Food was awful. Waiter was very nice Very pricey for Latin food Bland pork. Tortillas were awful. How hard is it to make tortilla chips if you have a fryer

Service sucks. Never in my life have I been to a restaurant that was out of so many items: wine, Bloody Mary’s & steak entrée. Res at 7:45. Drinks & apps came out fast but holy cow we weren’t served our entrees until almost 10:00. My husband ordered the pork carnitas. The server failed to bring out the tortillas. My husband mentioned it to our waiter who said he would go and get them but never returned. It was like pulling teeth trying to get our check. It’s too bad because the food was really good. We can’t get past all the issues the restaurant has. We will not be returning. Tierra, Get your shit together and fast!

Very busy on a Saturday night. Full house. Fill in chef turned out to be awesome. Very nice décor. Our food was delicious although it took a while to be served. Barbecue tacos, corn soup, excellent salads. Wait staff was very friendly and bartender made yummy drinks. Had coffee and dessert too. We would certainly return.

Hyped and overpriced. My expectations were high — from the reviews and from not being able to get a reservation the original night I wanted to go. The ambiance is nice, stylish, but it felt a little too serious, trying too hard to be cool. I tend to like Spanish restaurants that have a happier, less stuffy feel. The carefully groomed environment kept my expectations high about the quality of the food. On to the food. The guacamole was just OK, if not a little bland. Main course was good, pretty close to expectations — but I was expecting close to amazing, great — didn’t quite hit that mark. Not a huge rush to go back.

Great addition to westport! Love the guacamole & the halibut. Terrific spot for social yet cozy winter nights. Ps. The cocktails & wines are terrific

The food is authentic with a twist. It’s a really nice addition to downtown Westport. It’s definitely worth trying.

Had brunch here today. We had trouble finding the place — it’s been open for about four months now and it still does not have a sign(it’s located in the basement of the old post office, under Spruce. The door is on the side between the old post office and Restoration Hardware). We arrived about 11:45 am and it was empty, which is not usual for a restaurant in Westport, especially one with outdoor dining on a gorgeous day. The host/manager was on the telephone when we walked in and he did not even acknowledge us – the bartender seated us outside. The waitress was great and we have no complaints about her, and the host/manager did put the kibosh on the landscaper who started power trimming before we’d even gotten our coffee. We opted for outside because it was such a lovely day but also because inside it was LOUD even though nobody was there except for some people at the bar. Service was SLOW. We were the only patrons during our entire two-hour stay(we didn’t plan to stay that long!) yet it took forever to get our coffee(they make it with a French press — so do I but it doesn’t take me 20 minutes!) Well after the coffee — which is excellent — arrived, we got some corn tortilla chips(which are excellent) with some salsa(if you love cilantro, you would like this. Wish there were salsa options without cilantro, or at least without so much of it). We ordered the BBQ beef tacos as an appetizer, but they never arrived(it was removed from the bill). We had just about given up hope on ever getting our meal when it finally arrived: Eggs Benedict w/asparagus for my companions and grilled hanger steak for me. The Eggs B were as described on the menu and my companions enjoyed it, thought it was nothing special, they said. My hanger steak tasted good, though it was chewy. The eggs were fine. There was NO guacamole, NO corn tortillas, and the home fries were awful — barely cooked and not much flavor. We had to ask for salt and pepper — the food was not seasoned enough. The food didn’t taste like it was made by chefs with a good reputation — tasted more like it was made by an indifferent diner cook. Maybe it was since it was brunch and not dinner. For dessert, we shared the chocolate cake, which is more like a thick pudding than cake. It came with some vegan«ice cream,» which didn’t taste much like ice cream(didn’t taste much like anything) and should’ve been left off and served with whipped cream instead. The«cake» tasted pretty good, though it would’ve been better with some coffee that we badly wanted but didn’t order because we wanted to get out of there before dusk. The meal took nearly two hours — did I mention we were the only ones there? It was pretty pricy for what we got($ 15 for the Eggs Benedict and $ 18 for the Hanger Steak). Not sure if I’ll go back — maybe to try dinner, but it’s not high on my list. And maybe this place should do some advertising — I sure didn’t know it was there except through word of mouth.

Slow service but mindful attention to ingredients and albeit the lunch menu didn’t offer a lot of options what it did present was tasteful. The outdoor seating is unique in Westport with a historical flare and the indoor COULDBE hip and trendy but I’m not sold as it is basement level dining and few in Westport survive at that subterranean position. I’ll return for the kinks are being worked out and outdoor dining in the evening could present interest. I particularly recommend the soup as I had a corn chowder with pumpkin seeds in it that was divine! This time of year creative soups start to become king for me and this place is hitting the spot!

The grilled corn was delicious and the chile sauce of the pan seared scallops was spicy yet delicate. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and the amount of available parking is a bonus.

Have been multiple times now. Overall, the food is Ok, and OK should not be an acceptable rating for an expensive restaurant in any town or city. The menu does have some creative items but creativity needs to also stand out, and it doesn’t at Tierra. The restaurant is at «basement» level and is very noisy if busy. I won’t be back.

Had a wonderful meal here last night. This restaurant is still working out some kinks in the service department or I’d have given it 5 stars. Shared a few appetizers — the chopped salad was exceptional, the kale and hearts of Palm salad was good, but not memorable, the tuna ceviche was good but a touch bland, and the lamb arepas were pleasantly flavored and crisp. The entrée was the real star though. Abuelas pollo a la plancha was half a chicken deboned and grilled perfectly and served over moist and tender plantains with a delicious salsa. The waitstaff while very knowledgable and eager to please seemed disorganized and disoriented at times. One appetizer was not brought out until after the entrees had already appeared and the wait for one glass of wine was about 15 minutes. But overall it is a very welcome addition to Westport. I hope to go another time or two before it gets so popular you can’t get a table anymore.

My first Unilocal review! This was the real deal… good food, great service! I am a pretty good home cook and I can be critical of restaurant food… this was great, interesting flavors and combos… we will go back again. We have many choices in this area and I say this is a keeper! Clare C.

Friendly ambience, good service, and tasty food. Management went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable dinner: when they heard that we were slightly unhappy with one of our entrees they comped it and a glass of wine. That level of attention alone warrants a return visit.

We had a great meal at Tierra on July 4th. We were warmly greeted by the staff, and the service was excellent. Sue Torres, the chef and co-owner, made the rounds and chatted with us which was really nice. Some the dishes we ordered were the guacamole with homemade chips, Panko crusted oysters, BBQ beef tacos, Abuela’s Pollo a la Plancha, Achiote-Rubbed Bronzini, and a great chorizo grinder. We ate a lot, and everything was really delicious. The place has a cool vibe and a nice bar as well. Oh, and the cocktails — very good. We will return!

Pleasant ambience in basement of old bank, Town Hall. Service somewhat erratic. Menu interesting but dishes didn’t live up to expectations. Scallops were excellent. Guacomole was bland and dry. Almost all choices needed more spice. Wine list good. Hope they get it together. Will probably give it another try, but they need to improve.

Went there last night, and although it was pretty empty, I’m really hoping word gets out and people start going b/c everything was so great! The food was fresh, had great flavors, and we really had no complaints. Although the restaurant was slightly tucked away, it has the potential for a great atmosphere, especially once the outdoor seating is completed. The kale & hearts of palm salad was different than anything I’ve ever had, and was one of those salads that I will crave — I don’t think they could’ve done anything to make it any better. We also got the shrimp enchiladas special as well as the pork carnitas. Both dishes were really great — as well as the cocktails we had. The chef, Darren, even came out to greet all the customers there and check in to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Great experience — I’m glad Westport now has a really good Latin American restaurant(you can’t compare it with Bar Taco b/c it’s just not the same type of restaurant) — we will definitely be back soon!

Amazing place tucked into the old town hall building. Everything was fantastic and the wait staff was very friendly. We started out with the fried oysters and guacamole. The guac was excellent but the oysters were RIDICULOUSLY delicious. By far the best oyster dish I have ever had. My wife had the salmon special which was cooked to perfection and I had the pork carnitas. Both very good. We also had the mexican corn as a side and the key lime pie for dessert. This place recently opened but you wouldnt know it, they are very well put together. Highly recommended.
