This is a great place. The ambiance is good, the service was perfect and the food is outstanding. The downside is it’s a bit overpriced. Be prepared to spend a chunk of change. There were two of us. We had three drinks total, a sushi boat and two appetizers. $ 170 including tax and tip. That’s way above our typical total for a night out. Would only go once a year or so.

Went here for my birthday and it was also my first time coming to eat here, the building itself is new and nice. The wait was 45 minutes but they were busy so we just sat at the bar, and then we are seated. It was 30 minutes before a waitress came over and took our drink order. 30 minutes after waiting 45 for a table !! My boyfriend had gone up to say something to the owner about the wait and he didn’t even blink ! So obviously this happens a lot. The food took forever to come out there was only two waitresses in the whole seating area. Everyone around us was complaining as well. Thank god the food was decent or else that whole night would’ve been a waste.

Ate here once. Started off with Shrimp Shumai udon or miso. I forgot but it was delicious. Than i ordered like 8 salmon and eel sushi pieces. Delicious. Had 2 rolls left over. Will definitely come back. Service was attentive as well. Great place ! Oh yeah, the décor and ambience was cool too.

We’ve eaten here a couple times over the years… Always found the food to be fresh, well prepared, the staff friendly and inviting. BUT, last night we met friends for dinner and had a very frustrating situation happen that needs to be documented for people considering this establishment. My wife and I attempted to attempted order a Sashimi platter/boat and ran into a roadblock. The waitress couldn’t comprehend the concept of not wanting rice nor the idea of ordering off the menu. Listed on the menu was a «Sushi/Sashimi Boat» but evidently if you don’t want any rice with your meal… That’s a problem! It took three visited from the waitress, a chat with the maître d’ who then had to speak to the«Boss» to order a plate of ‘raw fish’ at a Sushi Restaurant… where does such a thing happen in the world?! Not only was this embarrassing for us and our friends… but disruptive to other guest at surrounding tables who were baffled by the spectacle that was going on. No one in ear shot could believe how difficult it was to put our order in. In closing, with so many dining option in the area, I’d say that we are not going to darken Wasabi’s door anytime soon.

The Goma Salmon has become my new favorite! The staff is friendly and well trained. The presentation is very artistic and the food is excellent! If you are not as hungry, try the Ceasar salad. It was not what I expected, but it truly exceed expectations!

The food and service were both very good. I will say, I was surprised to walk into the ladies room. It was supposed to be a single, but there were two toilets side by side — no divider. Very curious.

Went there the other night for the first time and was disappointed by the half-dead greeting from one of the workers. Barely managed a mumbled«hello…» as he grunted. Then the tuna sushi was not great; each bite gave me something stringy to try to get out from between my teeth. The miso soup was ok. I hate the black décor on the inside, and I don’t want to hear dance music at a sushi restaurant like it’s some kind of club. Never going back.

Wasabi. The name itself has something exciting about it. I picture the green logo on the menu and excited whispers coming from the dimly lit dining room. This hometown treasure has always been something of a treat to visit. Locally it has it’s own renown and you can often find people traveling from surrounding areas and even Manhattan to sample it’s delicate and delicious fare. Last Saturday at 7:30 pm we walked in expecting a typical wait. I was greeted by a frazzled hostess who explained the restaurant was completely booked until 9:00 pm. Oddly enough about a quarter of the tables were empty. As I was conveying my skepticism another host quickly interjected and we were seated almost immediately. I’m still not sure exactly what the issue was but needless to say it started the night off on an odd note. I was ready to quickly forget the seating episode and get down to business. Enter our waitress Sad Sally emitting an unapologetic air of despondency. I don’t know if she had a rough night, week or just a bad month but I am more than confident in saying she simply did not want to be there. Hey listen we all have been there, I can deal with a little dejection, in fact you can cry on my shoulder as long as my food is up to par. I did my best to lighten the mood but I think I made things worse sending our friend deeper into her pit of despair with every smile and quip I sent her way. To get things going(and boost moral) I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, all kidding aside it might have been one of the worst glasses of wine I’ve ever tasted. Our friend Sad Sally was willing to exchange it for another glass but informed me the wine list did not offer another Pinot Grigio. Oddly enough after penning through the list I found two others: /awkward… Anyway my second glass was fine and it was time to eat some food. Game on! I started with a seaweed salad that was absolutely delicious. The dressing was sweet, light and refreshing with a slight zing to it. The seaweed itself was delightfully crisp. All in all a great offering, and by far the best of the night. One of the appetizer specials was a Sriracha spicy tuna dish. I had the idea of having it wrapped it in a hand roll, which I didn’t anticipate to be a difficult task. After explaining my idea to Sally, and then convincing her how easy it would be to pull off she reluctantly placed my order. Unfortunately the roll itself was forgettable at best. If there was any Sriracha involved at all it did not register with my pallet. Not only was the dish it not worth the $ 17, it wasn’t even worth the time it took to persuade this downtrodden woman to place the order for me. Finally the Dragon Roll was boring sushi at it’s finest. I don’t even want to bore myself by writing about it. The flavors were bland and the amount of rice around the roll would offend a sumo wrestler in training. The rest of my party was equally disappointed in their meals. Over the years this establishment has been touted as one of the premier Japanese restaurants in the area. I’d say at this point the only thing left to that legend is the name. I will say I do believer Wasabi can still deliver some high end Japanese cuisine but the sushi is tired and left a lot to be desired. I am sad to say I don’t see myself coming back anytime soon.

Been here a few more times and i have no complaints. Ordered: Tuna tacos, braised short ribs, truffle gyoza, hot saki, and our favorite to date…***Black Cod *** and recently my husband revisited Nobu to compare the black cod and he said it was close, but for the price and taste the winner was… WASABI!!!

Disappointing experience. I have been going to Wasabi for about 10 years from NYC, either for a night out of the City or on my way back from a trip upstate. While having drinks one Saturday night at Confetti Ristorante & Vinoteca in Piermont(great spot) made a last minute reservation at Wasabi for dinner. We get there and are directed to sit at the sole table by the window in the bar area — separate from the main dining room. The table is fine as a last resort for someone who is popping in without a reservation but not when you’re going out of your way for an evening out. I told Joe, the manager cum host that we had a reservation and it turned into a debate over the«table.» We were eventually seated in the main dining after an unprofessional, bordering on rude, unapologetic exchange. The quality of the meal itself was for the first time mediocre — the rolls were okay but not memorable(we left some over); calamari was soggy; and oysters were small with a bland sauce). The cost of arguing with a long term customer? We have since tried Sushi Bada in Suffern after it came highly recommended(I had never gone to another sushi restaurant in the Rockland area). Sushi Bada, by the way, was very good. And I’m finding other great restaurants now in the area. So the food was not memorable, the experience with the host was. I’d go back, of course, but I just can’t say when.

Came here for the first time on a Wednesday night, and wasn’t sure what to expect. The ambiance was typical of that of an asian restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the truffle gyoza, strawberry sushi roll, and scallop appetizer(I eat a lot). Then I had the skirt steak special with tempura battered shrimp dumplings and sweet potato fries, which was absolutely delicious! For dessert I had BOTH the green tea cheesecake and the mochi. There was not one bite of this meal that I didn’t like. Our waitress, Mary, was fun and pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Looking forward to going back!

I hadn’t been here in years so while I was in the area yesterday I decided to have dinner and check it out. I remember never being disappointed when I’d go with my mom on our girls night out but I can’t say I was really impressed this time around. It was quiet when we got there around 6 business picked up by the time we were leaving. Service wise despite our server being nice we didnt get plates until way after our wasabi shumai arrived and then when it came time to clear plates it just didn’t happen. Also, there were flies it’s just gross and not appetizing to have to share your food space with flies. My bf enjoyed his rolls I just went with the passion roll for $ 20 I was underwhelmed but it wasn’t bad. I dont know that Id go out of my way to come back to town to eat here again.

Walked in at 9 pm on a sat night and it was packed! Lucky for us there was one open table. Nice hip ambience — there was Christmas decorations! People dressed pretty nice(feeling a bit out of place in my leggings… lol). Definitely don’t come to have a nice conversation cause it’s pretty loud. Waiter was a bit rude, but they bought edamame as soon as we are seated. It was doused in salt though. Just sitting in the restaurant and looking through the menu(too many rolls with weird names haha) — I knew it wasn’t going to be one of those traditional Japanese places. And they give you those cute dimsum silver tea pots when you order green tea. We ordered sautéed udon, uni, tuna sushi, and 2 wasabi boats. They give you soooo much soy sauce-it’s literally in a tiny tea cup. Food takes a while to come… make sure you ration off your edamame. The udon was really salty. Don’t get it. The uni was SOGOOD. The boats are hugee… sashimi is decent, rolls are okay-the rice is a bit funky-but the boats look good. The best thing on the boat was the soft shell tempura roll. I also ordered a tom yum soup(bad choice) — it tasted like miso soup with lemon. This is a good place to bring someone you want to impress. But the food is all right.
