By far my favorite for over 10 years, glad they’re closer and in Westport now too! Nachos and the gourmet burrito are my go-to. Inexpensive and unlike other Mexican carry-out places you don’t pay extra for chips and salsa. Nice staff and fast service.

Listen, it’s just not MY thing. I’m sure others dig it. Here’s the thing, conceptually it isn’t how I like to dine. Example: if I go to Chipotle I know exactly what I’m getting & I’m not going there for the ambience, I’m not going there to eat in, I’m going there to grab a relatively healthy Mexican style lunch to go for a good price. And I typically don’t like fast food Mexican(I have my exceptions). And I hate eating off of Styrofoam or using plastic utensils. If you’ve spent any time in San Diego or anywhere in Southern California for that matter, fish tacos can be purchased practically anywhere inexpensively with authentic housemade corn tortillas, lots of lime, cilantro, & an abundance of avocado and they are excellent! So right away my standard is high. Negatives: They don’t double up on the corn tortillas — which is very traditional. I didn’t care for any of the salsas– I think there’s probably five on the salsa bar. Average margarita. The guacamole was very salty. The black beans and rice were literally tasteless. And for a Wednesday evening they had the Latino music blasting which made it very loud. Positives: Both the grilled mahi-mahi and the fried fish tacos were very good w fresh avocado, crunchy cabbage, nice crema. And I liked, on the complimentary salsa bar, was the traditional Sliced carrots, peppers, onions, fresh bay leaves & oregano all marinated which was excellent and not out of the can. The interior is modern w some traditional Mexican décor, it’s a brand new renovated space, & very clean. Prices are very reasonable. Ample seating. Extensive menu. And very friendly service.

Came with a small group(4) and we were treated like royalty. It was obvious that they were invested in our meals and our happiness. The food came out relatively quickly and everyone was happy. I had the Cancun Shrimp Burrito. It wasn’t bad, and I would order it again, it just wasn’t exceptional. It was nice to have the variety of salsas especially to pair alongside the Queso Fundido(add the Chorizo, it was worth it!). I’d add an extra star if you aren’t looking for the most robust flavors. From a Mexican-ish joint I’d expect a little more flavah.

I like a good quality, casual and quick taco place. That what this is. Great place to being the family and overall, a great quick meal out. Priced right too!

The food is fine — it’s fast and not expensive but whenever we get takeout, we get home & they’ve forgotten something we ordered. Really. Annoying. We’re not going to drive all the way back to get it. Better system and supervision needed.

Great Mexican! They have a salsa bar with about ten different salsas. Great prices. They serve cervesas, too!

Just yuck. Not the same as Fairfield. The staff need to get a grip and not touch their hair behind the counter while preparing food. I’ll go somewhere else.

I have no problem with counter-order style joints but if you’re looking for a sit down, full service dining experience this isn’t exactly the place to go. That being said — when my fellow dinner-goers and I walked into Señor Salsa, we decided to go somewhere else simply because we were looking for a different dining experience. While getting back into the car, the manager chased us outside to ask why we were leaving — extremely uncomfortable. There’s no law that states«if you walk into a restaurant, you must stay and eat». My friend felt forced to accept this creepy managers request to come back inside and eat — again, NOT okay. The food was mediocre but nothing can make up for the manager chasing people out of the front door. The whole experience was awkward — ordering, eating and all. The manager should concentrate on making the customers already eating in the establishment happy — not chasing people out to their cars who clearly do not want to eat there.

UPDATE: 7÷9÷15 I finally decided to try on of their frozen margaritas. It was DELISH! Got the frozen mango with no salt — and no regrets. :) ORIGINALPOST: We waited a long time for this location to open… it was supposed to be La Salsa for years, and that never materialized. When we finally saw that Señor Salsa was open we HAD to try it. Now we’re there at least every other week, and have yet to be disappointed. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the service is fairly quick given that they make a lot of the food to order. The salsa bar is awesome — super fresh and tasty. Our favorites are the roasted tomato, salsa verde, and avocado salsa. I think I’d be happy if they gave me a gallon of the avocado salsa and a straw! As far as food goes, my hubby loves the El Champion burrito — which is good for a champion appetite… it’s huge! He also likes the breakfast burrito with chorizo. The sausage is perfectly spicy. The Cancun shrimp burrito was my favorite of the burrito choices. The quesadillas are gigantic! Our favorite is the fajita quesadilla with shrimp. The chipotle tortilla is tasty and the spices they sprinkle on top add a little zip. I’ve had the fish tacos — both the Baja and Sonora — good, but I prefer the Baja shrimp instead. I tend to stick to the Fiesta Bowl with shrimp(sense a trend here?) — lots of shrimp and veggies with rice and beans. Our last trip there I finally tried the tamales. I was not disappointed — they were delicious! I especially liked the poblano cream sauce on top. There are plenty of beverage choices. They serve alcohol, but we usually just get iced tea or a soda. Basically — we’re really happy to have this option nearby. Fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. Way better than Qdoba, and I’d take this over Chipotle for the variety and quality of the food — especially the salsas. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already!

I read fantastic reviews about this place and was really excited– what a disappointment. I got a quesadilla and shrimp salad to go. The quesadilla was bland at best. The salad had few toppings and the shrimp were minuscule and gross. Do not recommend!

Awful… The food was terrible. They ask you if you want rice and beans but they don’t let you know it’s extra. They put fish tacos on flour tortillas not corn tortillas(who’s the chef?) the guacamole was pre made so it was not fresh and more of a green grey color. We gave it a shot… And no thank you… you can drive about a mile away and eat at Bar Taco for around the same price(maybe 5.00 more) and eat awesome tacos like(sesame ribeye and pork belly and fried oyster) and get fresh guacamole … I’ll give it a year and it will ll be closed!!!

This review isn’t really about the food, it is about the service, and I’ve been going to the Senior Salsa in Fairfield for years. I was optimistic when the Westport location opened because it is much closer to my house. The first time I went for dinner they had just opened that week, so I was OK with a little chaos. The chicken was under-cooked, they gave my daughters beans instead of rice, and it took a REALLY long time for the food to get prepared, but I figured they would work out the kinks. The next time I went a few weeks later for lunch everything was great, just like in Fairfield. Then I didn’t go again until a month after school had started and took my family to dinner. They gave me the wrong burrito, after a bite I went back and they told me that was the burrito I had ordered, and that I would have to pay more. When I showed they that it was not the one on the receipt they fixed it. I left with a bad taste in my mouth about the experience. Therefore, I stayed away for a few months. Tonight we called in the order and my wife picked it up. When she got home, they had forgotten a burrito completely. When I called, they told me to look in the bag, because it had to be there. Well it wasn’t Selina. I had to go back again to get it. When I did she handed me the burrito, No «I’m sorry» nothing, just«here.» This is TERRIBLE customer service. I asked to speak with the manager, and was told no one was on duty. I should have guessed by the employees laughing and goofing off behind the counter. The food is good, not great. I’m glad that a Qdoba opened just a mile away. I will be going there now…

Probably the best Mexican food in Fairfield County! Having moved from California to Connecticut a little over 3 years ago, I have been searching high and low for decent Mexican food. Yes, it’s «gringo-ized» but the food in fresh and delicious. If you’ve been to a La Salsa or a Baja Fresh, it’s like that.

Had take-out last night while up visiting family from Bergen County, NJ. son had menu and advised on faves: nachos(reg), Fresca Chicken Salad, Fiesta Bowl with Chicken & Steak and a Med. Guacamole with chips. Everything was awesome. great spices, dressing, etc. Be aure to have some of their salasa sauces especially one that was fire roasted and the fiery habanero !! Only issue was the guac was a bit salty. Portions large — son’a advice based on dinner for 2 however I’m sure he planned on leftovera — LOL. Wish we had a Senior Salsa in north Bergen County/Ridgewood, NJ area as it would be a killer. Spices/flavor combos all fresh and reminded me a bit of El Parador in NYC.

This is not white tablecloth service, actually there are no waitresses. Go to the counter, place your order, and it is quickly filled. Then find a table. The menu on the wall is a little confusing [do you get beans and rice with your dish(no), when indicated are the beans and rice on the side or incorporated in the dish(sometimes)]. I had the Quesadilla Grande and wanted beans and rice on the side but they were part of the sandwich. I wouldn’t have ordered that if the person taking orders had listened to my question about the beans and rice on the side and explained it correctly. The Quesadilla was bland for my taste even though I asked for it medium hot. A squirt of hot sauce was in one little bite of the Quesadilla, the rest had none. There are additional sauces on a counter in the dining room, there is nothing on individual tables to add to your dish nor anywhere else in the bar where we sat. A highlight seems to be the salsa bar. Lots of different ones to choose from and they were tasty. I actually added some to my bland Quesadilla. However, the chips that come with the dishes are also bland and uninviting. The little hand full that came with my dish were broken up and so unappetizing that I had only a few(chips are one of weaknesses and I usually devour them). This self-service restaurant is a great place for families and there were many of them in the large dining room when we were there. With fast service you have less antsy kids. However, there is a bar section where adult groups gathered. It’s much quieter and well removed from the kitchen/dining room. It is BYOB as I write this but they are getting a liquor license and have some great drink ideas in mind. They have done a great job of turning this neighborhood bar/restaurant into an attractive Mexican self-serve. Maybe this new eating spot will work out some of their bugs. Prices are fair, delivery speed is excellent, atmosphere is good for a variety of people, and staff is friendly.

Hallelujah! Senior Salsa is now in Westport, CT. I’ve been going to their Fairfield restaurant for years. As an Arizona and California native, it’s been a challenge to get authentic Tex-Mex. Most Yankee Tex-Mex must have Puerto Ricans cooking. Looks like the real deal but flavor not what it’s supposed to be. Not the case with Senior Salsa. Their food is the real deal. You can tell a good Tex-Mex restaurant by the quality of their chips, salsa and guacamole. Senior Salsa not only has that perfected, but all of their food is outstanding. I’m very partial to their Tamales. My son loves the El Champion Buritto(large enough for 2 people) and my wife only orders their chicken and fish tacos. The other big plus is the brand new décor. Their Fairfield location is a bit of a taqueria with all that connotation. But the Westport locale is new, more upscale, and has a bar that will be opening soon. If you have been suffering from bad Yankee Tex-Mex, come taste the real deal.

Went here for the first time a few days ago. Walked in and didn’t expect the«fast food» type set up. Reminded me of a Chipotle meets Sierra Grille. I got the señor taco salad. It was delicious. Lots of toppings and the salsa bar was great. Many choices that were tasty. The avocado salsa was amazing. Prices were reasonable and was able to get a beer. Only complaints are that the guac was a little salty and the salad needed a citrus/dressing. But that can be overlooked. Would definitely go back.
