar like this and not go in?! It was a quiet night. New Year’s Day, after all, so most people had blown their load the night before. Mom ordered Dubonnet and was pretty p/o’d that they didn’t have it. «Isn’t this a wine bar?» etc. I’m not really sure if anywhere carries Dubonnet anymore. I look at it like the Brandy Alexander: these types of Mom drinks are destined to have their day again, just you wait! They also don’t have coffee, her second choice. I think *that* is a lost opportunity. Get some coffee presses at the very least! After all, this is a killer place to come and get dessert and what goes best with dessert?(Don’t say dessert wine). That said, I’m not deducting stars because I really dig this place. I was able to find a reasonable glass of some Italian red that was delicious and we ordered up a bunch of desserts, including pumpkin cheesecake that is utterly DIEvine. The crust is more like a ginger cookie than pie crust and it’s truly incredible. I thought the whipped cream on top was kind of a weird choice, being that the cheesecake is decadent enough on its own. Another really awesome thing about the Wine Cellar: they give you abbreviated menus from neighboring restaurants so that if you’re looking for something heartier than a cheese plate or hummus and chips, you have that option as well. Can’t wait to return when I’m again visiting home!
