On a boat trip up the Hudson we stopped over in Nyack. Went into town and stumbled onto Spice of India. We have eaten at many Indian restaurants and this is way up on our list. The aromas of the spices as we walked in made in very inviting. The fresh made Garlic Naan and Roti with their flavorful toppings were almost a meal in themselves. I ordered shrimp curry and my husband had vegetarian & mushroom curry. Both delicious. We would definitely return and recommend to others.

Amazing cocktails! Came here to meet a friend and I definitely enjoyed my night. The décor was really pretty, alot of colors, you can see the Indian culture from the tables to walls. This place is good for a night out with the girls or even for an intimate date. Bartender was super nice and extremely knowledgeable of the food menu and of course drinks. He carefully prepared our cocktails to make it perfection. I ordered two sidecars, perfecto. My friend had a blueberry cocktail which I believe had vodka in it with lime soda and jam it was something else. it was so delicious. The margaritas are also a very good choice as well. I ordered two small plates from the bar menu just to get a taste for the food. Vegetable samosas and garlic naan. The garlic Naan was nice, warm and soft, garlicky. The samosas were huge, biggest I’ve ever seen. flakey, crispy, fluffy… good flavor but I wish they were spicier, not spicy enough. extremely mild. But non the less it tasted fine. Overall experience was a two thumbs up so I would love to come back and try one of the main dishes and indulge in some more cocktails :)

My wife and I frequent Indian restaurants and I was split between giving it 3 or 4 stars. Gave it 4 because while the entrees were just average, the Gulab Jamun and décor they completely knocked out of the ballpark. We ordered chicken saag and chicken biryani. The chicken was a little dry and while both were good, could have used more spices-and I don’t mean hot. The décor inside is very nice. A lot of Indian restaurants colors can be overdone or just«loud». It’s actually very romantic in SOI. The service was attentive. Dessert: Hands down the best Gulab Jamun we have ever had.

I came here for the lunch buffet with my SO. Really great deal — $ 13.95 per person for unlimited food. I had a little bit of everything and for the most part I liked what I had. The garlic naan was delicious! And for those who aren’t a fan of spicy food, none of the buffet dishes were spicy. The service was also excellent! Laurie was such a pleasure.

I had the Lamb Saag and my wife had the Lamb Boti. Both dishes were amazing. They spiced it to our liking. The place was quiet, waitress was really good. I’d recommend that place to anyone.

Best Naan bread I have ever had. I ordered the Tikka Masala which was also very good and served hot. We got a spot near the window, which was great. I really liked the ambiance as well. Restaurant is in great location. I would definitely go back.

Excellent food and drinks. Above average for Rockland County. We tried the salmon methi and shrimp both on point. Did I mention the drinks? The bartender is a talent and noteworthy for a Manhattan type. Must try love this place.

For the two times I have been here, they have earned every one of these 5 stars. The first time I went was with a friend, and the second time was yesterday, as a group of five. We set up reservations prior to make sure they were ready for a slightly larger group. The server that tended to our party was the same server I had the last time. She was intuitive and attentive, engaging with every table and made them feel like they were her only guests. I believe there were around eight tables seated, and she was the only server on the floor. She was so very knowledgeable with the menu, and was skilled enough to remember everyone’s orders accurately without needing to write them down. It was apparent that this was her craft that she took ownership of with pride. She was accommodating to our group, consisting of first-timers with Indian cuisine, explaining the contents of the menu with simple and relatable terminology. The food was exceptional. Every dish skillfully crafted, cooked to perfection, and not shying away from the restaurant’s namesake. The complexity and harmony of the spices chosen, the vibrant colors, and comforting aromas were nothing short of delectable. The ambiance had touches of tradition, with the colorful fabrics decorating the ceiling, the statuettes and portraits hinting of India’s rich culture, but somehow still feels very trendy, somewhat minimalist, modern, and not overly crowded or stuffy. Everything was just right with our group’s expectations, and an overall wonderful experience with nothing to criticize. Although this restaurant is very much out of my way, I will be coming much more often as long as everything stays the way things are. My dearest compliments to the server, the cooks, and of course, the Chef.

This is 3-star Indian food, but the 4th star is for the stellar bartender /mixologist, Steve, and what I presume is his chosen liquor selection. This hidden gem awaits you. Last time I was in, I had a vodka-pomegranate cocktail of some sort. My fiancé had a drink with ginger. I don’t get caught up in the details, I just know awesomeness. And this is it.

First time trying this place and I was very happy with what I got. We ate at the bar and the bartender was very helpful with suggesting options to try as it was our first time there. The servings are massive, I had two lunches out of my leftovers! And it tasted just as good warmed up later!

Dat buttered chicken DOE! If you aren’t too sure what to order the first time you come here, then get that. You’ll unlock new flavor palettes that you never knew your tongue had. The ambience is mad chill and the waiters are very nice.

I originally reviewed Spice of India a while ago, but I wanted to revisit it to just say that I’ve really never had a bad meal here, and the Indian food they serve is as good as anything I have gotten on Manhattan’s lower east side in «Little India.» It’s a really great place.

Spice is one of my favorite restaurants in Nyack – hands down! When I first moved into town, I was coming almost daily for the delicious comfort food and the fantastic handcrafted cocktails. Over the years, as my lifestyle has changed, I was pleased to learn that there are healthy ANDTASTY options to enjoy regularly as well. I sometimes find myself dining in(even if solo) simply for the friendly neighborhood atmosphere of both staff and customers. Places like this are truly part of how Nyack keeps its local charm alive! I highly recommend the lamb chops and a ginger drop martini.

I’ve eaten three times at Spice of India within the last month. Primarily because I’m new to Indian food and tired of my other food options in Rockland county. Two of our visits were on a Friday night. The place wasn’t very crowded but the bar was very festive. I’ve heard they have a lively bar scene and it was definitely on view that night. The mister and I shared the Aloo Bondi as an appetizer. I liked it… honestly, it was like basically and Indian knish… in a good way. For my entrée, I had the Butter Chicken. Not very original or anything, but I am new to Indian food and this seemed like a safe dish. I really enjoyed it and the mister said it was good compared to other versions he’s had. He had the Saag Paneer and said it was only ok. Not horrible, but not great either. He’s had a lot of Indian food so I will trust his judgement. Overall it was good and a nice option when I don’t want to venture out of Nyack.

We loved this place. I can’t say if it is authentic or if I would like it if it were. We took friends from the city here who come with gluten allergies and all sorts of fun food requirements that makes taking them out a bit of a project. They are also crazy foodies who love American-style-Indian food. They loved this place. Around Westchester we have had a hard time finding a place that takes the time to talk respectfully to our friends and to review the menu and prep options available. This place blew us away. Our server was fun and personable the food was delicious! Only gripe was the place could use some mood music. We are a jolly group and felt a bit apologetic for our rousing laughter! Again great food, excellent services– I’m IN~ Note: we went very early — we knew we needed the servers attention. A little planning can go along way!

Hands down the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. I eat Indian food at least twice a week and I have eaten some pretty bad Indian but this one… So I went to Spice yesterday because I heard it was good and the Unilocal reviews were pretty decent. I got the lunch buffet and had a taste of pretty much everything(chicken tikka masala, paneer saag, vegetables). They all tasted the same and unfortunately it was a bland, boring taste for each. I stopped eating immediately and went up to the manager and told her how awful the food was and that I couldn’t eat it. I offered to pay some of the buffet price for the plate I took, but that I didn’t want to pay the entire price. She then became really defensive of her food saying how they use all the spices and everything is fresh. I told her I eat tons of Indian food and this was the worst I’ve had(keep in mind I was trying to be friendly and constructive and had as soft a tone as possible). She then started asking where I eat and I asked her have you tasted your food and she said she eats it everyday day and loves it. So I said sorry I just can’t eat this. She was pretty pissed at this point and started to ring me up in the computer and then thankfully told me to just get out and never come back. I give one star because she didn’t end up charging me anything even though she wasn’t apologetic about it. Also, it was a buffet and not from the menu. Yet, I’ve had awesome buffet food at other local Indian restaurants. So technically they deserve zero stars. Your best bet is to stay away from this place due to horrible food/service
