My family and I enjoyed our Mongolian experience. Lots of food choices and great service. I am going to nitpick over two shortcomings. While their prices have gone up significantly($ 16.95!) you generally get your money’s worth, especially with options like ribeye. However, I will nitpick at 3 shortcomings: 1) I had to ask them to refill the NY Strip steak. C’mon. It was Saturday evening and having one of their best options unavailable is unacceptable. 2) I had to pay $ 4.95 extra for a medium sized bowl of fried rice. Really? All of the ingredients are at the buffet. Why can’t I just make my own friend rice bowl? 3) The men’s room was not very clean. However, kudos to Mongolian on only charging $ 5.95 for unlimited kids bowls. Overall, it was a very good meal and we will return.

Went there this evening for dinner just as a spur of the moment as I had a free birthday bowl. The menu has changed and WOW have the prices charged. Thank goodness for the free bowl because our bill would have been $ 35 for 2 w/o alcohol! Not sure we will be going back anytime soon! The food was still tasty and they have some new sauces

I’m super disappointed in the huge price markup recently. I donno if it was psychological but the food just didn’t taste as good last time. I probably will no longer eat here, I’ve seen the price rise almost $ 5 in the past 10 years.

This place is ok, but it has potential to be a lot better. The cooks are friendly and cook the food Excellent(nothing burnt, charred, or overbooked). This location needs to stay on top of clearing tables as patrons leave. The food area however was kept clean. The manager on staff is very nice, but the wait staff needs a little more motivation and maybe a little touch up on training. My server was good, but seemed a little frantic by the number of tables he had.

I don’t go to Mongolian BBQ often but when I do I’m a big fan! The last time I was here was probably a year ago. Overall I’m impressed by the chain as a whole. Unlimited salad bar and unlimited bowls for $ 17. Not really bad when you thing of it good food, you make what you want, unique idea… I also think from the last time I was here the options have gotten bigger! More meat, veggie and sauce choices. The guys at the grill are funny and keep you amused while you wait for your food to get done. One thing I noticed(at all Mongos) is the actual server is usually not good. Unsure if it’s because they really don’t do anything other than bring you bowls and beverage refills or if they’re just bad at their jobs. In any case I like Mongos.

Just came from there tonight. The meat(rib eye) was tough and had a funny taste. The shrimp was in some goop and it seemed to take a long time to get my dinner cooked. When it came to the dessert we ordered cheesecake and we were told it was STILL frozen. I suggested that they use the microwave and defrost it. They did and it was delicious. The soups were horrible, one too spicy, the corn chowder, and the tomato basil tasted like tomato juice with Parmesan cheese. I probably will not ever return except for the cheesecake.

Very impressed with this place at lunch today. They honored a «dinner» coupon for lunch and that really helped me out. Very nice waiter too,(forgot his name) but he was very efficient, friendly and professional. I have been to several BD’s and this one too. this one is my favorite. Keep up the good work!

In town visiting for a wedding and really miss having these close to where I live. I really like this place. It was much cleaner than others have reported. The only negative was that the trading spoons for the sauces had spoons that previous customers used mixed in with the clean one’s. Not the restaurants fault the people were not able to figure out to put them in the trash. They switched them out immediately. Servers, speed and everything else was perfectly fine.

One of my favorite places. Have Tried lot of Mongolian grills in Houston like Genghis but BD’s at this location is by far the best. Put lot of eggs with your prep and ask for extra oil. Taste is great. I know it is up to what we give them but somehow their food tastes better than other Genghis from Texas.

Sunday afternoon… Server was pleasant. There were 4 out 7 tables in the front area were dirty from previous customers. They stayed dirty for our entire meal while we watched the manager, hostess and bartender chat with visiting friends at the bar. We had to walk up to bar to get more bowls and earlier to get napkins and silverware, the place was not busy but the staff was distracted. Looking at dirty tables of 8 wasn’t a pleasant eating experience. And from looking around at the other customers we weren’t the only ones. Been coming here for years but this pushed me over the edge to go to the many other choices n the area.

Been going to the one in Ann Arbor for years. This one is just as good and just as entertaining. I like all the new items they have been rotating into the stir fry bar, especially the meatless stuff(«chickenless» chicken strips) which my kids love!

The hubby and I went here for dinner last night since I had the BOGO birthday coupon. We had not been in years so we were both excited to go back. Well, it seems that the only thing that has gone up is the prices. HOLYEXPENSIVE! It is $ 13.99 for ONE bowl of stir-fry, and let’s be honest, an average person cannot pack that much food in the small bowls. I would not return without a coupon for sure. The food was good, standard stir-fry. The containers of ingredients were lacking in amount of food so it was hard to get more than a couple of good pieces of each ingredient. Overall, meh.

This location always seems to have HVAC issues. I was here in the summer and it their air conditioning broke and it made it unbearable. Last week when I was here their heat was broken and there was cold air blowing around the grill and the restaurant was freezing. Customers were asking to be moved to different tables away from the cold air and I ate with my coat and scarf on. The quality of meat in the stir fry line was disappointing and even though there was an employee refilling it while I was in line, I had to ask for more chicken to be brought out and waited a few minutes for that. Lunch was busy due to large groups and they usually only have 2 cooks working. Definitely plan to take a longer lunch hour when dining here on a work day!

I stopped in to this BDs Mongolian Grill because I’d come to Novi to hit Oishi next door on recommendation from a coworker. Unilocal indicated they were open, but they were actually closed for a few hours in the middle of the day and I wasn’t going to wait that long to sate my palate. This began the Delicious-Double-Adventure-O-Awesome! I had been to BDs locations before. They’re a chain, and fairly well-run but I’d not been overly pleased with the ingredients offered before, so I wasn’t hoping for much when I walked in. I was seated, offered a beverage(One of those Coke 100 Flavors things) and I went with a Cherry Seagrams(it was actually pretty yum). BDs Mongolian Grill has gotten much better. They offer Vegan and gluten free options and better ingredients altogether. The first dish had rice noodles, beef, scallops, baby Bok Choy, bean sprouts, habanero peppers, roasted red peppers, a mix of red pepper flakes, crushed peppercorns, garlic and a touch of rosemary and a tangy orange citrus sauce I went very light on just for flavor. This was spectacular! The second dish in the duo had chicken and calamari with roasted red peppers, Bok Choy, jicama, habenero peppers, basil tomatoes, and bean sprouts. Seasoned with a light peanut sauce, ginger, garlic, crushed peppercorns and red pepper flakes. Delicious! This in mind, and both of these two wonderful dishes fresh on my tongue… I’d say BDs is worth another look as they’re much improved over my previous recollections.

I’d give this BD’s 4.5 out of 5 stars. I have been for mongolian BBQ before but never to a BD’s, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I had signed up for their email club and got a free unlimited bowl(with regular bowl purchase) so I went with my parents for lunch today. Our waiter was great and when I told him it was my first time there, he explained how the process worked. I had two bowls and then was stuffed … and was surprised when the waiter then brought out an ice cream sundae for my birthday! Great customer service. For my first bowl, I tried the Mongo ginger sauce which was great, for my second I had the teriyaki which was just okay. It was fun to watch the cook make my meal, though, and I would go back to this BD’s again. The only reason I’d give this BD’s 4.5÷5 stars is because some of the meats were a little tough — the steak in particular. I might stick to the chicken and other meats instead next time. Lunch prices are $ 10.95 for 1 bowl or $ 12.95 for unlimited, also, and I think my dad said that dinner for unlimited is $ 16.95. Not a bad deal if you are able to eat a lot, but for me two bowls was definitely enough.

Mongolian BBQ. What is it? An awesome mix of buffet with cooking right in front of you. You go through and pick you meats and vegetables and put them in a bowl. Then you pick your sauces and seasonings and head to the grill. The cooks take your food and pretty much perform a show while cooking your food in a circular fashion. I have not been to this Mongolian bbq in about 10 years. I used to love it. The cooks were enthusiastic and fun. But now they seemed kind of bland and just making the food was their job not passion anymore. The ingredients while still fresh and lots of variety didn’t make up for the higher price or lack of entertainment value I had expected. The thing that really made me mad was that one bowl was $ 13 and then when she asked if I wanted another bowl I assumed it was the norm. It wasn’t until I got my bill that I realized getting«more than one bowl» was an extra 4 dollars and the server never told me. Oh well, I’m not from around here but definitely won’t be returning.

Have been coming to these places for decades, since the one opened in Royal Oak when I was a kid. This location always seems to struggle with service where I have not had the problem with other Mongos. Always very nice people, just unreasonably slow. Seems like it must be an operational issue. Any bar drinks are always exceptionally slow. Still, we love the food and concept.

Whenever I go back home to Michigan, I must stop at BD’s at least once! It was a great family meal with my mom and brother. We stopped in for lunch to fill our stomachs. We were greeted immediately and luckily sat right away. Usually there is a wait around dinner time so lunch was perfect. The restaurant was very clean with plenty of seating. Our waitress was over right away to get our drink orders. The servers always ask if it’s anyone’s first time visiting their restaurant. Within a few minutes our drinks were in front of us and empty bowls to fill with delicious goodness! If you don’t know how it works, you take your bowl up to the raw meats/seafood section. You are able to choose from steak, lamb, chicken, shrimp, scallops and more! Make sure to put plenty of meat in there as it does cook down. Then onto the vegetable section. There they provide many options such as broccoli, onion, peppers and many other various veggies! After you have the majority of your stir fry built, then onto the sauces. There are little cups next to the sauces. I think there were about 15 different types which means you can have so many flavors melting in your mouth. But wait! Don’t forget about the spices that are at the end! Cumin, garlic, fresh pepper and cayenne are only a few of the choices you have to add to your miraculous creation! Once you have your final masterpiece in your bowl, you take it to the large grilling station! The professional grillers are cooking around a large circular grill and manage to always keep everyones special meal their own. They make sure to cook the seafood or meat so there isn’t any worry for something being undercooked. I love that the back of their shirts say«We do it on a grill!». Funny! They plate your creation and you are on your way back to the table. Before you get back to the table, the waitress has brought out the white or brown rice(your choice!), tortilla shells and lettuce wraps. All of these accompaniments compliment any type of stir fry you decide to make. They also offer a soup and salad bar if you choose to enjoy them with your meal. The ingredients are always fresh and wonderful! There are usually two soups to choose from. I love BD’s. Everything about my experience there has always been wonderful. I’ve been going to their restaurants for about 15 years now… I won’t ever stop!

Who has two thumbs and used to love Mongo? This girl. Disappointing on pretty much every level. I even found the other clientele dining to be… well… trashy(yes, I realize this makes me come off as a snob but hey, I’m giving my honest opinion of my complete dining experience.) No plates at the salad bar. Only iceberg lettuce available.(I did like how they dice the veggies though). Service extremely slow. Took about 10 minutes for our drink order to appear. Not to mention, my drink was wrong and they were both extremely WEAK.(I got a margarita, hubby a sangria). The main«meat bar» had a lot of options, but it was kind of messy and some of the labels were unclear as to what is what. Also, they used to have the BEST sausage — whatever they are using now is not nearly as good — it’s very fatty. Our tortillas and lettuce wraps showed up about 5 minutes after we returned to our table with the stir fry from the grill. Our server was very personable, just not a good server. Another extremely annoying part of our meal? We sat outside, but apparently the owners of the Bora Bora Bistro next door find it also ok to sit outside and smoke cigarettes. I understand it’s a hookah place — but last time I checked Newports did not qualify as hookah.

So here I am, six months later. Have things improved? Sure. But when you consider my original review comes from simultaneously being ignored and the only customer there, even a kick in the pants is a step up. I mean… hey… at least they’re not pretending I’m not there. This time around, it seemed like there was overcompensating. «How many?» Three. «Okay, she’ll be right back. Have you been here before? How many?» Yeah. Three. «Hi, how many? Have you been here before?» Three. Yeah. «Okay, I’ll give you a minute to look at your menus. Have you been here before?» Yeah. Before contemplating the potential for this visit to be Kafka-esque, it was time to go down the food line. Platters of Tuscan Chicken, Fajita Chicken, and Chicken Chicken abound, with teeny tiny buckets of everything else. Most things looked reasonable, though I’d put some of the seafood items as squarely«questionable». Grillers clearly bored did a reasonable job, but seemed like they hated being there. I don’t need some over the top TGI Friday’s experience from the grillers but I don’t think using the word«surly» to describe them would be unfair. If you’re a fan of the food, this isn’t on my «Go to another location» list anymore, but I wouldn’t make a special trip to go to the Novi location.
