I continue seeing rave reviews for Rincon since my last visit a year ago. My first time having tacos here was so-so, not something I would say ‘wow. i gotta come back here again!’. With all the glorious reviews, I thought I should give it another try… maybe I missed something. Went in early for lunch, felt like I was transported to Mexico. I like its casual atmosphere and friendly service. Menu didn’t change much, but I noticed they got rid off 3 tacos/$ 102 tacos/$ 7 options. Now each tacos will cost you 4 bucks. A little steep for a tiny taco if you asked me. I got myself fish and pork tacos. Rice and beans as a complimentary starter was good. I enjoyed that. Tacos tasted fresh, but lacked of an authentic Mexican taste that I usually get from the taco truck in Stamford. After finishing the tacos, I’m still perplexed to why other people think it’s the best taco around. My number one taco still remains with El Charrito taco truck in Stamford. It sets such a high standard for me. If you haven’t been there, give it a try and you might understand why I’m not giving out 5 stars to this.

Have stopped here twice, and both times the food has been wonderful, no matter if it’s eat in, or take out. Menu varies according to «local grown», sometimes great surprises. Staff is warm, friendly, prompt and courteous. Was recommended by others who said, «the burritos are as big as your head»…and it’s true! You could easily feed two hungry people with one.

After moving back to the east coast from California, I finally found a Mexican restaurant that is just as good, if not better, than some of the ones along the central coast. Food: One of my favorite restaurants in Fairfield County. I wanted to go here for the tamale, but turns out they were out. I ordered two chicken tacos and was almost happy I didn’t get a tamale because the tacos were incredible. The pulled chicken was spicy and tender. The salsa verde and green onions added a great kick. Like authentic tacos, it came out on two warm corn tortillas. After my first bite I wasn’t even mad they ran out of tamales. However, I will be back again to try the tamale. I tried a bite of my mom’s burrito and it was just as good. Service: So incredibly friendly without being annoying. Both the man who greeted us and our waiter were very kind. We never felt rushed. We were told our food might take a while since there were previous orders, but our food came out quickly! Our waiter forgot to take off the tamale from our bill so we got a free dessert.

With many options in Fairfield County for Spanish food, its hard to imagine that another one can thrive. Rincon has certainly found its place in this scene. Operating more like a deli, Rincon has a small menu of just the basics– tacos, quesadillas stews and empanadas etc. They also serve a ridiculous burrito that I cant imagine is made to be consumed in one sitting. We go here often for tacos, 5 tacos is 20 and easily enough to fill two people up at lunch. I’ve also attempted to put on of those burritos down($ 12 I think?), which resulted in failure and a four hour nap. If there’s is anything, Id say the atmosphere here is set up for quick lunch or quick bite to eat, which is what they were trying to accomplish. Although they did recently get their liquor license, I wouldn’t plan on going here to hang out too long. While they manage it pretty well, they get very busy with limited staff at peak hours, so choose your times wisely!

I read about this place on Unilocal so I gave it a try. It’s location is in a unattractive setting off off Connecticut Ave. all I noticed was several Halloween store signs. After reading the reviews I do agree with the size of the portions(big) but the food fell flat. The flavors are not big, very bland. In my option to much cheese. It’s need more bold flavors and less cheese. I stopped for a quick lunch to go and waited about 25 minutes. I was the only person in the establishment.

Positives: The flavor is matched by portion: HUGE Everything is really tasty. And man, they certainly don’t skimp on cheese here ;) My grilled chicken quesadilla was good & more like a bigger personal pan pizza size. Perfectly crunchy exterior & the salsa fresco was perfect for dipping. If only quesadillas could be made w massive corn tortillas then life would be perfect. The burritos are super tasty and really big which is one of the highlights. Love the crunchy exterior rather than the typical doughy flour type. Negatives: The service is curt. Not super fast if your just popping in for lunch. Not inexpensive either. They actually charge you a «split» fee. Lame. Food is good but not rave all amazingness. I guess if one has never experienced inexpensive ultra fresh super tasty authentic Mexican in untouristy Mexico or in S California, then this would be more impressive. Clean, Sunny, intimate dining w tables and a bar along the wall. & ½ dozen bistro tables outside w zero view & awful Connecticut avenue noise & traffic. Tight awkward parking.
