This place was awesome, the breads are beyond words. I hope they reopen again. There was a fire, two months ago.

Easy to miss! But look for the thatched façade! What a special treat. The food was well executed & full of flavor! You can sample plantains two ways! And, we mixed & matched seafood & chicken entrees. Either would be worth the trip! Plus, The ceviche appetizer is HUGE! Don’t miss a chance to sample a real slice of Central America!

Can I give 6 stars? This is our spot! When me and my wife want a nice dinner out, this is where we go. The food is absolutely delicious. It makes you wonder why other places can be so mediocre. Very unique and super flavorful here. Large portions. We used to bring our own bottle of wine, but I think they changed the no corkage-fee policy. We love it. You cannot go wrong here. #CositasRicas #Bangin!

Walked in the door and my family was completely ignored for 5 solid minutes. Both the waitress and the bartender went about their business and never even acknowledged us. We had been recommended to try it so we were both disappointed and offended at our treatment!!!

I been to cositas ricas a number of times in the past few years and this time is by far the best experience i had there. I will give it 5 stars based only on the dish i ordered. It was simply outstanding, the lengua guisada«cow tongue» was cook to perfection so tender yet so flavorful i never had lengua anywhere like the one i had today, cow tongue is a delicacy for obvious reasons many will find it gross and a dish that belong on andrew zimmern bizarre foods on food network but if you give this one a chance you will thank me later. I will only update my review because we order a lot of take our from here and every single time we order empanadas once we get home we find that they did not put them in there i dont know what’s going on but they should pay more attention this will be our third time not getting the order right after having the person repeat the order back to me and making sure the empanadas are in the bill and we been charged for no one has corrected the issue.

Great service and atmosphere. 5 stars all around ! Really off the beaten path. Food was excellent great portions and not that pricey for what you get. Highly recommended. I have eaten here before in the past but they have really revamped the menu and interior. Feels like a totally new restaurant. As soon as we came in we just sat ourselves and our waitress came over and took our orders. Food came out quick fresh and hot. Large portions and full of flavor. I ordered the bisteck a caballo. I was beyond full and enjoyed every bite. Best Colombian food in Norwalk!

We just had dinner here, and let me tell you, we cannot wait to go back and try more dishes! Bf had the bistec alla caballo and I got the carne guisada. Both were seasoned very well and tasted delicious! Portions were huge too! I wished I tried one of their desserts but I didn’t have room but there’s always next time–

I live 3 minutes away from this place and had never been. A total hole in the wall as I get my dry cleaning done 2 doors down. Went once with a buddy and couldn’t wait to go back. Less than a week later here I am, eating the same thing. Clean place, servers make you feel like you’re their foreign grandson(knowing Spanish helps). Nice ambiance. And the mullet/hey/hairstyle the restaurant has is awesome(you’ll know when you see it). Do yourselves a favor and get the nacho/toston todo. It will change your life. Its so good, it detracts from the bland rice and beans. Love this place.

I had no idea what to expect. I’d heard good things, but non of them did any justice. Epic, that’s the only word that can sum up how your meal will be. Bring a great bottle of wine and buckle up for dinner from one of the best places in CT.

My husband and I are food snobs: I’ll be honest. We were seeking good byob in Norwalk and were impressed by the good reviews of this place. And we were blown away by this place! We just came back from our first meal there and rest assured, we will be back for many more. We had the lobster corncake appetizer and it was utterly outstanding… the sweetness of the corncake, the richness of the lobster bisque, and the sharp tang of fresh cilantro expertly combined to make our mouths water and long for more. But we needed to make room for our entrees. I ordered the hanger steak… it was cooked to perfection. with a huge side of tangy flavorful mushrooms, a rich tasty sauce of shrimp and chorizo, and the perfect size dollop of perfectly seasoned fresh spinach. My husband ordered a smaller meal(which was very generous) steak, pork, plantains, avocado, a fried egg, perfectly seasoned … a unbelievable bargain at $ 12. The owners treated us like family, with warm generous service. WEWILLBEBACKANDWEWILLBRINGFRIENDS!

Now five stars is a little ridiculous but a solid 3, absolutely. Love the palm leaf awning. Love it. A touch like this makes you immediately know the proprietors care. Bakery items are absolutely delicious, especially the cheese filled breads straight from the oven. A treat us gringos don’t find elsewhere. I do like being the only blonde at places like this. It let’s you know something special is going on with the food. Love they are open for breakfast. Wish more hole in the walls were. Almost makes you feel as if you are in Miami. Nice full menu with different selections. Lots of tilapia dishes, arepas, plaintains. A great selection.

Little hole in the wall with wonderful food! Paella, fajita de pollo, plantains, rice and beans are yum! Authentic gem.

Tried a spanish resto and dont really have any idea what to get. Waiter approached me with a service as if he came from a culinary school which is very professional. He recommended me something which they just made recently and wasnt on the menu and what I got is like a steak with mushroom on it. It was good! after that it felt like I ate on a fine dinning lol Very good service which is actually hard to find in the US.

Had dinner Wednesday night. We started with Empenados, then each had Chicken dishes. The food was delicious, great service, very reasonable price. BYOB with out the ridiculous corkage fee. This is a diamond in the rough. I almost hate to share this spot, but they deserve good press. Steve Z

Don’t be put off by the sad, tiny strip mall. Inside is tidy and cheerful with tasty latin entrees and friendly service. Large portions, fresh ingredients, and a BYOB policy make this place a great value. We will certainly return, pronto.

Don’t. Very nice people but the food is not good At all. We read the reviews, yes, large portions but the food is poor quality and tasteless.

I’m new to this area, so Im trying all the Restaurants out here at least once. This place is situated next to the Laundromat I go to, and I was curious to try it One Sunday afternoon. They don’t have take out menu’s so I placed my order based on the menu they had hung up. Small place but very clean, Saw a few couples sitting down. I ordered the Large Chicken Soup and The grilled skirt Steak. Boy oh Boy! those were some BIG portions. The Large soup came w rice, beans, sweet platains and salad. The Skirt steak came w fries, rice, and salad. All in all it came down to about $ 20 bucks. My husband and I were so full, couldnt even finish the soup. All in all not a bad experience, Ill def keep it in mind when Im tired of ordering Chinese or Pizza. Its best to call ahead and pick up later.

How did I miss this place? Today driving home from the beach, I notice this palapa grass awning in the tiny non-descript strip mall behind REO Appliance. I said to my husband, «Wait — stop the car!» So glad we did… huge portions of delicious«Latin fusion» food(one of the owner explained they cover Mexico to the tip of South America). You know it’s good when you are the only non-Latin person coming in and out. A few tables(maybe seats 15 – 20 people max), but a steady flow of take-out on this Spring Sunday night. Our family of four started with the Picada Pequena — a heaping platter of marinated chicken, steak, various sausages and chicharones(pork belly goodness). We also had one of each taco flavor — grilled pork, chicken and steak on tender corn tortillas, topped with raw white onion and cilantro and lime to squeeze to tast… just proves good food doesn’t need to be all fancy to be delectable. For dinner, husband had fish with mushroom sauce. One son had steak ala brasa — enormous, pounded flat marinated grilled steak with beans, rice and tostones(green plantains, pounded flat and fried) mmmmmm. Second son opted for a «breakfast» dish — Latin steak and eggs. Both portions of steak were enormous. Honestly they could’ve split the dish. I had the special chicken soup — which I guess they only offer on Sundays… savory and flavorful, with yucca, potatoes, corn on the cob and cilantro and squeeze of lime. Clearly — we over-ordered. Could’ve gone with half of what we got, but we were pretty hungry, and everything was so good, we forgave ourselves our gluttony. Plus it was great to experiment and try out so many things. The young man told us that they are changing out the menu and adding new items all the time — he promised a paella soon! We will definitely be back.

Hole in the wall goodness!!! We first tried Bandeja Paisa which is a big dish of 2pcs flat steak, pork, egg, plantains, avocado, rice and beans… all for $ 10! Their grilled chicken is also amazing. They have a seafood soup on Fridays that’s good too. Their empanadas with their sauce is a must try as well. They have generous servings. 1 dish is almost good for 2. But if your a big eater like us, you will love this place. This is a small place with amazing food at a great price!
