Meineke Car Care Center

Went to competitor so car would pass inspection and was quoted $ 316. So drove straight to Meineke. Work was done for $ 160 and they got me in right away. The man working (think it was Chris) was friendly, atmosphere was relaxed (unlike highly stressful at other place) and just all around happy with the service! Would definitely recommend this Meineke to anyone needing exhaust work on their car.

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!!! Nothing but lies.
Called to get my new tires put on, told me it would be about 60 bucks total. So I drop off my new tires and car with them and doublecheck before I leave that it is going to be around 60 bucks, the employee says correct! Come back it’s 142 dollars for exactly what they told me would be 60 bucks. I get into an argument with the same guy who told me the price and all he can do is give me 20 off. I just let it go and pay but wasn’t happy.
I made a stupid decision to go back here for a safety and emissions inspection and they failed me. I asked for what they said my front lights were flickering. I’ve owned this car for awhile know and I’ve never, ever seen that happen. I baby my car so I know if there is something going on, they pull my car and to show me (all three worthless employees) and the car doesn’t do it. We get into an argument, I asked them why I should believe them when for years my car has never done this, not even once??? They started making up excuses and I told they are just looking to scam people so they all get offended and tell me to leave. Of course, this is only when they get caught lying and scamming people. Just do this please… DO NOT GO HERE!!! You will get RIPPED OFF!!!

This Location Is Closed — found this out after sending my car to the location in a tow-​truck and show up the next morning with no one at the location anymore. My car the only one in the lot… The sign is still up though!!!

These people are scammers. On the phone they give you an awesome price, especially when combined with their coupon. However, like another Unilocaler mentioned, when you show up it’s 4 times as much! After the guy gave me a quote that was too high for me, he asked me how much I would like to pay. What kind of crap is that? I don’t trust anyone who gives me an initial quote of $ 550 and then brings it down to $ 250 because he’s trying to do me a favor. I left without new brakes and took it to my usual mechanic who was a bit more than the $ 250, but was honest up front about the cost.

So super helpful! The staff was very nice, knowledgable, and helpful. Can’t say enough good things. We plan on moving to this area soon and we have definitely found where we will be taking our car. Thanks Spencer and team!

Just left Meineke and I am so thrilled! I usually leave the car repair store feeling a little taken advantage of and ripped off, but this was not the case today! After past experiences I decided to check out a few places and get quotes before having my car fixed. The first 2 places I went to quoted outrageous amounts and were rude and sleezy. I am so glad I didn’t just settle and went to a 3^rd shop, Meineke. Spencer worked with me on my budget and ended up giving me an AMAZING deal and just as great of service, he actually ended up doing a number of things free of charge. My car is running perfectly now and I know longer have to fear my breaks giving out or my car stopping in the middle of the highway. I would like to second what the last Unilocaler said, Spencer is the man! Next time I have any sort of car trouble or even if I just need maintainence I will be heading straight to Meineke on San Carlos as I know that this is the best service and deal in town!

This place is run by Spencer, and Spencer is the Man! I really mean that, from the bottom of my heart.
Money has been very tight, as it is for a lot of people these days, and I had been running my 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer for months on noisy, rasping brakes. I knew I needed to have it serviced, badly, but I didn’t have the money, so I just kept on driving it, forcing the issue. You know how that goes. Anyway, the day came when I could force the issue no more, and took it to the Meineke on West San Carlos St. on recommendation from a friend at work.
Spencer diagnosed the car quickly and expertly, and told me exactly how much it would cost to fix it: over two thousand dollars. Yipes. I was very honest with him and said that I wouldn’t be able to pay that much money. I told him how high I could possibly go (hundreds of dollars less), and asked him what he would be able to do for me.
Long story short, Spencer took care of everything my Lancer needed, for much less than was quoted. He really worked with me on a personal level to get all the issues resolved. And resolved them he has. Now my Lancer runs like a dream, it’s actually fun to drive again.
Since that time I have taken our family van to Spencer as well. As always, he diagnoses quickly, quotes what it will cost, no more, no less. As Spencer himself says, they may not be the cheapest auto repair shop in town, but they are honest, they will charge what good work is supposed to cost, and they will do good honest work on your car. Sure, there are less expensive auto repair shops on Unilocal,but I think going to them is penny-​wise but pound-​foolish. With Spencer at the West San Carlos Meineke, you will get your money’s worth. Spencer is a straight shooter, and you feel that you can trust him.
As long as I live in this area, I will take my cars to no other place but Spencer at the San Jose Meineke. He gets my highest recommendation.

Up front and honest with out the cheesy smiles and cookie cutter comments. I would say this is a Man’s Shop. It’s not pretty, it’s a little grimy inside– but hey, name a mechanic who you’ve seen clean on the job. I came in during the weekend for an oil change, and the gentleman let me know it would be a long while, and sincerely apologized– sincere enough for me to come back. So upon my return, every one was friendly, smiled and said «how’s it going?»… then again I am a girl in auto shop =)
In any case, I was in and out very quickly… as I was checking out the gentleman and I had a real conversation, about business, both his and mine, and he let me know they don’t really make money on the oil change specials– they just hope to do a good job so you’ll come back. I don’t know… something about the honesty (and good job) let’s me know I’ll be back, and refer a few friends.
One suggestion I do have, is to have some sort of clarity on what to do when you arrive. Do we pull up to service spots? Or park?

DON“T GO HERE! Had to redo the work they supposedly did here at another store, shoddy workmanship, I agree with another reviewer, these clowns don’t know what they’re doing!
They are so freaken dishonest about what they did it’s not worth the hassle/​time going back to complain.

I have had nothing but excellent experiences with this shop. Paul, the owner, is honest and always willing to go the extra mile for great customer service. I happened upon them a few years ago and will continue to give them my business as long as they are there.

When you call them they will give you a price and when you are there for the service they will have you wait for some time and then will tell you it will cost more. They count on you to stay since you already invested so much time. I just tell you to run by then.
I had my front brakes done beginning 2008. Exact one year later I had to redo the front brakes including disk re-​surfacing again. Their work is lowest quality and they might not even do what they write on the receipt. I am not going back for any «warranty» as I fear they will mess up more than repair.
BTW: My rear brakes were done by another mechanic in 2007 and they are still good.

I just want to say, that these guys did a GREAT job on my car! I had the front brakes and rotors done. It was only $ 300! Sunnyvale Chrysler told me I needed all 4 wheels done and it would cost $ 989.
I wish I had gotten the name of the 3 gentlemen (and YES I do mean GENTLEMEN) who I dealt with. They were all respectful, friendly and helpful. The gentleman I spoke with when I picked up and paid for my car with talked to me, and after I paid he shook my hand and thanked me for my business! I have NEVER had this happen before.
I cannot agree with Lindsey less. Sure its not the cleanest place. .. for gods sake it’s a car shop, not some fou fou trendy bistro!
All I can say is, if you want to be treated fairly, with respect and get a good deal. Take your car here. I’ll need my 90K work done soon, and I can guarantee you it will go here, before the dealership.

Do not be fooled. This place is a total hole-​in-​the-​wall. We had a coupon and read the three good Unilocal reviews, so we drove our car over there this morning to get our brakes done. The dude working did NOT know what he was doing – he looked like he was 15 years old– and the car they were working on was jacked up on a manual hand-​crank car jack with only one mechanic. Who knows what they were doing. It’s amazing that this is a national chain, because it’s like they stole the Meineke signs and opened a random garage with some high school kids working. We would have paid a higher price for our brakes because this is a trusted national chain, but you’d get a better price and service if you went to Sears or somewhere else! We did not trust our car to this whole-​in-​the-​wall… and you shouldn’t either!

Friendly, courteous service. Took them a little longer than they said to complete the job, but I thought their original estimate was a little short anyways. :) Would definitely go back.

Got new brakes, took about three hours, they had about two cars ahead of mine, got my front rotors replaced as well, back brakes still decent for now, didn’t try to hard sell me on anything, kept me posted with a phone call and 260 dollars later, no more bad brake ghetto screaching noises. Nice people working and do a good job. Definitely go back, make sure to have a ride or someone to kill some time with while your car is getting fixed like I did, their waiting room isn’t very cozy (not like I expected it to be) but they did have a tv.

I used to bring my old car here all the time they really took care of me and were very personable. Paul is the guy that usually helps me out and he does a great job. One time I brought my car there it took a longer than I expected, two hours later than promised time but i won’t dock them for it. Usually very consistant.
