The best burger in town, no question — they are closed on Sundays and holidays, which I think is a bit bizarre but it proves they treat their staff well.

Best burgers in Marin by far. Flamed grilled so they taste like they came off a bbq. Very flavor able meat. Fresh taste. Atmosphere is just okay but this kind of place focused on the food and their food is great for a burger joint.

Amazing milk shakes
Good softie ice cream
Only thing I wish they would offer is bison burgers. Offering bison would make it even better.

Stopped in on the recommendation of some local friends, and the food here is absolutely delicious. The plaza where they are located is deceptively simple and quiet, but their menu is creative, using fresh ingredients, and the food is flavored and cooked with tender love and care. I had the slider & baby back ribs basket, and the meat was so tender it was falling off the bones. We heard that it is carefully smoked 14 (pulled pork) or 16 (baby back ribs) hours! The flavor was exquisite (beats my foodie sister’s favorite rib place in NJ), and the pulled pork slider on the pretzel bun was amazing. Yummy french fries, too. The only disappointment I have is that I live across the country from this place. I’m definitely going to recommend JJ’s to anyone I know going to Marin County! Service was friendly and professional, too. Are you hungry? You should go!

Now a semi regular take-​out patron. Burgers and fries are still awesome. I recommend this place to people all the time.
Service still has room for improvement. Executed well but lacking in personal touch and warmth.

This is my new favorite burger place!!! I like the burger with pulled pork in an onion ring. The pesto garlic fries are soooooooo good! Root beer floats are $ 2. There’s outside seating and every one working here is very friendly!

As a burger connoisseur, I eat a lot of burgers. It’s my go to order. After having burgers all over California, the west coast, and even NYC, I have to say that JJ’s is the best. Best meat, awesome bun, great fries with spicy seasoning. All around a great place with friendly staff. Not a fan of the strip mall location, but the burger is worth it!

I saw this place on Unilocal and reviews were good. They weren’t lying. I had the cowboy burger which was juicy and great flavor. The buffalo blue cheese fries were awesome. Definitely a burger stop that you can sit down relax because it’s going to hit the spot.
John was putting the dry rub on the brisket, getting it ready for the smoker. The tri tip reviews are enough for me to come back for that. But sounds like I need to get there early before it’s gone.

Love, love, love this place. We eat there frequently with our kids and we all think they have the best burgers in, well, anywhere! Great fries, too. The employees are friendly and helpful. It’s a small place with about six tables and they usually have sports on the two TVs.

I came to pick up lunch for myself and crew when we were doing a job nearby. The burgers were excellent I believe they use organic Niman ranch beef. I ordered the California burger very good portion the produce was fresh and the food was ready in under 10min. The staff is really friendly.
All in all a great burger place. I would definitely return for another burger 5 stars!

Good burgers. I’ve been on the hunt for a good burger in Marin and JJ’s is close to the top of the list for me. The fries are good too but I usually go for the tots. I know they’re probably fresh out of the freezer box but I don’t care. The milkshakes are really good too, sadly I can’t consume all that dairy without severely messing myself up, but yeah I’ll steal some sips from my kids’.
On the downside, the BBQ is not good. The pulled pork was a mushy mess (too common in mediocre bbq joints) and the brisket was not great either when I tried it. All the bbq had a strong black pepper flavor — recommend sticking with the burgers!
This place is in a really burned out strip mall, but dont worr. Just man up and give it a try.

Great spot ! Been to lot of burger places around the area and Hands Down! this is the best burger joint I’ve been to. Fresh meats cooked to perfection with different choices of ingredients to make even you’re own style burger. The owner very nice man. Believe his name was John. We will continue coming here for years to come. Give them a 5 star all the way.

Awesome food that tastes great. Great Monday night staff! Got the Southern BBQ with sirahcha sauce to make spicier and garlic fries. Staff said they would add ghost pepper cheese next time if I wanted it even spicier since they sadly didn’t spicy bbq sauce. Will definitely come back again!

I have yet to try the bbq or shakes. Fries are a bit salty, I might request no salt next time.
For a counter service restaurant, the service is great! They gave my kid plain milk instead of chocolate (as she orig requested) and they noticed a few sips into her drinking the plain milk. They then gave us the chocolate in addition. Thanks!

My husband and I stopped by here after our 8.5 mile hike at Alamere Falls and were STARVING! I had bookmarked a few places, but we got done at 4 and none of the places I had looked into were open for dinner yet. So I went to Unilocal and found this place. Four and a half stars! They boasted fresh ingrediaents and the option of getting a grilled chicken breast instead of a hamburger patty whcih I dig as I am not much of a red meat fan (I know, I’m a weirdo). It had to be amazing!
So we pulled into the parking lot, which was a little run down. Honestly we almost pulled out again, but we found it at the back of the complex. We walked in and it was empty, but at 4 pm that is not that unusual. The menu was projected up behind the registers and I immediately gravitated towards one that had habanero jack and jalapenos. And they had a pretty impressive menu fof fries whcih you could also get over tots. I went for the buffalo blue cheese tots.
So our food comes out and the first thing I notice is the jalapenos have that grey-​green color of canned peppers. I wouldn’t have been so bummed if they had not made such a big deal about how fresh all their ingrediants were. Slightly limp lettuce and sliced red onion were also on top of a pretty meager looking chicken breast. The tots were not much better — overcooked with waaaay too much blue cheese and a super sparse application of buffalo sauce.
I asked my husband what he thought and he agreed that it was pretty unimpressive. Not bad, but not somewhere we will stop again if we are in the area.

This was my first visit and I Unilocal’d this location. I’m not from Novato) out here for work) needed a place to eat and here’s my review. I got the southern bbq burger, fries and a soda. First and really only negative review is that I spent $ 16 including a tip for a burger, fries and a soda.
The burger was a regular burger with bbq and onion ring lettuce tomatoes and a pickle and to top it off some pulled pork that was obviously smoked. Taste was amazing, but was good, produce fresh and crispy and just over all ⁹⁄₁₀. The fries were fresh cut and lightly seasoned with seasoned salt ⁶⁄₁₀. They have a huge menu with everything from burger to chicken and smoked meats.
If you are in the Novato area and or want some really good smoked food, this is the spot. Just be careful you don’t spend too much money.

I really enjoyed that they used mixed greens instead of iceberg for the lettuce. They also use a really good toasted bun.
I’ll be back to try another burger in the future (I had the classic this time).

It’s all about the fries. Places like this need good fries. This place does. Not undercooked potato sticks.
Pulled Pork is good. And they build you pretty much whatever you want using the ingredients you see in the menu. Just ask. That’s pretty cool.
Give this place a try.
Only thing. They need to be open Sunday. Close Monday when I’m not in Novato!

The food was just alright for the price. I probably wouldn’t eat here again because feeding my large family of 5 was so expensive. I’d rather hit In n out and save $ 30.
