The best service in town and the most kid-friendly yet still hip restaurant you could imagine. Food is great too! Only complaint is that cocktails, wine and water are all served in the same kind of glasses and it’s hard to tell the difference between white wine and water in the dim light — dangerous when you have a crowded table with adults and kids.

Their shrimp tacos and guacamole are really good. i enjoyed the selection of drinks as well as the atmosphere. Definitely a great place to go after a long week at work, and hang out or network in general.

Good, fairly priced food and good drinks(albeit expensive). If you like to get your drink on a Friday or Saturday(or a Tuesday, I won’t judge), your tab will creep up rather quickly. I’d suggest calling ahead since the waits can be long during peak times. My go to tacos are the chorizo, the pastor and the pork belly. Rice bowls are quite tasty as well. For dessert, go with the churros, you won’t regret it. This time I had a caipirinha with orange in it and it was quite good as well. Can’t wait for summer when the patio opens up and we can hang outside on the water.

My wife and I were in the mood for going out but couldn’t figure out where. We’d not been to Bar Taco Westport in awhile and thought it was good food and close to our house. We got there and were immediately seated. We ordered guacamole off the kids menu and it came out almost immediately. It kept our 15 month old occupied. It was very good without the spices. We ordered our main dinner and ordered a quesadilla for the baby. It came out first and again kept the little one occupied. My wife and I ordered the following tacos: Baja Fish, Portabella Mushroom, and the Fried Oyster tacos. I thought all were amazing. I also got the mushroom tamale. Again, so good. They changed the menu so that more things are Gluten Free and it’s made things so much better. We were both able to enjoy the same food(some of which was fried!!) which is a very rare treat for someone with Celiac disease. Kudos to the chef and management for taking those extra steps to make an enjoyable dining experience for everyone!

Bartaco is an upscale CT chain, well deserving of four stars. The family-style presentation fits perfectly with the laid back, beach themed ambiance at the Westport waterfront location. Specialty cocktails compliment any dinner, which if you’re a regular, includes guacamole, and that five star corn on the cob. Beware of bite-sized tacos if you come hungry. The $ 2 – 3 tacos can quickly add up since the portions are small. Although, the fried oyster tacos are well worth it! Great spot for a family, date, friends, casual dinner, or drink.

This place was awesome! Our server Myrna was super sweet and fun to talk to. We got a small tray and she picked out all different tacos for us. She asked us at the end what we thought of all the tacos and we got into a pretty in-depth conversation about which tacos we liked best. It was really fun because she was so genuinely excited to talk about the food and find out what our thoughts were. The food was amazing. Favorite tacos were the pork belly and the al pastor. Only downsides were that the tables were pretty tight, making it feel loud, and the service was a bit slow at points. Other than that, great atmosphere, great food, and lots of fun.

Bar Taco can do no wrong in my eyes. This location is bigger than the rest. The ambiance is always light and pleasant. The food is phenomenal, you literally can’t go wrong with any of the tacos(sesame ribeye & portobello are my favorite), shrimp or rib eye rice bowls, & the bar taco chopped salad are a must try as well. Oh and if you like spicy, order a jalapeño margarita … It’s not on the menu but you won’t be disappointed with how they make it :)

Slow service. Horrible guac serving size. Geronimo in Westport gives a huge and amazing guac appetizer for the same price go there

This place is amazing. Try a couple of falafel tacos with a pitcher of margaritas and you’ll definitely have a fantastic night out.

Best time to come for weekend dinner: SUNDAYNIGHT @ 8:30 Any other time, you’re in for a 2+ hour wait. Unique menu setup. Tasty tacos, gazpacho, duck rice bowl, spiced chocolate pudding. Grilled corn is to die for. Decent selection of mixed drinks. DONOT wear any sort of gingham blue/white button down & white jeans or you’ll actually be mistaken as part of the wait staff.(True Story) Outdoor area is quaint and is open all seasons. Kitchen is open until 11pm almost everyday, best bet if you want a low key dining experience, go later in the night.

I really, really wanted to love this place. And to be honest I actually do… I just don’t love their food. At least not as much as I love the food at BarTaco in Rye. There is a marked difference in the quality of the food. The corn, which I dreamed about, and which I ordered two helpings of, was hardISH and somewhat cold. The one in Rye is a perfect consistency with the Cotilla warm and savory. The Baha fish taco was hard and not very tasty. My chicken one was pretty good. I also throughly enjoyed the stewed peas. Beware they COVER everything in cilantro. Did I say cover? I mean drown YUCK! My kids were very happy with their food: quesadillas and duck tacos. My daughter actually said the duck tacos were amazing. Our server, Steven, was wonderful. He got them .75 stars. And the fact that you can check in over the phone gave them another .25. But I think I will stick with the location in Rye. The manager just came over as I was writing this review. He was not pleased that I said my food was just ok. He would have preferred if I had said something at the time. I didn’t want to be a whiner. Ok Mike you’re awesome! I’ll be back, but the Rye spot is still my first BarTaco love.

Popular local location on the Saugatuck even on a drizzly November evening at 8pm Good all around location for groups, families, dates and business travelers who sit a the bar As a sole business traveler, staff was friendly and attentive and ambiance was lively(some would say loud) Ceviche…at $ 7 a great starter, lots of red onions, avocado and cilantro. fish was very tasty but expect small amounts of fish Tacos are a deal…$ 3 to $ 3.50 for most of the tacos on the menu. I sampled 3 — pork, portobello with queso and baja fish 1) Pork belly… sweet with pineapple, taste could rachet up a bit 2) Portobello with queso. yummy– of the 3 tacos, this was my favorite. The mushroom and queso cheese was an enticing combo — I would taste this again 3) Baja Fish. pretty typical fried cod but coleslaw was tasty

The food was nothing special except the cheese and lime covered corn. My girlfriend and I tried 8 different tacos and none stood out as anything from I’ve another, the clan had no taste, not there shrimp, duck, chicken, pork or beef The churros had little to no flavor and all they offer is a tasteless chocolate dipping sauce, really could’ve used a glaze instead. Won’t be back, very blah

Three of us absolutely loved it here. The food is simple and fresh and delicious. And the cocktails are amazing. And the staff were so super-friendly /warm /charming /accommodating, and even very nice to my dog(who had to sit outside the restaurant barrier for sanitary-hygiene, which is fine since it’s a safe calm area). And boy oh boy is the view gorgeous, which is, thankfully, enhanced by the aforementioned aspects… I really can’t wait to return for a plate of Sesame Ribeye and a few Old Thymers!

First time here and we LOVEDIT! I can see this as becoming one of our new go to places. I would have given 5 stars but I had a couple little issues. One, I found it to be a bit loud and had a hard time hearing each other and the other being that the tables were too close together. With that said it certainly won’t stop us from going back. Our waiter Gabriel was wonderful. Now onto the food, please know that all the tacos we ordered were a bit spicy so if you don’t like spice I suggest you talk to the waiter before ordering. We like spice so no problem for us. Here’s what we had TACOS – Rib eye steak taco, cauliflower taco, chorizo taco, baha fish, chicken taco, falafel taco. All were awesome and I would order every single one again. All were priced between 2.50−3.50 each Appetizer– large guacamole and chips. Some really good guacamole and I would order again. $ 9.00 Sides– chipotle Cole slaw. I’m not even a fan of Cole slaw and I could have licked the bowl clean. Corn– can’t remember exact name but it was delicious. You can have it on or off the cob. Dessert –churos a a chocolate sauce, ah just ok. Probably won’t order again. Chocolate gelato– very rich and thick. I would get it again. 3.50 Drinks– margarita, one of the best I’ve ever had Port Chester … Can’t remember the full name but u will see it on menu if u look for Port Chester– damn delicious!!! I coulda drank these all night. Drinks were $ 10. Each and well worth it.

Love this location, right on the water! Sitting outside would’ve been so nice, but we came here on a Friday evening around 8 – 8:30 = MISTAKE! This place is crackin so if you’re not willing to wait, I’d suggest coming way EARLIER because there was still a wait after us when we got in around 9:30. They take your number down and text you when your table is ready. BUT, COOLTHING is you can click on a link that tells you how many people are ahead of you! So you can plan accordingly. We walked across the bridge and roamed around the town even though all the stores were closed already. I love how they decorate the inside of this place. Nautical themed and the couch booths are comfy with cute pillows. You can see all the tequila choices above the bar too. and damn do they have A LOT. Tacos are either $ 2.50 or $ 3.50, depending on the filling. SOMANYCHOICES! We also got chips & guac and salsa. Nothing special though, so I’d pass My favorite taco was the baja fish. I could probably eat 5 of those. 2nd favorite was the pork belly. I like how each type comes with different toppings, depending on what meat you choose. love DETAILS! Another thing to consider– REALLYSMALL! You could probably eat them in 2 bites if you have a big mouth lol I was at a good point with 4 tacos and the chips. But we just HAD to get the gelato for the insta pics. sighh their presentation with the cone holders was just too good to pass up. Left feeling stufft

So. I want to start this review by saying that for the longest time I refused to go to bartaco. I had a terrible experience there a few years back and it just put a bad taste in my mouth. I swore I would never go back… and obviously, this has seriously changed. So, I eat my words. I can admit when I’m wrong(finally!) I gave in and agreed to go on a date night here. First off, I’ve always enjoyed the location, right on the water. We had a short wait… but the bar service while waiting was super friendly and the margaritas were definitely tasty. Once we were seated, I took a look at the menu… and realized I was complete idiot for refusing to go here for so long. I can eat 95% of the menu and the chef is actually an old favorite from past restaurants I enjoyed(miss that burger at Harvest Supper…) On top of that… they have a fried oyster taco that is Celiac safe. FRIEDOYSTERS. Since my diagnosis, this has been one of the biggest things I miss – fried seafood. The fact I can get them here(and they are delicious!!) is amazing. The guacamole is awesome, as are the chips(which are fried in their own fryer!) The street corn and black bean salad are killer, too. Besides the oyster, the pork belly and duck tacos are my go tos. Service is always very friendly and you can’t go wrong with any of the drinks. The patio is also kick butt for a social scene. I now eat here a few times a month… I’m seriously kicking myself for being so stubborn and idiotic for so long!

Really great restaurant right out of the shopping district in Westport. I’ve been to the one in West Hartford and I have to say they are about the same. Great small plates and an atmosphere that encourages conversation. Everything is great to share, from tacos to guacamole to the grilled corn. Drinks are especially tasty. The food is also on the simple side so its great for kids. Service I thought was a little slow, with food and checks a taking longer than expected to come out. I think this is because of the casual atmosphere thats supposed to encourage conversation, so it was nice not being rushed out of the restaurant.

This place was good. I went with a friend on Friday after work. We were seated promptly. The crowd was a little weird; lots of tweens/teens and then older couples too which was not what I was expecting at a happy hour time in a bar type place. Our server was very nice and attentive. He quickly came over to tell us how the ordering worked and took our drink order. I got the regular margarita which was delicious. I hate when they taste too lip puckeringly sour but this was a perfect balance and really light and fresh. My friend got the jalapeño infused one and she loved it but they put paprika on the rim. Who wants a mouth full of dry spices when they are taking a sip? Once she got a straw it was way more enjoyable. We ordered a few tacos, guacamole and the roasted corn. The corn came out at lightning fast speed, making me wonder how long it was sitting there since it wasn’t particularly hot. It was very delicious and flavorful though. The guac and tacos came out not 5 minutes later. I got the chorizo and ribeye which were both very good. My friend also got the fish one, which she was a little bummed it was breaded and probably fried. The menu definitely needs some descriptions of what’s on each taco and how it’s prepared. And if you don’t like cilantro, look out! There was a whole bunch on each taco. I like it but had to take a lot off. Overall the food was really good and full of flavor. I just felt like were being rushed in and out.
