Anthony Scardino

Anthony is currently working at J Salon, 5262 College Avenue in Oakland. (I followed him to J Salon from the previous salon he worked at.) He’s been cutting and coloring my hair for more than 10 years now and I’m a devoted fan. At my first visit he knew just what to do to update my style and he’s been keeping my hair looking its best ever since. And he’s a wizard with color. Last but not least, you won’t find a nicer stylist anywhere; he’s sweet and funny and I always have a great time in his chair. So go see Anthony!

Anthony is the only person allowed to come near my 30″ of hair! For 21 years. OMG…he has tamed the beast. I have 5 cowlicks and most hairdressers simply wet my hair, comb it flat and snip away, leaving me with many different lengths that weren’t intentional. Anthony handles it, which is why I travel from the South Bay just to see him!!! He definitely is top in his field, and is always current on technique and style. He rescued me from a lifetime of hippie hair! Thanks, Anthony!

He’s going to laugh at this because I couldn’t remember the name of the place he works at now at College and Broadway. I just go there because that’s where he works and I don’t really care much about hair salons. I also don’t remember the name of the place where he first started cutting my hair at Alcatraz and College (same block as the liquor store). He did spend several years at Genray’s on Claremont and I’ve just followed him over the last 20-​years; and it has been 20-​years now, which is hard to believe. Genray is also a cool guy and that’s a good salon.
Of these three establishments, Anthony has always had the first chair, as he does now at College and Broadway. I’ve never asked him about that and have always assumed it’s because of his talent. I know from the many years of conversation that he is very successful at what he does and we often talk real estate.
I should add that Anthony will get my middle aged eyebrows under control and will take care of any other extraneous hair «features» that «crop-​up» over time. While perhaps a tad embarrassing for me, I appreciate that very much.

Anthony does a great job at cutting my hair… it even grows out in shape… additionally, he has given me several good color consultations. J. Salon is located on College @ Broadway… parking can be a bit of a problem, however, on Broadway there are usually several spaces.

Anthony Scardino is the BEST!!! I look forward to my monthly appointment with Anthony, who always does a fabulous job in coloring, cutting, and styling my hair. I don’t know what I would do without Anthony. He always treats you like royalty and he generously offers some laughter, a cup of tea or a glass of wine. Anthony is a true gem of Rockridge!

I’ve followed Anthony from one salon to the other over the past 15 + years because he is so great! In fact, for 15 year I’ve received compliments on my hair — from complete strangers in stores even! — so I know he still has it! Ok, so I have to admit I also love his quirky sense of humor! Anthony gives great haircuts! He’s also super nice to talk to. He is a good listener; good at understanding what I’m wanting and I have always been pleased with how I look when I walk out the door, and even the next day when I style my hair myself. Anthony is easy to schedule with and reasonably priced.

Anthony has been cutting my hair for years … more years than I’ve ever had any other single person cutting my hair … well, not that he’s been single the whole time, but you get my drift. (Although he is single at the moment, and that’s a situation that really ought to be remedied in short order.) Anyhow, Anthony always does a great job … well, almost always, but I still got tons of compliments on my haircut the one time I got a one I didn’t like, so what the hell do I know? He even remembers my birthday every year, the little lambchop. Go see Anthony (especially if you’re unbearably attractive and currently single).
