Excelente comida, bonita decoracion, buena seleccion de comida, pero pesima atencion al cliente !!! la orden tomo mucho tiempo y las meseras no son agradables, y cuando ellas discuten, que lo hagan en el estacionamiento. 1 centavo de propina.

I really love this place. Don’t go here if you’re looking for fine dining. Go here if you simply want to have a good time. I celebrated my birthday here this year with 12+ people and they were very accommodating. I always check in on Unilocal to get a free Margarita! Take advantage of that! I love their chips and salsa, I can eat it all day. I also always love to get their chicken quesadilla. The interior is so cheesy I think that’s why I love it so much: an assortment of piñatas hanging all around, streamers, and hundreds of framed celebrities that are completely irrelevant to the theme. The musician seems to only know the same chords but it’s a fun time. One thing that left me and boyfriend very confused though: carrots on nachos… wtf. Didn’t give 5 stars because some of the staff needs some brushing up.

Solid basic Mexican food at a fair price. Good margaritas and nachos. Menu is limited to basic Mexican dishes. Food and plate are both hot. Service is friendly and attentive.

You forget how great this place is until you try somewhere else then your are continuously reminded.
You may not be impressed by the location of the restaurant but it’s worth the bland scenery.
The food is fantastic! Cooked the way you want Mexican to be!!! Everything is cheesy and yummy. They offer you bottomless salsa and chips while you are waiting. Their sangria is great!
There usually is a coupon you can use online as well… which makes this place even better.
Most nights they have an authentic banjo player singing some authentic tunes!
Don’t let the outside of this place fool you… once you step inside you won’t regret it.
We love Mexican food and try it almost everywhere we go. this is the best!

I used to go here a long time ago and the food was just average, but I went recently and got steak fajitas and steak quesadillas and they were great. The steak was delicious with lots of flavor and the guacamole was equally delicious. Will go back soon.

Terrible with a bad attitude to bat. I met a girlfriend here because she didn’t want to drive to Stamford to go to Riviera Maya. I was in the mood for fajitas and they have really great fajitas there.
She told me that this place had famous fajitas so no-​brainer right? Wrong. I don’t know if it was the flavorless chips and salsa or the very mushy unseasoned guacamole that turned me off or was it the waitress getting my order wrong twice.
I asked for steak and shrimp she brought me chicken and shrimp the first time and I told her no and she really corrected me and said that this is what I had asked for I never ordered chicken when I go out to eat so I couldn’t have ordered that .
Then she brought me steak and chicken which still isn’t the right order because you guys that I don’t eat chicken and when I corrected her she proceeded to argue with me and tell me that I did not ask for steak and shrimp even know me and my girlfriend both heard me ask for the same thing twice she got a very bad attitude went to the kitchen and probably had very choice words for us .We had to watch her thank God it was an open kitchen, otherwise I wouldn’t have trusted the food going back there with the bad attitude that she took the food away with.
She ended up switching servers and did not acknowledge us for the rest of the night I will never set foot into Rio ever again.
On the plus side the one-​star is for the delicious margarita I think it was the zombie margarita, that I had gotten for free because of this Unilocal app.

The food Is pretty yummy, but there’s nothing very edgy or extraordinary on the menu to rave about. The margaritas are all pre-​made and they taste fine if you’re into that sorta thing, but they taste fake. Definitely relying heavily on sour mix and less on fresh lime juice.
The service is what is annoying. It’s really hit or miss. Sometimes you are ignored for 10 minutes at the bar (when it’s empty) and sometimes they get to you right away. With so few options for reasonably priced Mexican restaurants with bars (that aren’t just little bodegas) people just keep going to Rio because it’s been here forever.

Sorry to say but just not happy with this place.
Waiter was just plain rude. Never got the order right. One of my kids never got his lunch after we asked 3 time .
Dirty tables and floors I didn’t want to look in the kitchen. Bad margaritas. No manager on site. Will never come back again!

Let’s start by saying that the energy in this place continues to be fun and entertaining. I have always had Rio in my mind as one of those restaurants where you can just go have a few drinks and enjoy the Mexican cuisine. However, my perception is changing.
Although the energy remains the same, the food has not. I ordered two different chicken dishes but unfortunately they both were tasteless. The chicken in the quesadilla platter didn’t have any flavor and the Tequila chicken resembled more a Chinese dish than Mexican. As a client who has experienced Mexican dishes across the country and in Mexico, I was highly disappointed of the dishes I had.
I hope this review can be used as a tool of reflection rather than criticism. I still like the ambience in this restaurant but I cannot foresee remaining a customer for too long unless Rio improves the A #1 element… the food.

Went for Cinco De Mayo! Food was good and prices not bad at all! They had live music and free props and giveaways for the celebration! Definitely loud and crowded… then again I think every Mexican restaurant was crowded on Cinco De Mayo! Will definitely check it out again on a less busy night!

Rio Border is the spot! Amazing food, delicious drinks, plenty of parking, big enough to hold parties, lunch specials under 10 dollars, and sooooo much more! If you stop over for lunch make sure to order the Carne con Arroz or the Pollo con Arroz! Both are equally delicious, pilled on a bed of rice, topped with 3 cheeses and roasted peppers, Hass avocado, side of salad and home made Pico de gallo, all for under 10 dollars!

This place is the best. This may be the margaritas talking but honestly you cannot get better Mexican food and service in the area. Plus the décor is hilarious and there’s even a mariachi at night on the weekends !

We love rio! Started off by a warm greeting then being welcomed back. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is consistently great and the fresh chips and salsa are excellent! We go for the beef and chicken chimichangas our favorites! Highly recommend this place and keep an eye out they have coops that save great $$!

Rio’s went downhill since my last visit. Our table was dirty when we sat down. The cheap and cheesy décor honestly is so outdated. We ordered 2 house margaritas and what I remember as being very good last time, just tasted sugary and watered down this visit. Furthermore, we both ordered actual dinners that were literally out of the kitchen and on the table in under five minutes, meaning nothing is prepared fresh, just microwaved. Service was lackluster.
I can’t justify returning with the other Mexican restaurants in the area.

Really not very good Mexican food. I’ve given it a few tries, but I just can’t justify it again. The food is rather bland and tasteless, mostly just re-​heated or microwaved slop on a plate. The only reason I can figure they stay in business is because their clientele doesn’t know what good Mexican food is…
All of a sudden the owner is coming on here and pasting the same rebuttal to every complaint (each of which echo the same). I guess it’s a final defense mechanism in anticipation of a failing business that is facing imminent closure…

My favorite Arroz con Pollo dish ever. The fresh food, and packed flavors are an experience every time.
They always start you off with fresh tortillas and red salsa complimentary by sitting down. You can order table-​side-​made guac and chips for a premium, or pay a tip to the guitarist that is sometimes there to entertain the guests.
The food is always excellent, and authentic as far as Mexican is concerned. Staff is friendly.
The only negatives for this restaurant is the ambiance. Though they have done their best with the space, they need to rip down all the cheap decorations, put the kitchen to the back instead of the front, and put the bar in the front instead of the back. There also needs to be a better entrance experience, through a host stand that is missing.
The food is amazing, the ambiance is dark and cheap. Still worth the visit for their authentic, rich food.
And they do take out!

My god the place is good. Good food, great place to have a good time. Ask for Carmelo. He is the manager and he will make sure your visit is as pleasent as possible. Amazing place.
