This is my favorite fast burger joint, but I do not recommend the Oak Lawn location. The burgers are salty enough to kill a horse. I’ve complained before, but apparently, it falls on deaf ears. I have been to several other locations in multiple states and this location is an outlier. If you enjoy a half cup of salt on your burger, this is the location for you! Now excuse me while I drink a gallon of water.

I like Smashburger though their prices are moderate or average for a regular restaurant, though technically they are a fast food joint. They have good medium sized to large hamburgers and other items on their menu. They have a kids menu, I ordered grilled cheese and fries, around.$ 6 and though the sandwich was small I enjoyed it. The place is clean, quiet when empty, average to loud noise level when crowded, debit/credit cards are accepted, dine in and carry out, bike parking nearby(Metra Station/Starbucks). My only complaint is that I was eating there when I saw an employee ask a mother and daughter to get up from their booth, he proceeded to lift up the booth seat and take out cups(though in plastic) from under the booth seat. The mother looked surprised. I thought it was odd and unsanitary. The place was busy and crowded, no one else noticed. Oaklawn, IL has no licensed or registered health inspector I heard. Overall, 4⁄5 stars.

Overall, I wasn’t entirely impressed with my experience at smashburger. Most likely I won’t be going again. It didn’t have much to do with the food. The food was actually pretty good. I’m not a fan of shoe string fries, but they weren’t too bad. I got the Windy City with chicken. It was pretty decent. The chicken was flavorful, the additions seemed fresh, the bun was soft and warm, but it was kind of small for the price. It was delivered to me cold, though, so maybe that put a damper on everything. However, the service was horrendous and I can only blame management. I can’t blame the girl at the counter. It was lunch rush and they only had one poor girl at the counter. What kind of insane person decided to make that decision? This girl was running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to take peoples order, deliver food to tables, hand out take out orders, and clean tables. They appeared to be other people there, but the guy literally just stood against the wall watching her. I hope that wasn’t anyone in management because if it was SHAMEONHIM. However, I suspect it was a guy who was delivering food. You never know, though. I ordered my food to go, so I was able to sit and watch for a minute. I really was ready to jump in and start helping her. After waiting about 30 mins they called an order ready for pickup. The girl didn’t get to it until 30 mins later and(lucky me) it was my order sitting there for a half hour. I really don’t blame her. I mean she is human and can only do so much. However, I DO blame management and they need to do something to fix this or they will start losing customers.

Honestly I was a bit disappointed with this restaurant. It has a decent interior and a nice customer base(as evidenced by the long lines), but there was nothing particularly impressive about their actual burgers. I would almost choose Burger King over them, especially since this restaurant is a bit pricey. They did have some interesting«smashburger» fries(olive oil, garlic, and rosemary)…too greasy for me and would probably be a better side for a steak vs. a burger. Then, Potbelly’s Oreo shakes are better, but these are a close second. Nothing particularly bad about the burgers, but nothing particularly great either. I doubt I’ll return given the cost and mediocre food.

Came here with my boyfriend for a late dinner following a wake. We’ve been meaning to stop by here for awhile but hadn’t gotten around to it until now. I thought the food was decent for the price. I ordered the Windy City burger while he got a build your own. The Windy City was good. I thought the mustard was a little spicy for me(I mean it is spicy mustard!) but that’s just me. I recommend it. The highlight of the mean was the chocolate peanut butter shake. It was ah-maz-ing. I would go there just for that! My boyfriend got fries with his meal that he seemed to like. I wasn’t too crazy about them. They had an odd taste to them but it might of just been the seasoning he ordered. The two burgers, a fry, a drink and a shake came out to about $ 22. Not a bad deal.

I have to say that this is one of the most ordinary burgers I have ever had. The fries were very greasy and the smash burger fries have a garlic seasoning and were also very greasy. All of the food is extremely salty. We ordered a salted caramel shake a chocolate malt and a strawberry milkshake. All of them tasted like they came out of the testing tube. We sent $ 50 for four people. Not pricey but not worth it for us. Nothing about the burgers are special. Nothing about the shakes are special. The customer service is below average. Not coming here again. Better options than this around.

Even though this place is a little more on the expensive side, the fries are packed and filled with the best fries around, the shakes are handmade and taste very yummy, and the sandwiches(choice of burger or chicken, I picked chicken) are hot and fresh. It’s so delicious. It is definitely a once in a while type of place, but it is heaven!

This place was very average for me and I love all hamburgers so that’s saying a lot. I have only been one time and that’s more than enough for me. I personally like steak and shake and Hardee’s better for hamburgers.

I tried a smashburger year ago an didn’t like it because the burger was dry. I thought I would give it another chance so today I had a mushroom burger that was so dry. I drank two bottles of water to finish it. The strawberry shake was excellent though.

Hands down 5STARS! This place is so clean and friendly. Not a dirty table in sight. Anthony, behind the register was helpful and made some recommendations. My bacon burger was Superb and the sweet potato fries were AMAZING. My food was delivered to me hot. The presentation alone, on the tray displayed exactly what I wanted. Making my mouth water. If you are in the area for good food, clean tables, and good tunes. This is the spot! KUDOS!!!

Spicy buffalo fries aren’t spicy or buffalo while being very overpriced. Pay an exorbitant amount for extra toppings just so they can sprinkle it on. Pretzel bun is soggy bread, just looks pretzel like. All in all, not recommended for burger aficionados.

Great! I would go back in a heartbeat. It was our first time visiting and we got the full experience. The food is fantastic, and not really that expensive. I got the Avocado Black Bean Burger and it was delicious. The staff was courteous and polite. They were constantly cleaning and turning down tables after guests left. They have a great selection of food and the shakes are out of this world. I couldn’t pass up a butterfinger one. When they knew that my girlfriend and I were first time customers, they just threw coupons for free sides at us. I know their objective is to create return customers, but our next visit ought to be nearly free. I would definitely recommend trying Smashburger at the very least. I think you’ll probably be back, I know I will.

I visited SmashBurger with my husband and son after a visit to the Oak Lawn Children’s museum(it’s within walking distance). I know SmashBurger is a chain, but I had never been to one and didn’t quite know what to expect — except for the burgers, of course. I ordered a Classic Smash while my husband ordered the Classic Chicken — both were exceptional. In fact, I’d even say that I liked the taste of the chicken better than the burger! My preschooler had the kid’s burger meal and there wasn’t a single complaint about anything. Overall, a great spot to enjoy a burger!

Not as good as when they started. Then the prices. A burger, fries and a shake will be 15 or more. 5 guys is as expensive but the burgers and fries are better

This was the first time I ever been to a Smashburger, and I was glad I came. I paid about 20 bucks for 2 big bacon cheeseburgers and smashfries which have some seasonings and rosemary on it, and it was great. My burger did have some tiny pink spots here and there but so small I could just pick it off. The customer service was excellent. Greeted upon entrance and the guy who took our order also came by and checked that our food was okay and then later came back and swooped up all of our trash. The burger itself was pretty decent but I feel like it had too much mustard. Probably just a preference thing. My only issues here were that my boyfriend noticed one of the male cooks using the FEMALE bathroom when the male bathroom was working just fine. That’s beyond gross to me and made me not even want to use the bathroom. They were also out of sheet covers for the changing table in the bathroom so I had to lay down a heap of paper towels for my son. The bathrooms could use some cleaning. I would come back based off the customer service alone and the burger was pretty good. 3.5 stars overall.

Great burger, great fries. Wonderful service. I bought a burger to eat in and then my spouse called and wanted a burger. The man who delivered my food also rung up my second order. Remembered where I was sitting and told me he’d bring the food out to me. Employees are always friendly and courteous. Food is made fresh to order — you can’t beat that.

Noticed that many reviews are real low or real high — usually a sign that the particular service on any day might be putting a damper on reviews. Anyway, gave it a try and we must have caught staff on a good day because we liked it. Three of us dined … two had Classic Smash — one c sweet potato fries and one with regular fries, other party had Classic Big Smash with Smash fries. Two chocolate shakes and a Goose Island Matilda rounded out the fare…$ 38.40 for the table. The hits were the fries… the Smash fries had a hint of rosemary and olive oil that made them subtle. Sweet potato fires were very good — just enough crisp to them… usually sweet potato fries are soggy but these were not. Reg fries were just that. All the fries were of the thin stick type. Hamburgers were good if a bit greasy… but what did we expect. Hamburgers were salty and had a lot of calories but were very tasty. Done perfectly and served hot and fast. The Classic Big looked the same size as the Classics so I would get a regular next time. Hamburgers come with what they call Smash Sauce on the bun — sort of a mix of mayonnaise and mustard… pretty good. This storefront operation was within walking distance of the Metra train station in Oak Lawn, and was clean and bright inside. Staff was friendly and attentive for a fast food hamburger joint. This place reminded me so much of Fat Burger in Orland Park, but without the negatives. Fat Burger had a great hamburger — better than Smash — but they ran the place into the ground. Fat Burger in Orland Park only failed because of the staff running the store. Smash seems better run… we’d go back.

I find it hard to believe that this is the same Smashburger previous posters have reviewed. Been here a handful of times and it’s always been a delightful experience. The staff here is so friendly, including the manager(James?), who was on hand to take our orders on a recent visit. My MIL was a newbie to the joint so he answered all of her questions. Paid $ 33 for three burgers, drinks, fries, and a kids meal. Everything was made to order and was brought to our table in a timely fashion. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I always order the BBQ burger and have never been disappointed. The patties are freshly made, juicy, and just the right size. They use real thick bacon, not that flimsy stuff at other fast food places. The haystack onions are tasty as are the fries. I prefer this burger over any other fast food style burger, and will keep on coming back.

This place really has potential. It kind of annoys me that they always seem to screw something up. I live within walking distance of this place and I almost never come here. It’s not because I’m at home cooking either. I’m always looking for an excuse to pick up carry-out after work. I’ve had a couple incidents here that really left a bad taste in my mouth. 1. I ordered a side of fried pickles. What I received was a HALFFULL container of fried pickles literally swimming in a pool of grease. 2. I placed an order for one buffalo chicken sandwich and a plain chicken sandwich. I received my buffalo, but the plain had been cooked in buffalo and then just WIPED off and served to us! There have been other minor mishaps here as well. I’m taking a break from this place until I hear they get it together.
